Are you high?

Can you mention any better looking episodes than this one? Animation-wise, its clearly not the best, not even close. But art-wise, I'd say its the best.
Personally, I like the art in 47 (future parts), 66, and 110 more.

This episode is so pleasant to watch. I always loved Takahashi, but I never knew he could make me so happy as a Dragon Ball fan enjoying modern era of the franchise like this, without feeling like a nostalgic dumbshit. His character drawings looks a lot like a DBZ movie, but with a modern touch. I love it, really.

Like Ajay said in his video (great work, as always), this episode didn't have any highlight in terms of animation. Not too much to notice aside from the drawing style of Takahashi. Although I loved Karasawa's cut with my man Katopesra. The reflections in his helmet screammed "Karasawa!" to me from the moment I saw it. Really enjoyable. Please more of this tandem in the near future.

-------------------------

I don't know if I should say this here, but I'm watching Pokémon Advanced Challenge/Battle and, My sweet Jesuschrist, the animation was absolutely dreadful. How people can complain about Dragon Ball Super with products like that in the books? It's night and day. Almost unwatchable. What happened in those years? I read somewhere that japanese anime quality dropped badly.

So we have Yashima storyboarding (hes surprisingly great), and Yoichi Onishi back again (he last supervised episode 49).
Thats one more supervisor on Super, so thats good to see.

The writing should be OK. Not confident in any of the directors besides Karasawa.

Is Yoshitaka Yashima not a so good supervisor? Some people on Discord Gaf seem to think 117 is the worst staff that Super could put together. I know Fukushima isn't seen favorably, although I do like his episodes more often than not, but I don't remember Yashima being called bad.

The thing is, his episodes are usually extremely conservative and limited. If his the supervisor, its usually the markings of a solo episode, meaning outside of maybe one other KA, it'll be Yashima doing conservative work and 2nd KA's cleaning him up.

I have some faith in Kazuya though, his at the very least a decent director. The worst the episode will turn out is like 100 and 108. It should be fine or at the very least serviceable.

Weird. A 17 fan is losing their mind about this staff line-up along with several other users. The user went as far as to say that they prefer not seeing 17 at all over this staff. I mean, I can get Fukushima who is the weakest writer on Super, even if I personally don't think he's bad, but everyone else, I thought was bottom of the barrel or something.

Also, what is KA? Drawing a blank.

Key animator.

I don't know why people are freaking out about Yashima. We know what to expect from him. He isn't there to produce overly flashy work. His just there to produce a solid enough episode.

I don't see what people are worried about Karasawa for, he was the director on 109, his perfectly competent. I guess people felt Yashima wasn't capable of pulling through his storyboard when they worked together on 100?

What's some example of Yoichi Onishi's art?

Decent staff list, looking forward actually to #115 I like Ishikawa and Itai has grown on me so much and of course Toshio writing and Yashima is SB! Should be good episode.
Manabe at least handling UI Goku episode is reassuring. #117 looks lack luster though Yashima and Fukushima.

My thoughts;
6 weeks for Manabe and Onishi for the return of UI is disappointing, hopefully they still do well and hopefully Tsuji does a lot since she wasn't super heavy or polished on 114. Also interesting that Tomioka is writing it.
Yashima for the return of 17 and 18 is kinda lame, but as long as the corrections are there and he gets one animator with him to do something it'll be fine.
No staff list for 118 is lame.
No new supervisors is disappointing, hopefully next month.
I think 116 will be the only episode where the supervisors suffer from the special (luckily Manabe is very talented), after 117 the supervisors are lined back up to have a good amount of time.

Also no Karasawa =(

Sonoda is a good director. If Manabe does what he does best, it should be good. Rest, doesn't look that promising. Karasawa should really be paired with some other AD. Yashima is not the one who will elevate his ideas to anything more than mediocre.

Look forward to 116 with UI Goku and Atsuhiro Tomioka. I know UI won't look as great as 110, but I hope it still looks extremely good.

He's pretty far away from the model sheets, but I like him. In all likelihood he will be heavily corrected by Tsuji though.

So that means Ide is on #117? Ack. Yeah definitely not expecting much for that episode then.

Ide is on every odd numbered episode.
Ide's supervision of Yashima always turns out pretty solid, look at 91 for instance.
Image
He focused on partial corrections, resulting in the episode looking totally fine, the Goku and Gohan here aren't full Yashima, they are partial corrections from Ide.
