I don't think your assessment of RoF is accurate. It wasn't necessarily because they were fodder, its because the tiering was all over the place.Totamo wrote:Counterpoint. When the z fighters fought freeza soldiers in the movie, a lot of people found it insulting because they were fighting fodder. No one want to see them fight fodder but big dogs. Second, if they struggle but Goku and Vegeta are around and stronger, can't Goku and Vegeta just do it themselves? Like usually.TheMikado wrote:I don't think it has to be either or though.Totamo wrote: Don't lie.
If every U7 fighter had one solofight but was then knocked out, you would complain about lack of eliminations or screentime.
If every U7 fighter had ton of eliminations but was then knocked out, you would complain about lack of solofights and screentime.
If every U7 had good screentime but was then knocked out, you would complain about lack of solofights and eliminations.
I know this because this has been the reaction everytime someone from our team lost. Even Roshi was bitched about because he did too much.
People want their characters to do more, but that comes with a cost, other characters will have to do less. This is a monkey paw game and its time to accept that.
You wanted Piccolo to do something, he did. Sorry, it wasn't more, but guess what they could have just had Goku here and said screw off to everyone else. Then something becomes nothing.
For instance, Roshi didn't need to fight Frost. He could just fight some fodder.
Goku doesn't need to fight fodder characters reserve them for Roshi,Krillin, Tien.
I think people want them to:
-fight characters that are on their level to make the fights interesting and believable
-not all lost fights end in eliminations. Or if they do then its applies evenly to Goku and Vegeta as well. That way the tension is heightened.
-View non-universe 6/7 fights and have them have actual outcomes. Thus fair these two universes have elimination 95% of the fighters. When statistically they should only account for 25% if fighting levels were competitive.
-Show unique traits that characters have in use them in novel ways. Piccolo should have a ton of inventive techniques which would work well. I would have liked to see Krillin's destructo disc used to cut off sections of the ring.
There are a ton of things which could have been done with 80 fighters in a melee. Everyone has a different opinion of what could be done but it could definitely have been improved.
People say they want to see those fights but they really don't because you don't care about those characters, which would be the complaint. Also people will say they rather see their favorite character fight.
Everyone in dragon ball fights the same, this has been said for years, why do you think xenoverse has to make up moves.
Of course, more can be done, but its not an easy thing to do. There is a reason why most battle shonen don't do battle royales, its too difficult to write, hell of a lot more difficult to draw and insanely more difficult to animate. None of you have once taken in account of that.
People have said this arc has no ambition, that couldn't be more of a lie. This arc was too ambitous, there was no way they could pull all off and people are angry that they couldn't.
You are all free to criticize the show but always remember don't just see a show from a viewing aspect but also a production one.
Roshi, Krillin, and Gohan are all fighting henchmen, but realistically those should be three different tiers.
Roshi should be getting decimated. Krillin should be able to dominate the 95% of Frieza's army based on their power levels during Namek. And Gohan should be powerful enough to take on Frieza directly.
The thing people are complaining about is the same problem we have here. The tiering seems inconsistent. Goku and Vegeta should be preoccupied with fighting people Roshi can't win against.
For instance Gohan or Piccolo should have been the ones fighting Frost because the tiering would be more similar. I keep saying continuing the problems of the past isn't a valid argument.
People fighting the same in Dragonball is a problem. People were hoping for more when you have an 80 character roster. Again committing the same issues of the past but several times worse is not a plausible excuse. Its still just bad.
The idea of battle royales being difficult doesn't make sense when we had those in Dragonball already, complete with tiers. 25th Tournament: Jewel and Killa are the bottom tier and immediately eliminated for attempting to fight above their tier. Mr. Satan is mid-tier, and 18/Mighty Mask are upper. I'm really not understanding the last part, if they couldn't effectively pull off a battle royale then they probably shouldn't have done it.
If you can't effectively paint a house, or build a car, or do something it is probably a better idea to do something you can do well rather than do something poorly. People are mad because its done poorly even when compared against its peers. The idea that they should get points for trying is going to a be a personal decision, not an expectation.

Vegeta won't get UI ( my opinion only) but he's not gonna get one shotted or go out like a total chump. Remember Hit put up a fight with jiren and kefla actually landed a couple ki blasts on UI goku. It wouldn't surprise me if they combined his time chamber training + desire to protect his family + typical vegeta never quit attitude and gave him some OP ass power boost in SSB or a higher form of blue itself.

Kefla is way stronger than Vegeta.
Vegeta shouldn't land a hit. He might get one lucky one because of some emotional bollocks but that is it if they want to show consistency with Jirens power and skill.

Nobody would have predicted either of those things.
Also they can't fill a 19 minute episode and have vegeta get one shotted.

I'm going to bet that Universe 7 is going to lose more members after Universe 3 is out. I think Goku, Freeza and Gohan will be the last ones standing.

Goku, Gohan and Frieza vs Dyspo, Toppo and Jiren.

Bye bye piccolo's relevance to dragonball for good. TOei just admit he is too much for you to animate and stop feeding fans rubber bones.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I really don't get Piccolo's treatment. Toei even had him "die" in the episodes of Return of F when he didn't die in the movie. In fact he's still to this day the only main character who died in Super.
Then he gets humiliated by Frost in the Universe 6 tournament. Then in the TOP he's mostly in the background the entire thing, he got 1 decent battle against that fighting guy, and then was mostly there to charge a beam against the Nameks. And that's all.
What the hell.

At least Tien had a decent showing in Return of F.
Gohan was also treated poorly in Super all till now, but it looks like they're at least trying to redeem him.

I keeping thinking this with Piccolo as he is always drawn crap in Super and I tolerate bad art a lot more than others and so tbeh try and have him fight as few times as possible. It is probably why we never got any random fights in the tournament or action moments from him. The same with Saonel and Pirina and is probably why they didn't get their own dedicated episode.Arg wrote:Bye bye piccolo's relevance to dragonball for good. Believe in the long game with Piccolo. He now has 2 Namekians who are way stronger than him so it can only be a good thing for him in the future. Fans of Piccolo know they will see him fight again but for fans of anyone else from team Universe 7 not named Goku or Vegeta know that there is a very good chance that they will never fight again.
We know Piccolo will be back fighting again but for Gohan fans like you or people that are fans of Androids and Frieza you know they may never fight again.Ki Breaker wrote:Him and tien, both are in pretty bad shapeprecita wrote:I really don't get Piccolo's treatment. No offense but you`re starting to sound as if nothing less than the way the story has been handled would be an impossibility. There`s the adage that you can never please everybody but surely you can try to please fanbases with something more? How many universes are here? How many have been given any spotlight? How many episodes Goku had with just one fight?Totamo wrote:Don't lie.namekiansaiyan wrote:All Universe 7 members could easily get their own moment with universe 7 not dominating. It is not hard. The Trio de dangers could have lost to Goku and Vegeta but not be eliminated and they could have faced other fighters. They spent way too much time on certain characters even know we know there are other fights happening.
The tournament only seems to move when Goku is involved as well which is the major problem.

And next week we get Jump Festa Info, if they announce Planet Sadala Arc, then things would get worse for Piccolo tbh(the Saiyan girls would eat A LOT of screen time in 2018).
The only way Piccolo gets as relevant as Z is if Toyotaro takes over, and Toriyama retires imo.

If they go to Universe 6 then most likely the whole of Universe 6 will be involved. That includes Frost, Hit, Saonel, Pirina and Botamo. Dr Rota wouod probably be the only exception.
