The moon and the cloud

Post by I like DB(Z) (...) » Mon Oct 15, 2007 6:14 pm

Just a thought... if the full moon was covered by a cloud during the time a Saiyan becomes an Oozaru, what would happen? Would nothing happen? With they change back and then change to an Oozaru again once the full moon is sited again?

P.S. How long since the last post until it would be regarded as necro-posting?

General necropost rule is two weeks, I believe.

Since the Oozaru transformation is triggered by the light reflected from a round stellar object (Well, that's what I get from the description of 'zeno' and 'bruts' anyway), I'd say the ability to sustain the transformation would die off... though how long they can go without changing back I Don't know... maybe Saiyans can see through clouds a little better? :?

The way Bejiita explained it, it seems that just to trigger the transformation, the green spectrum radiation exceeding 17 million zeno/sec has to be absorbed by the eyes. It doesn't say that they need to continuously have that amount be absorbed by their eyes to maintain the transformation, just that the radiation is still present (otherwise Bejiita would have probably transformed back into his normal state after the Taiyo-ken, as he was covering his eyes as he was trying to recover from it).

I think as long as the radiation is still present (since some forms of radiation can penetrate cloud cover) , the saiya-jin will remain in their Oozaru state, but if the source (in normal cases the moon) is removed from the picture, then the transformation ceases.

If it just had to be absorbed by the eyes, wouldn't they be able to stay like that forever? I think it just has to be out in the sky. Maybe a bagillion thick clouds could stop it. Maybe.

So it sounds like it takes a certain situation to trigger it (full moon in sight), and then all we need is certain amounts to maintain it--When the moon was destroyed Goku and Gohan transformed back to normal instantly, whereas Vegeta didn't change back from getting blinded as previously stated... So I guess loss f the moon = no more power source, but loss of looking at it isn't enough of a loss to revert the transformation?
And I wonder if maybe having just the rays but no visual contact with them for long enough might cause the transformation to change back, but after some time passes?

I hate to drag movies into this, but it should be noted that in Movie 3, when Tullece used a Power Ball to make Gohan transform and then destroyed it, he noted that it's effects should last for a little while longer. So maybe the Power Ball is more effective than the moon anyway.

That was non-canon, and there's no evidence in the original series to suggest that the synthetic moons actually have longer lasting effects. I always assumed that you needed to have a constant flow of bruits waves to stay transformed. Also waves don't leave reminence of themselves, unless they're radioactive. And I don't believe that Bruits waves are radioactive, that would be disturbing...
Think of light in a room, when you turn off the light, there's not light lingering in the room, it disappears automatically with the source. Or unless the source is far away; the moon is actually one light-second from Earth. If the moon is destroyed, you (On Earth) won't see it destroyed until one second after it's actual destruction.

Actually, Bruits waves have to be radioactive, as they are shown to cause the Oozaru transformation to activate, and Bejiita in the saiya-jin saga said that it was green spectrum radiation exceeding 17 million zeno/sec that when absorbed by the eyes instills the transformation.

Radiation doesn't equal radioactive. Visible light, radio waves, and microwaves are all radiation that's not radioactive, and Bruits Waves seem to be visible light.

Radiation in that sense simply means that the moon is "radiating" the waves. Radioactive is something completely different.
