"Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Glad piccolo is becoming the new yamcha. Just wishing that gohan goes next. As for the androids, it's about time toie did something right and finally gave them some spotlight. Looking forward to Vegeta unlocking UI versus Jiren.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
That doesn't make what he, or Gotenks did, irrelevant. It's character development, led to him keeping the human main cast alive for a while longer, and bought enough time for Gohan to finish his training.Whatever wrote:Not at all.precita wrote:Piccolo training Gotenks and stopping Buu from immediately killing everyone on Kami's lookout, as well as slicing Babidi in half and saving Trunks/Goten when Vegeta blew himself up, plus coming up with the plan to lock themselves in the time chamber, work with Gotenks to escape, is all pretty relevant.Whatever wrote: In the Buu saga he did nothing and was irrelevant in every aspect,so yeah for 2/3 parts of Z Piccolo was important both story and power wise.
1)Gotenks ended up being irrelevant and a waste of time so all the time Piccolo spent up training him was a waste as well.
2)Babidi being sliced in half did not matter at all,as for him saving Trunks/Goten,again they ended up being irrelevant.
3)Good plan but it ended up being pointless since it was undone by the narrative, with Super Buu being allowed to escape dimensions by screaming for some reason.

Just because that happens to Goku doesn’t mean it’ll be for Vegeta. Vegeta personally could find it easier to attack but harder for him to dodge. We don’t really have enough detail to say one way or another yet.
If Gogeta was fighting Jiren, I’d imagine he’d only need it for a few minutes since their fight would potentially be the last one on the stage and right at the end.
Again, Whis said that everyone thinks before attacking. This isn't some problem unique to Goku and Vegeta attacking like a madman doesn't mean he will find attacking with UI easier. It is more complex than that.
Gogeta would last a few seconds, not minutes.

It does since Gotenks amounted to nothing in the end. Also what character development? He did the smart thing and delayed Super buu so Gotenks could have extra time.precita wrote:

Not to mention how pointless and irrelevant Ultimate Gohan turned out to be.

Just because characters don't win doesn't make their characters irrelevant. By this logic 90% of what happens in the show is irrelevant.Whatever wrote:It does since Gotenks amounted to nothing in the end. Also what character development? He did the smart thing and delayed Super buu so Gotenks could have extra time.precita wrote:

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
It doesn't always come down to accomplishment, but the effort put into it and the actual struggle the went trhough- how the character handles himself given the situation. It's like saying Bulma and her smarts are useless because Krillin destroyed the remoteWhatever wrote:It does since Gotenks amounted to nothing in the end. Also what character development? He did the smart thing and delayed Super buu so Gotenks could have extra time.precita wrote:

Beat them both with freeza and then spectate the final showdown, not everyone has to go down, I have been positive ever since the tournament started that Gohan's gonna stay in until the end..precita wrote:So at this point what's Gohan going to do? Beat either Dyspo or Toppo and then lose?

Man, 17 and 18 are getting some massive love from the writers this arc.
18 especially. Never in a million years did I expect her to outlast Piccolo and become one of the major players in the tournament.

To be honest I am not that surprised that U4 is out already. It seems to me that both 3 and 4 only survived this long because all the significant fights happened first, not because they are that spectacular. It was obvious from the beginning who the main focus of the arc is.
Shame about Piccolo, though. Goku, Roshi, 18 and perhaps 17 had the best performance in the tournament (so far at least) when it comes to U7. The others had there moments but I feel they could have done more with them, in particular with Tien and Piccolo.

He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.

I am done. They couldn't even have Piccolo go in a good way. I may be back for the next arc but that is very unlikely now. His action last week has been ruined now.

People are going to freak about Piccolo. Shame, really.
After the two Zamasus fused and the greatness that was the Future Trunks arc ended the way it did, my expectations dropped for Super completely and I became numb to most of the stupidity that Super spews from time to time. This could also be us just overreacting and can possibly be one of those "wait until the episode" moments, but come now, Piccolo accidentally falling from the stage? Ugh. Not a good way to get rid of such a character.

I can't believe what I read in these spoilers everyone else is getting so much even Roshi before has got more. I bet it is a joke scene as well. Is this how really how Toriyama treats a character like Piccolo.precita wrote:It's time to quit watching Super forever.namekiansaiyan wrote:I am done. They should have at least let Piccolo beat Frost, but oh well.namekiansaiyan wrote:I can't believe what I read in these spoilers everyone else is getting so much even Roshi before has got more. I'm very disappointed about the turn of events as well -- not just with Piccolo's untimely demise but also the oversaturation of some while neglecting so many of the characters around them. You have a treasure trove of potential development value and it's squandered for the most part to accommodate a select few faces. Sad to say but Goku in particular is one character whom, despite being the protagonist, I'm growing tired of seeing every episode.
Personally, I'm not about to give up the show but this arc has really been a collection of missed opportunities. Somehow the Future Trunks arc appears to have a better quality to itself, in retrospect.

I just hope Piccolo will take out Shantsa before he goes down.
Gowasu's number 1 fan.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I can't believe Piccolo and 17 never get to team up.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Wait, I thought Piccolo being a saiyan shield was a bad thing? Killing Cell before he was born isn't really important because the androids would never have survived in the first place ala super saiyan grade 2 and Cell never would have found Goku or Vegeta.Whatever wrote:In the Freeza saga Piccolo saved Goku from Freeza as well.Totamo wrote: No, I'm not attacking anyone for disliking Piccolo's treatment, they have a right to. I'm just saying a lot of people are overestimating how much he actually mattered in the original and shouldn't say he was important in all of z or that he was special, he wasn't especially in the manga.
2. Everyone was stupid in that arc, man. No one is intelligent or off the hook.
Also, its thanks to Piccolo that Trunks and Krillin discovered Present Cell and killed him, also if not for Piccolo being strong in that point in the series,Cell would simply go and absorb Goku and Vegeta's energy instead of hiding and absorbing humans.
So yeah Piccolo did important things in the Cell saga even outside of him becoming the strongest of the team for one point.
In the Buu saga he did nothing and was irrelevant in every aspect,so yeah for 2/3 parts of Z Piccolo was important both story and power wise.
Even if you are correct, that ain't a lot compared to the saiyans, which is what you all have an issue with. Piccolo was treated worse than other charcters.
