That was awesome, it's probably funnier if I knew who this "Konota-chan" was though...

I think that's irrelevant, but ok, to each his own. To me the funny part is the song being sang in screams and shrieks.

Few things.

1. i don't get it.
2. The voice makes me want to slug a newborn.
3. I've heard that Lucky Star is good, maybe I should go and watch that to see if I'll find it funny afterward.
4. The turned SSJ when the chorus hit.

"Kona-chan" or Izumi Konata is one of the main characters in Lucky Star and is the otaku of the group.

For those who want a brief description of Lucky Star, it's originally a 4-koma manga spawning out one season of anime from Kadokawa studios, most known for Keroro/Sgt Frog and Suzumiya Haruhi. Each episode is mainly built up of random yet funny conversations between the main girls and because of Konata's otaku-ness, theres a lot of references to current and past anime.

As for the endings, each one for the first half of the season is a segment of the 4 main girls at a karaoke bar and as you'd expect, Kona-chan singing anime themes, #5 being CHA-LA-HEAD-CHA-LA

Izumi Konata is voiced by Hirano Aya and pulls out all the stops with this character. The video below is to her latest track, which you wouldn't have guessed is the same person singing:

That was amazing. I don't remember Konata getting so out of breath at the end, but amazing none-the-less. :D

And more people need to watch Lucky Star! It's a light-hearted slice-of-life show, but anyone who's been a fan of anime for more than a few years will find the show to be hilarious.

Yeah, you do that. Just know that the first episode is boring as hell. It would propably be better to start with episode 4, and then go back to watch episodes 1, 2 and 3 later on. There's no actual ongoing plot in the series (Or, there is a small sub-plot in episode 14 and 15, but the entire series can basically be watched in any order. Everything from episode 19 and out should be watched in the correct order, though, as there are several parts that just shouldn't be seen earlier than they're supposed to.)

Yeah, the first director for the series didn't do too great of a job with the show. Thankfully they brought on the guy who directed Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu?

/off-topic discussion

I'd really like to see even more DB/Z homages in anime like the on in Lucky Star (I think it was the episode 6 or 7 ending where Konata sung Cha-La-Head-Cha-La). I know there have been a lot of Super Saiyan references in the past, but I'd like to see more like this one. :D

Wow. I watched 1,2, and 3 and hated them all. So boring. It was as if they purposely weren't being funny, because it was blatant when they were.

I've been circling and poking with a stick the idea of checking out Lucky Star for a while now. I've been so put off from it by the rest of the internet that I'm afraid of what could be in store...

It is pretty old. I've had the full version in my signature for over a month :P

To be honest, there's nothing going on right now that I can change it to...

I gotta say, though, that ending makes for perfect ammunition against anti-DB anime snobs.

"What's that? DragonBall Z sucks, you say? Well apparently, your precious Konota-chan begs to differ..."

Lucky Star is one of the most devious tricks in anime today. It's an experiment, you see. The girls in the show act cute 100 percent of the time yet funny only 20 percent of the time, and then it's not even so good. Any time when they aren't funny it seems like they're purposely trying to not be funny. I think the whole point of the show is to show that some otaku will eat a " cute " show like that up regardless of if it has any substance or not. The best part of the entire show is the opening.
