He didn't help Dyspo and Kunshi against Hit and Goku though, he just stood there and watched how his teammates are losing.Lapislettuce wrote:So it's going to be Goku and Vegets VS Jiren

I hope Dyspo eliminates 17 in 122, and Toppo eliminates Gohan in 124 or 125. Those 2 have 0 eliminations right now, and I feel like they deserve at least one before they go out.

Now if they focused on that bit of story, I'd care. His story arc was I don't want to fight til Bra is born. Bra is born. His story arc ended. We never show him spending much time Bra or having reflections on his family. All his lines instead are the most generic crap he always says. His purpose in this story is that he is popular and strong...at that's it. Nothing else tying him there. The story does not at all focus on his family being the center point of Vegeta's drive. Everything that made Vegeta so awesome in the previous arcs, and a favourite of mine is gone. It's like that amazing Vegeta was booted out by boring Vegeta. I want Black arc Vegeta back. Black arc Vegeta was more than just spouting bullshit I've heard a thousand times from him before.sintzu wrote:How could you say such a thing ?dbzfan7 wrote:Vegeta is the most generic character in this arc.The poor guy is fighting for his newborn daughter (and loyal fan base.

Besides, what an un-saiyan-like behaviour from Vegeta.
Akira Toriyama, DBS vol.4 joint interview with ToyotaroAt his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.

I doubt 17 is going anywhere on ep 122. both him and Toppo aren't mentioned so obviously they're keeping eachother busy. Gohan might go on ep 124 though it sounds like his farewell episode Toppo might eliminate someone from U7 and Dyspo might go with Gohan at the same time. also just because they haven't eliminated anyone doesn't mean they have to just come out of no where and eliminated built up characters last minute.TheDipDap1234 wrote:He didn't help Dyspo and Kunshi against Hit and Goku though, he just stood there and watched how his teammates are losing.Lapislettuce wrote:So it's going to be Goku and Vegets VS Jiren

I think people have very high expectations for Gohan it sounds like they want him to defeat all the pride troopers. he's obviously done enough and ep 124 sounds like he's completely hopeless. i don't see him going against either Jiren nor Toppo. 17 on the other hand with his unlimited stamina, raw strength, strategic way of thinking should be very useful. not to mention the barrier has come in handy for more than one occasion.

Concerning the new spoilers:
Gohan vs Dyspo has been a popular prediction for a very long time. So if you've predicted that, then maybe you're proud of getting yet another one right, or maybe you're happy to not be wrong this time. Either way, this one was a relatively obvious turn of events.
There's absolutely no mention of 17. That doesn't mean he's eliminated, but it does raise a few questions. I'm thinking that maybe 17 and Gohan are keeping Toppo busy while the other two fights are happening (until Gohan goes to help Frieza).
Vegeta gets his butt kicked by Jiren, but he isn't eliminated. That's interesting, and also funny due to "VEGETA'S GETTING ELIMINATED HAHAHAHAHA"-esque posts ending up wrong. Judging from the text, I don't think he's getting an Ultra Instinct-inducing beating, though.
I'm glad they're going to capitalise on Toppo being a God of Destruction candidate. It'd be weird if they didn't, honestly. I hope Frieza "survives" his Dyspo fight and is able to face Toppo, based on his wish to manipulate the gods.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Obvious to who? We are talking about a character that has once been considered for the MC seat, and the only character whose popularity has rivaled that of Goku during the Freeza and Cell sagas. His return to form has been an ongoing process since basically the beginning of Super yet he is expected to be the first to go from the top 5? Granted, nothing is saying this needs to be his arc, but still.Lapislettuce wrote:I think people have very high expectations for Gohan it sounds like they want him to defeat all the pride troopers. he's obviously done enough and ep 124 sounds like he's completely hopeless. i don't see him going against either Jiren nor Toppo. 17 on the other hand with his unlimited stamina, raw strength, strategic way of thinking should be very useful. not to mention the barrier has come in handy for more than one occasion.

17 is far more refreshing to watch than Gohan. Gohan's persona in and of itself is dull while his overall presence just gives off this watered down Goku vibe. Heck, I didn't even really like him much in the Buu saga when he was pounding Super Buu.pacz360 wrote:What does 17 offer? Both 17 and Frieza seem to have far more potential as characters; their pasts are shrouded by mystery and their power stems from something other than "just being a Saiyan"
Two exceptionally powerful non-Saiyans working with two Saiyans feels far more dynamic than a third wheel Saiyan tagging along with his cheesy, do-gooder antics. Plus, I've seen enough of Gohan back in DBZ, and was kind of hoping he wouldn't have a big role.

That’s why I refused to believe Jiren was the mortal they were talking about. It was way too soon for them to be fighting someone on Beerus level or above. I knew it wouldn’t make any sense. It’s just so rushed.Kenneth La Torre wrote:Dont worry, i know theres no defending if it turns out that toppo has been hidding power on hakaishin level, but the fact that he considers anyone on his level (if he is indeed hidding that much power) nothing to jiren, kinds of widens the gap between jiren and belmod a lot. to the point that jiren may indeed supersceed all gods of destruction, which is already implied.TheOne wrote:If this is the case, then Toei essentially lied to us to “throw us off”.Kenneth La Torre wrote:Is anyone starting to think that now that we have these spoilers, that by jiren being superior to a god of destruction, that they actually meant above that domain of power, cause holy shit. If toppo turns out to have been hidding power on the levels of the gods of destruction, and he said that anyone on his level is no match for jiren, then jiren is far stronger than i ever expected him to be. In fact, Jiren had to have been massively suppressed against episode 109 UI goku (adimit it, UI goku is yet to reach hakaishin level)
There’s nothing wrong with hiding his power. Nothing at all. But during the exhibition match, Belmod asked if he’d be able to beat Goku in the tournament, and he said I don’t know. But Jiren could take care of him.
I understand that you could argue “he didn’t know the depth of Gokus power”, but such a slap in the face like that shows us that they’ll intentionally throw out false statements like this for the sake of keeping things under wraps.
To be honest, akira should have introduced jiren after the tournament of power. Having him here is to soon in my opinion.
One Piece might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but they’ve done a good job of not just letting Luffy be Yonko level after one or two arcs. Dragon Ball is a different story.
How i predict the tournament will end:

IDK why
People wanna talk him fighting toppo is stupid yet 17 and Freeza isn't especially if toppo going at full power is around ssjb kk goku tier okay...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Quality over quantity. I never once enjoyed Gohan's screentime other than his stand against Frieza and the Cell Juniors. His little showdown (failed miserably) against Super Buu was tacky while the overall fight was dull and boring. Then again, how can two boring characters facing off against each other be appealing at all? There was nothing flashy about their battle and the hand to hand combat portion of it paled in comparison to far greater battles like SSJ Goku vs Frieza or Piccolo vs 17.Kagari wrote:Something about a major character for most of the series playing a big role is annoying? Yeah, i was hopping jiren wouldnt be the mortal either. Once he was revealed to be the mortal, i was dissapointed that they didnt dedicate an arc to him. Now that he is being hyped up to be much more powerful than anyone expected from this mortal, I'm here thinking "where the fuck are they going to go from here?"TheOne wrote:That’s why I refused to believe Jiren was the mortal they were talking about. Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Right. Vegeta's does not have even close to the same presence as he had in the Goku Black arc, or really any previous arc in Super. He's far more in the background. Which is why it makes no sense for him to get this special treatment over others who have had ongoing stories in this arc. If Vegeta were written better in this arc, and had more time to not have such a small presence, I'd be more inclined to agree with more Vegeta treatment. But he lacks that this arc.Kagari wrote:Vegeta has basically been a background character the entire arc, like they didn't know what to do with him so they kept him around because he's a strong guy.dbzfan7 wrote:Now if they focused on that bit of story, I'd care. And really hatred of a character shouldn't get in the way of stories. Doctor on this message board has made it clear he dislikes Gohan. He is far from a fan of Gohan. But he's made it clear his feelings on whether he likes a character or not should not affect the storylines that are being told. I hate Monaka and was willing to give him a chance. It's just his arc was dumb, it never had a good reason for it, and he was a watered down Mr. Satan. If they do something else with him fine, just make something out of it. I hate Ribrianne but hey bring her back if you can do something interesting with her or it's plot relevant.
I don't just want characters gone if I hate them. I don't want a story to suddenly jump ship to another story and completely waste another character because I dislike them. I like a beginning middle and end to my stories. Story lines shouldn't just suddenly be dropped and thrown away because of a persons preference on a character. That just makes the entire story suffer.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!
