Goku barely took a backseat in the Buu saga, at best he took a leisurely stroll round back while everyone else cried for him to come back.

So they have more time to animate the important episodes.

That really isn't how that works and you're not using the word 'filler' correctly since U3 is still part of this tournament and them getting eliminated moves the story. So how is them fighting 'filler'?

That is how it works, episodes are generally worked on until the very week they're aired.

Because it's totally unimportant. Copy Vegeta also moved the story forward but ultimately didn't matter at all.

I am hoping for something better too, was looking forward to U4 a good deal like many others :) ..........then Toei undercutted them to many fans disappointment for whatever strange reasons in Toei's writing world. :eh:

Sounds like U3, one I was looking forward to at the start then got less interested in, it sounds like they maybe more of a major threat this go around. Lets hope that is so!
Yeah, hopefully aniraza is as powerful as he seems to look, which to me he looks badass.

They're not unimportant since they're still part of the tournament, so it isn't 'filler'. Copy-Vegeta didn't move the plot into the Future Trunks Saga, was its own story that wrap-up, and honestly, this example is a reach.

Alright, the recruitment episodes then. Most of them were pointless wastes of time that could have been done in 3 or 4 episodes.

How is Goku gathering the team, them training, and seeing the other universes fill their team 'filler'? The only real filler parts were the space poachers and Tien's school.

Goku didn't need to spend nearly that long gathering the team. If they needed to pad out that many episodes it should have mostly been other universes rather than the same old guys we've already seen.

A lot of those 'same old guys' got development like Roshi whose 'training' with Puar was called pointless filler too, until we saw that it did effect Roshi. We then have everything with Gohan.

Most of that could have happened off-screen. Did we need to see Tenshinhan get completely humiliated twice? Also, Gohan's supposedly been training since RoF so there was no need to see him at it yet again, we already get the point, not like he did anything new. Also, did Kuririn really need 2 reboot arcs? How many times does this guy need to regain his fighting spirit? On the whole lots of disappointing time wasting.

The dude is definitly inspired by hatchiyack. I wonder if toyotaro was the one who designed it.

Why would you want character development, especially ones that actually effects the plot, to be off-scene. Gohan trained off and on since Resurrection 'F', but no hardcore training. Especially one that addressed the flaws that got him in trouble in the Cell and Buu Saga, not just personal strength. Krillin didn't get a reboot since his recruitment was a continuation of Episodes 75 and 76, this time with 18. Krillin also only regained his fighting spirit once, not sure what other time you're thinking of.

It seem like in the ToP Toei is trying to bring over some of their other Popular Character Designs and ideals in new and uqnie ways into the Main Canon Dragon Ball Anime Lore!

* We 1st had the New Female Broly ~~~ Homage to Broly of Course!

* Now this Aniraza Guy Seemingly from U3 ~~~ A VERY Similar Look to Hatchiyack from Eradicated the Saiyans Special!

Indeed if this is so I am liking this Homaging Approach, I hope they keep it up making classic characters designs and ideas into the Main-Anime-Canon!

Rather than having him train on and off they should have just had him be serious, it'd make more sense than him reaching Blue level in a few hours. And Kuririn definitely didn't need that many episodes dedicated to him, and most of that character development was pointless since the humans barely even accomplished anything.

Gohan's entire character is that he doesn't train seriously unless something bad is happening. Him training again was more about Gohan getting back in shape than him getting stronger. Also, most of Gohan's growth came from him getting over his mental block.

He only had one episode dedicated to him for this arc. The other two were before this saga even started. Krillin also have several knockouts and saved 18 who nearly got rung out, so saying the humans barely even accomplished anything isn't true.
