Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
Hey guys,
Does anyone know (possibly based off the Z Kai set release dates) when Funimation will likely start selling Super as season sets? Is that a long way off? The Parts are cool looking and all but for collection purposes, I would rather them as season sets like my Z stuff.
Thanks

I love the subs too. I love everything about Dragon Ball.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
At least a year, maybe a year & a half. I say that amount of time based on the One Piece Collection sets, which the DBZ Kai Season Sets & other similar sets are based on. DBZ Kai in particular had to wait a year & 6 months before the first season set was initially released after the first part. Afterwards, the seasons get released at least 1 year after one of the parts in those sets. Part 1 of Kai was released on 5/18/10 & season 1 was released on 10/18/11, Part 4 was released on 3/8/10 & Season 2 was released on 3/15/12, Part 5 was released on 6/28/11 & Season 3 was released 6/15/12, &, finally, Part 7 was released on 3/20/12 & Season 4 was released on 3/12/13.supersaiyandoctor wrote:Hey guys,

The first One Piece Voyage set was released on 5/27/08 & Collection 1 was released on 7/26/13 & they continued every 2-3 months until they caught up with where FUNi was releasing more Voyage sets when they started the dub back up in 2013, but then they had to wait almost 2 years between Collection 8 & 9 to release more & if you look at the release dates, they eventually got to a point where they release the Collections either a year after, or in between, one of the Voyages that are included in the sets.
Hope that answers all your questions & then some.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

Hard to tell from the very few videos that are out there, but Schemmel's Black voice sounds like a more refined version of his XV2 performance. Personally, I don't mind the british accent. A lot of people think british accents sound sophisticated, which suits Black's character. Nozawa gives such a deadpan delivery though, which is what I feel is missing from Schemmel's.
I still don't think it's 100% fair to judge before we actually hear the voices in the anime though, since the deliveries in video game dubs always sound worse than their anime counterpart.

Doubtful since Brian Drummond wasn't officially announced until the episode aired.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:Good timing Gus! This week's Dragon Ball Super ratings were off the charts! All thanks to Brian Drummond. LOL.

Thanks so much for giving me such an in depth response. That's quite a gap between the releases, though it makes sense monetary wise for Funimation I guess. I will probably just wait for the season sets when they eventually come out. I find it strange they keep cutting the sets off one episode before each arc ends and I'm assuming the season sets will do the same.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
I think it was a ton of people who were confused about it being the premiere of the Future Trunks arc. I mean, look at Sabat's & FUNimation's tweets about the last episode. Many people thought that it was that & I was just sitting on my laptop thinking, "Do you people not pay attention to the episodes? Why would you think it was that arc? We still have 3 episodes to go." I get that Future Trunks COULD be the "person from Dragon Ball's past" they were talking about, but NO ONE was paying attention to the schedule? Really? So many stupids, man.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:Oh...then I hope whatever made everyone tune in this week happens to happen again and again, whatever it was.

Then I hope these people keep tuning in again. Anime on TV needs to thrive more.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
Relatively, I think they could easily put the dubs on Netflix & Hulu & other digital platforms both dubbed & subbed at the same time & I think they'd do really well. It just has to get the right word of mouth, like Attack on Titan, which I actually didn't hear about until right before the dub was gonna come out & so I got the Blu-Rays, since Netflix doesn't have the dub for some reason. Same with Kai, only it's not on Netflix.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:Then I hope these people keep tuning in again. Anime on TV needs to thrive more.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing. I've had a few requests to do a video on Dragon Ball Super's Blu-Rays for my YouTube channel & I'm waiting for the season sets, since they're more economical for me to get than the parts. We can probably expect the first set sometime next year probably around December or even January 2019, or something. I hope it's not THAT long a wait, but if they're gonna wait a year & a half, that's most likely gonna be the result.supersaiyandoctor wrote:Thanks so much for giving me such an in depth response. Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
Toei is all about old school tv, so I doubt that will happen. I also kind of love Dragon Ball is the last bastion for TV Anime. Last week both DBS and DBZKai did over 1 million! Isnt that cool!?
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
I'm sorry to ruin it for you and others but drummond is NOT a good vegeta. its fine as copy vegeta when you do a little homage but not as a regular leading voice actor. no just no. sabat is way betterDragon Ball Gus wrote:Why hasn't anyone responded to my recent comment?!?!?You know what would be Super awesome? (Pun intended, as always). If we had an Ocean dub of Super, and while Drummond voices Regular Vegeta, It would be Sabat who voices Copy Vegeta. Tell me that wouldn't be dope!

I didn’t see anybody replying to this, but in an AMA on Reddit yesterday, Chris Sabat confirmed Drummond recorded his lines in Canada from his studio there.SaintEvolution wrote:Did Drummond traveled to Texas to record the lines for Copy Vegeta, or he just made it in some additional studio in Canada since he lives there?

Just saw this on Reddit from FUNi:

This Reddit post said it best:
“To commemorate their lives, here’s a small montage of each of them getting fucking trashed.”
Honestly seems like the kind of shit Vados would pull.
