I'll just get this out of the way here and now and say I'm perfectly content with my FUNi box-sets. Seriously, there's nothing these singles can offer me that the FUNi releases for GT doesn't. But good fortune and best of luck to those of you whom care about the video quality hardcore enough to want these.

I'm completely ignorant when it comes to FUNi's releases for GT, but did they have the different variations of the opening and the previews? I do know that, unfortunately, they tinkered with the color palette (since people have posted pictures here) but that's about the extent of my knowledge.Conan the SSJ wrote:I'll just get this out of the way here and now and say I'm perfectly content with my FUNi box-sets. Yes, sir. All episodes have their proper opening and ending sequences with their Japanese credits (episodes 17-22 even have translated alternate angles for them IIRC), all next-episode previews remain, and eye-catchers of course stay. Kick-ass?MajinVejitaXV wrote:I'm completely ignorant when it comes to FUNi's releases for GT, but did they have the different variations of the opening and the previews?

Hm...figures that GT of all things DragonBall would get a "full" release ;pConan the SSJ wrote:Yes, sir. I'm considering them and I actually was wanting more input on the FUNI releases of GT. What you say seems to be what others have said. I currently do have a bit more disposable income and wouldn't mind purchasing them since there will only be so few of them (I can get subtitles for them myself and put them on, so that's not the issue). But 'how much' of a quality improvement is there? Is there a GT Box comparison thread anywhere? I've got awhile to decide, but if I go with it, I'm getting them on pre-order and saving 25%.Conan the SSJ wrote:I'll just get this out of the way here and now and say I'm perfectly content with my FUNi box-sets. Why must you ALWAYS say this, as if you have EVER bought a single R2 (DB/Z/GT, Japan) in your life?
We KNOW.

I don't always bring it up, jackass.ETC123 wrote:What is wrong with you?

Get off my back, if you have a problem with me, take it up in a PM. All I did was just make my feelings of the matter clear and wished best of luck to those getting these releases. It's not like I went all "FUNi's releases have subs, therefore they're better, w00tz!" This isn't your message board, stop acting like such a neurotic prick every time a FUNi release is even slightly praised. I have no problem with the Japanese single releases, but like I said, I just won't be buying them because there's a better option for me.
And actually, I have bought an R2 single, thank you very much.

I'm actually with ETC123 on this one.
You went out of your way to make the second post in the thread and preemptively make certain comments (which others are obviously aware of your constant stating in other conversations of the same type)... which, I'll point out, have in the past forced me to take administrative action. Your statements were easily taken by this reader (read: me) as sarcastic and pompous; it's irrelevant whether or not you intended them to be read that way, since two completely different readers just interpreted them that way. It was an absolutely unnecessary post that added nothing to a conversation that didn't even get a chance to begin.
This conversation is over. Please return to the topic at hand.

I'm exited for them to release the cover art; I can't wait to see the SS4's, Goten, Uub, Nouva, ect. in the Dragon Box singles' gorgious style. It's definatly my favorite artwork for DB DVDs.
If Funimation's volumes paralleled these, it might be worth buying them just to stick my US disks in these cases. Maybe they'll release a book or something that has all of the cover art in it. If not at least there's Kanzentai.com

Like Conan, I'm good with my FUNI singles.
I'd rather sacrifice some minor pallet changes for $5 than get a perfectly good pallet for like $30.
But to each his own.
*hordes money and hides in safe*
But out of curiosity, since I'm new to the whole singles thing, what are all of the perks to having R2 DVDs? A hear a lot of really good things about the R2 sets.

Well, they're basically just reissues of the Dragon Box discs with different menus, and lots of new cover art. (And, if you didn't know, the Dragon Boxes were pretty much the highest quality version of the series available, with true frame-by-frame clean up.) So it's an easier way of getting that quality a little bit at a time, rather than having to cough up a lot at once for something limited edition (which now means paying probably much more through auction sites).Supa Saiya-Jin Tullece wrote:But out of curiosity, since I'm new to the whole singles thing, what are all of the perks to having R2 DVDs? Personally, while I definitely want the singles for DB and DBZ, I'm still not sure about DBGT, since I don't like it as much and FUNi's version has all the Japanese credits and previews. But if the cover art is pretty enough, and I suddenly get a better income, I may end up changing my mind.

I plan on getting all the R2 singles since you can get all 49 of the Z ones from Celga/Yahoo Japan Auctions for at least an average of $700 (even cheaper than one Z dragonbox). My only gripe so far with the R2 singles is the uncertainty of the bonus material (Bardock, Trunks, Playdia footage, GT special, DB specials) since nothing's been announced yet. I do have the loose bonus discs of the Z and GT dragonboxes, but I want them in their nice cases..TripleRach wrote:Well, they're basically just reissues of the Dragon Box discs with different menus, and lots of new cover art. That's actually the main reason I haven't bought anything yet. I'm waiting to see if any of that stuff, at least the TV specials, get single releases when the movies do.Castor Troy wrote:I plan on getting all the R2 singles since you can get all 49 of the Z ones from Celga/Yahoo Japan Auctions for at least an average of $700 (even cheaper than one Z dragonbox). Well if they do they have no excuse to make them even better like adding extra commercials from all the games they didn't add yet, meaning all games that have been released after the Dragon Boxes and some of the forgotten ones.Castor Troy wrote:My only gripe so far with the R2 singles is the uncertainty of the bonus material (Bardock, Trunks, Playdia footage, GT special, DB specials) since nothing's been announced yet. I do wonder though how come you have the loose discs of the Z and GT extra's but still need to buy the single releases.
Also does anybody know what is the content of the last original Dragon Ball singleis , does it have the extra's the Dragon Box had, or is it not released yet?
Anyway if they do release the extra's later on and there is more content on the dvd's I might even buy an extra copy of the specials
