If your talking about super then ok fine but before super vegeta actually surpassed goku multiple times.

Within in Z, he may have surpassed him at the beginning of the arc since even Piccolo said he 'may' be more powerful than Goku. He surpassed him after leaving the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for the first time, but after that he never again surpassed Goku in Z. Goku was behind Vegeta on Namek until he trained for six days and Vegeta never truly surpassed him in that arc.

That was a temporary rage boost. But I will say for the sake of argument, it counts. I will even thrown in that Vegeta may have surpassed Goku in Resurrection 'F', given that Goku thinks he could have, although Vegeta never confirmed it.

How is Goku holding back god made a character moment? He used Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan against 17 as a test, so he wasn’t holding back to save stamina.

The anime doesn’t focused Goku and Vegeta rival since Goku has a rivalry with Hit, while manga Hit and Goku don’t really have a realionship. And when was Vegeta Goku’s cheerleader in the anime?

Vegeta is always stating how he will surpass Goku in the anime and NEVER even close. In the manga, it is actually a roller coaster ride or they are equal. Goku testing 17 with lower modes than god is more in tune with Goku's character as he has a "bad habit of holding back." Rather than with the anime, him going Blue, which doesn't seem like something Goku would do.

Goku did fight #17 as a SSJ initially to test how strong #17 was. Then he went to SSJB when he realised that #17 was way more of a challenge than he expected. Goku even commented that he didn't intend to got to SSJB.

And it was noted that even in Blue, Goku was holding back, so he's perfectly within character. And the "bad habit of holding back" line is only one the anime ironically enough, not the manga.

That line is shown in the manga more tho. Goku didn't reveal his trump card to a unknown like he did in the anime.
Add in Vegeta snarling at Goku when he used KK Blue against Hit. Vegeta spouting he will surpass Goku one time or a dozen doesn't matter. We all know that is his lifelong goal.

Except in the anime Goku fought with 17 against the poachers and talked to 17 directly before challenging him. It wasn't some random battle.

Vegeta was also pissed in the manga for Goku saving stamina using Super Saiyan God.

I think the anime is going for Jiren (and the Pirde Troopers in general) being a deconstruction of a Superhero(s), while the manga is playing it straight.

A martial artist wanting to fight a tournament is not ass hollish in the least.Goku also accidentally gave them a chance for survival.

Remember Goku gave these universe a chance to survive,the anime,especially the manga remind us this.We can say in the anime they are killing the competition .
