I was talking about feelings towards their series. This is still talking about the official dubs of the shows because I'm comparing them & Drummond. Confusing, I know, but try & keep up.puar wrote:dident you said not to talk about TFS in this forum and that it has its own thread?Scsigs wrote:Can't believe I'm going to bring this up, but love how everyone's praising Drummond's casting as a nod to both the fanbase & the old dubs from Canada, but people were more divided that Team Four Star was originally in Kai before Toei forced them to change the voices for that scene.
Sorry, don't wanna spoil the mood, but I felt it was worth bringing up at least once here.

That parts not my opinion. What I meant was, if someone was watching Dragon Ball dubbed, Kid Goku is voiced by Nadolny. Then flashback in Kai and Super, it's Clinkenbeard.sangofe wrote:That's your opinion. Not everyone shares it so saying "supersaiyandoctor wrote:This. Who'd wanna constantly hear Clinkenbeard as kid Goku, though? For me, it's Nadolny as kid Goku, or nothing when it comes to these dubs.
Maybe they'll get One Piece back to mirror the Japanese airings of the shows. I'd certainly like that as a substitution.
if someone was to watch Dragon Ball, it's Nadolny for every episode." is not the right thing to say.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
So, late to the party, but I just learned about Drummond being Clone Vegeta...........
...........And I may or may not have screamed like a little girl out of sheer excitement. This was freaking genius on the part of Sabat (or whoever came up with the idea) to cast Drummond, and Drummond sounds as fantastic as ever. That would have been enough, but now they're both in the same dub? Playing the same character? Fighting each other!? HOW. FREAKING. COOL!!!!!!!!!!
PS: This takes the term "Sabat VS Drummond" to a whole new level.

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

TFS doesin't even compare, Drummond is from a part of official DBZ dub history. He has his place and should be respected, TFS is a sub genre at best. I enjoy what they do, but there popularity is a double edged sword. There's something wrong when I walk into a hot Topic and I see a "just saiyan" T-shirt. That leaves a bad taste in my mouth, DBZA should never come close to feeling like a part of the franchise, the series is silly enough, it doesn't need a legion of fans thinking it's some valid and alternate way to watch the series. That's far worse than the nostalgia fans that only want there toonami version, quality be damned.

Because Drummond was the official voice for Vegeta back in he day and there thousands of fans who saw the Ocean dub first. Comparing them to TFS, a parody, isn't the same thing. I know you have some like undying devotion to TFS, but come on.Scsigs wrote:Can't believe I'm going to bring this up, but love how everyone's praising Drummond's casting as a nod to both the fanbase & the old dubs from Canada, but people were more divided that Team Four Star was originally in Kai before Toei forced them to change the voices for that scene.

What makes Drummond's return so awesome is that it's basically having your cake and eating it too situation. The narrative of the dub stays the same while simultaneously throwing long time fan's a cool nostalgic easter egg and elevates two Vegeta's fighting to something more memorable.
Now, if they start spewing over 9000 memes at each other, that's another matter, you understaaaaand?

On top of that, it'll be cool--in my opinion, at least--to hear certain interactions we never thought we'd hear in a Dragon Ball dub. It will be both weird and awesome to hear Drummond's Vegeta going up against Schemmel's Goku!MR.Mark wrote:What makes Drummond's return so awesome is that it's basically having your cake and eating it too situation. It really was a genius move, if Funi can find more creative ways to bring Scott Mcneil and other Ocean actors into the Super dub I'm all for it.

Did Drummond traveled to Texas to record the lines for Copy Vegeta, or he just made it in some additional studio in Canada since he lives there?
Also, Scott McNeil as one of the U6 Namekians would be amazing, and also can be possible to happen, since Scott already did other stuff for Funi like Shiki in One Piece and Van Hohenheim in the first Fullmetal Alchemist series.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
We don't know for sure. A new convention focused exclusively on Dragon Ball called Kamehame-con is going to take place in Dallas, and since both Sabat and FUNimation are in Dallas--and both Sabat and Drummond are announced guests at that convention--I thought for a second that maybe Drummond just took the opportunity to pop in to FUNimation while he was already in town. Upon looking at the dates for that convention, though, it looks like it won't even be until next year anyway, so I guess that theory's out.SaintEvolution wrote:Did Drummond traveled to Texas to record the lines for Copy Vegeta, or he just made it in some additional studio in Canada since he lives there?

How funny would it be if Copy Vegeta says, "I'll send you into the next dimension!"

#45 title:"Vegeta Disappears?! Menace of the Duplicate Vegeta!"
Getting Drummond to play Copy Vegeta, getting Marsters to play Zamasu, having the idea of getting a TFS to do a Cell Games parody (I am not a fan of them but even I acknowledge that was cool). Sabat is off the hook amazing. Didn't FUNi say they wanted this dub to perfect, looks like they are just doing that!
I think this is one of the benefits of a weekly schedule they are able to take their time with things.

That didn't even occur to me! Wow this is gonna be great, man this 2 week break is gonna suck more than anticipated!TheBlackPaladin wrote:On top of that, it'll be cool--in my opinion, at least--to hear certain interactions we never thought we'd hear in a Dragon Ball dub. This is what was originally going to air for the Cell Games Reenactment on Kai. I remember a toonami promo even showing a small bit of it

And Toei forced FUNImation to change the voices because they have something against TFS? Wow, that's surprising I though Toei didn't even know they existed.Dbzk1999 wrote:This is what was originally going to air for the Cell Games Reenactment on Kai. Oh, they know about them. What's weird though is how much they care that they exist. Continual copyright takedowns on YouTube, asking them to stop selling posters they made themselves that feature Dumplin at a con, & them being in Kai removed. This has been going on for some time.Noah wrote:And Toei forced FUNImation to change the voices because they have something against TFS? TFS is great, but it's also done a lot of damage to the series. It's REALLY annoying to see TFS quotes plastered in the comments of ANYTHING Dragon Ball related as if it's funny. "DODGE" wasn't funny the 10,586th time someone said it, and it's not going to be somehow funny the 10,587th time.MR.Mark wrote:TFS doesin't even compare, Drummond is from a part of official DBZ dub history. They've also tricked a chunk of the fanbase into thinking MADE UP JOKES are CANON, like Goku being a terrible father who hates his kids (not going to entertain anyone that seriously thinks this, you just straight up don't understand the character if you truly believe that).
Hahahahaha Piccolo is Gohan's real dad hahahahaha! Am I funny yet guys!????
EDIT: I want to be VERY clear that I'm NOT blaming TFS for doing what they do. I am blaming the fanbase at large for how they are perceiving TFS. TFS has done nothing wrong and I love their work, it's just unfortunate that it has inadvertently created quite a...let's just undesirable chunk of the fanbase that borderline considers TFS as credible as actual dubs or canon.
