See TBMX I enjoyed Vegeta in all those stories you said he was shafted. Vegeta has been my favorite DB character for 17 years and I've always been happy where the story has taken him.

* Battle of the Gods: The Fact that he got a power up because he was concerned about Bulma was the best thing ever

* Ressurection Freeza~ Okay I admit I was a bit annoyed at the ending here but he did get a cool fight against Freeza

* Universe 6 Tournament~ He had 3 great fights here. Okay sure he lost against Hit but keep in mind Goku was able to observe Vegeta's fight against Hit. In the same way Vegeta was able to observe Frost's fight with Goku and Piccolo. When you are watching you can pick up on things the person who is fighting can't.

* Copy Vegeta~ Come on Vegeta wanting a good fight between Goku and Copy Vegeta even though he was going to die was fantastic and so Vegeta. Plus there were some cute Vegeta & Trunks moments in this arc.

* Goku Black/Zamasu~ My only let down was when the father/son Gallic Gun did less damage than Goku's Kamehama. Otherwise I thought Vegeta had a lot of great moments against a pretty much impossibly opponent. Everyone mentions of course when at one point Vegeta over powers Goku Black

But another early scene I loved when the first time everyone is knocked out and Goku Black & Zamasu are about to kill Goku and Trunks. Then Vegeta who we think is knocked out with his last ounce of strength saves them.

Plus there was a lot of great Vegeta/Future Trunks bonding moments. Oh yeah Vegeta jumping in front of Trunks to take a blast was another memorable moment.

* As for this arc while it's true it has had a bit less Vegeta (note I am not completely caught up) we still got to see Bulla born and I find it interesting that people are saying Vegeta is being selfish like he was in the Cell arc. I think people miss subtetly with Vegeta. Like how he would never outright work in a team but technically he did jump in to save Goku from Universe 9. This was the last episode I've seen.

So no I don't think Toriyama or Toei or whoever are out to get Vegeta. Even if he may not get to beat a main bad guy. Even if he does get knocked out of this tournament early he's still a great character with plenty of great moments. It just really depends on how you define a great moment or why you enjoy his character in the first place.

My Frieza fanboyism is getting the better of me right now, so I have to disagree. I have the feeling that Super has big plans for Frieza, big plans indeed. I am beginning to think that he's going to be just as important as the saiyan duo to this series. Episode 95 really pushed the Arch-Nemesis idea and I wouldn't be surprised if, by the end of Super, Goku and Frieza will be immortal gods, fighting each other for all eternity. The God of Creation vs the God of Destruction.
Well, that's one of my hopes anyway.

As for Vegeta getting eliminated early ... well, it makes little sense popularity wise, but it could be a shocking turn of events (although, with everything being leaked a month from now it would hardly be considered a surprise). I think the Mafuba will be a failsafe (dropping Vegeta out without actually dropping him out), so that the fanboys will be shocked and amazed when he's mafuba'ed and brought back later on in the tourney.

As for 17, while he's indeed stronger than before, I don't see him portrayed as someone who will make it in the last 10 fighters. Not in terms of power, but in terms of hype. I, personally, just don't see it.

Will definitely last longer than 18, though.
Vegeta going out before Goku's big fight is no surprise and if Vegeta doesn't lose to Jiren then who does he lose to? I would say Hit but many have already convinced themselves that Vegeta can one-shot him. This would mean that Vegeta would have to go out to someone who is weaker than him. This could be Cabba or maybe Frost does get him eventually with Frieza's help.

17's big problem is that he does not have the character status that other Universe 7 members have.
Except he sure as hell has been treated better than most other U7 characters.

Well now that we know this arc may go to March no way would I have been happy if Vegeta was knocked out 3rd like was originally thought.

That being said not sure if I am happy how he has been handled in this arc so far.

* I liked the scenes when he helped Goku with U9
* Goku and Vegeta against the snipers (I know not everyone was happy about this scene but I enjoyed it)
* Vegeta and Roshi
* Vegeta saying he would wish back Cabba and Co

But other than Vegeta has barely got to do much of anything in this arc. And when he gets a brief scene it's usually some scene of him bragging so I have to endure fans saying he's Cell!Vegeta again. Le Sigh!

Not saying he is being treated worse than other U7 characters. With the exception of possibly Freeza (and maybe Roshi before he was eliminated) no one else has really gotten to shine except Goku in this tournament. And I get Goku is the main character but since I am 99% sure the finale will come down to him it would be nice if it didn't feel like the other U7 characters were just there as background. Heck other universe characters like Caulifla and Kale have been treated better than the U7 characters.

I think Vegeta may be Jiren's first victim after waking up again, probably after beating Toppo.

Vegeta is now the main character just like Goku. Hell, even F focused more on him at first than Goku and then it became an equal deal. Same with U6. Same with even the Alien Copy arc. The future trunks arc too. the only time he hasn't been a main character in Super is this arc and that's ok. this arc is primarily about Goku and his nature as a battle maniac and the indirect consequences of his actions. Vegeta is still the deteuragonist. he is literally the Killua of Dragon Ball now.
Zamasu is the best DB villain besides Freeza (and this is only the case because the current Super arc elevated Freeza to be that good).

Well being biased I like to think as Vegeta as the deteuragonist and hope he continues in that role but at the same time with his somewhat reduced role in this arc don't want to get my hopes up that is how he is actually seen by those in charge.

Yeah, definitely wouldn't call Vegeta a "supporting character". He's been very central since all the way back to the Buu arc.

Also, while Goku is the "main main character", Dragon Ball is and always was (except perhaps pre-Raditz) an ensemble story. There are so many cool characters to use and abuse that having Goku do everything would be one hell of a waste.

Eh. I don't think that's true at all. DB doesn't really come off as an ensemble story even back in the pre-Raditz days. Hell I think Z came off more of an ensemble story than OG and even then, the only straight up constant is Goku.

Τhat's what I meant. Pre-Raditz was more Goku-centric than Z.
