The Ring > The Grudge

Well I'd rate them like this myself:

1. US version of The Ring
2. Japanese original of The Grudge
3. American version of The Grudge
4. Japanese original of The Ring

I'm no fan of the American version of the Grudge but the Japanese Ring actually made me laugh out loud several times, particularly when people died and it does the cheap inverted colours effect.

Normally I prefer the original versions of any film but in the case of The Ring (or Ringu...) I actually have to hand it to the Americans (well, Gore Verbinski, I believe) because in my opinion and that of my friends, it really did surpass the Japanese original in every way. I think the only moment that was a little off was the dodgy CG "Samara" at the end.

For me it's:

1. Ju-On (Japanese version of the Grudge)
2. Dark Water (Japanese version)
3. Tale of Two Sisters (Korean Film)
4. Ringu
5. Tie between American versions of "The Ring" and "The Grudge"

I disregard The Ring 2, The Grudge 2 and the American Dark Water.

Wow, after reading this thread...wow.

I thought I saw Vegeta glaring at me from the screen like this once about a year ago, but I always thought I'd been seeing things...now it's time to pop in B3 and remind myself of the horro of his death glare.

Any version of Ring > Any version of The Grudge (though Ju-On was pretty good)
Dark Water (Japanese) = Dark Water (American)

Isn't it weird how we go off on these tangents? XD

I'm literally popping in Budokai 3 tonight and checking if there are any unique idle animations. Unfortunately my digicam sucks and I probably won't even attempt to take photos.

I didn't like Dark water American because it just wasn't scary. I mean there's no moment in it that is the counterpart of the Japanese elevator scene where the little decompsing girl comes sceaming at the camera after a moment of eerie silence.

Wow! That would be so damn funny. This needs to implemented in some game. You know what? On second thought, that is far more creepy than funny. And would no doubt get annoying. Oh well.
