Piccolo-Daimaoh question.
When Piccolo-Daimaoh or "King Piccolo", when he was beaten by Goku going right through his torso. Yet aren't Namekians able to regenerate as long as their head is still intact? I recall Piccolo being shot through the chest twice, and being broken into pieces yet he can still regenerate.
Maybe there's something I'm overlooking, but an answer would be appreciated.

I don't think King Piccolo ever used his regenerative powers. So in an out-of-universe answer, Toriyama probably hadn't thought of that yet. For an in-universe answer, maybe King Piccolo didn't have enough energy left to regenerate with (he had just been in a pretty tough fight) or maybe something about his nature prevented him from regenerating at all.

We gotta keep in mind, Daimao was extremely exhausted/fatigued in power, having launched two massive Destructive Blast attacks that both failed to kill Goku; in addition to the major battle he'd just had with him. The impaling blow Goku gives him most likely takes out several vital internal organs and Daimao knows he has nowhere near enough energy to try regenerating. Do remember, it's brought up much later that a considerable supply of Ki is needed to regenerate for Namekians, as seen with Nail and Piccolo when he battles Imperfect Cell. So naturally, a blow on Daimao who's just been in as big a battle as he has and used as much energy/Ki, this is a fatal blow no matter what. Also think of the blunt trauma attack Piccolo receives from Nappa, regenerating isn't the issue, but the complete diminishing of Ki and life-energy.

The attack Goku used was probably so powerful that he probably couldn't focus on regenerating. I think this only works when they are partially hurt. I don't think regenerating is something that can always be done, unless Cell is doing it.

Plus the fact that he might've been too tired and/or used up so much of his own energy during the battle that he didn't have the stength to regenerate his torso area.Super Saiyan Turlast x4 wrote:The attack Goku used was probably so powerful that he probably couldn't focus on regenerating.
And also, I'm pretty sure Namekians have hearts like humans. And if that is the case, I'd like to think that that particular organ is needed the most in order to regenerate. Goku probably damaged his heart with that punch, most likely making it extremely difficult to preform the regeneration technique.
Just a little theory of mine.

Except it first happens in DB during his fight with Goku at the tournament.TheGreatness25 wrote:I think Akira Toriyama thought of that trick in DBZ to make Piccolo's arm being cut off seem more dramatic and then he kind of looked at it, said, "holy crap, one of my main characters is without an arm..." and did a little cheating trick to say, "no no guys it's okay, he can grow it back!"

It could also be due to the fact that King Piccolo might not really be a full Namekian, being the evil side of Kami. But then how did he produce Piccolo? This is really confusing...

Or, perhaps regeneration is a technique exclusive to warrior Namekians, which Piccolo Daimou technically wasn't, but Piccolo "Jr" was. IIRC, I don't believe we've ever seen anyone besides Piccolo or Nail regenerate.

Nail did regenerate, need we bring back up the arm scratching joke of Freeza's? ;pSSj Kaboom wrote:Or, perhaps regeneration is a technique exclusive to warrior Namekians, which Piccolo Daimou technically wasn't, but Piccolo "Jr" was. That's what I said. He and Piccolo were the only ones ever seen regenerating. I don't believe Kami or any of the Namekian "elders" ever did it.Conan the SSJ wrote:Nail did regenerate, need we bring back up the arm scratching joke of Freeza's? ;pSSj Kaboom wrote:Or, perhaps regeneration is a technique exclusive to warrior Namekians, which Piccolo Daimou technically wasn't, but Piccolo "Jr" was. For some reason I find the idea of seeing Saichoro and Muri's limbs getting ripped off to be rather entertaining, but then again I cheered when Saichoro died, he reminded me too much of Jabba the hutt.
Anyway, my thoughts were basically that Daimao's ki was too low to regenerate such a serious injury, either from fighting Goku, or the fact he might not have been strong enough in the first place to heal such an injury.
