Hello guys
I am new here. I have a question for the manga experts out here.
I've got some small frustrations of a recently purchased set of Dragon ball graphic novels i own.
Since recently i am the owner of a recently printed Dragon ball manga single volumes.
It's a recent print of the orginal series printed back in the early 2000's.
I would have thought, since this is basically the most edited and most long-running release from Viz, a lot of the mistakes that are typical for 'first prints' would have been filtered out.
I've noticed several chapters title pages that are not correct. For instance in volume in the King Piccolo Arc (volume 13), it just jumps from 148 to 130 (Word Domination) and back to 150.
I've researched past topics regarding this on the boards from a couple years back. The same remarks were already stated by owners of the manga and reported to Viz.
How is it possible such mistakes are even still in there? I understand, we're all human, translators do make mistakes as well. But how is this possible for a release of the series that is basically running from 2003 and that it still has this kind of mistakes, and it has been reported to Viz already years back. Such mistakes are usually corrected in reprints, aren't they?
The small volumes cost more than the 3-in-1's and VIZ Big editions, they are more like collector editions. I expect a pretty high standard whilst buying this product. Moreover this has nothing to do with translation-errors or censorship. It's just as wrong as it can be. It's the basics of every book to have it's titles and chapters correctly.
Are there other owners of the single volumes that notice the same kind of mistakes? Do the bigger editions have the same flaws? Does VIZ have any intentions to correct this?
Apologies for the moaning and thx for the feedback.
Grtz.

Re: Chapter mistakes in my recent Dragon ball single volumes
I'm not an expert on the intricacies on the publishing of the manga by ViZ, but from what I can tell they've basically been recycling the exact same translation they did on their first attempt, with the exception of the "dialogue uncut" revision sometime later; even the more recent and technically new product Dragon Ball Full Color uses exactly the same script even though the actual formatting of the text is different. So it doesn't surprise me that they've mad no effort to resolve the title pages 15 years later.

Got a reply from VIZ today. They thanked for the feedback and said they would fixed it in a reprint.
So maybe ... our descendants aren't actually going to see a Dragonball-manga-hologram with chapter '130 World Domination' in the year 2200.
