Can't wait to see what 'homages' Toyo prepares for us in the tournament.

The problem with the Future Trunks Saga wasn’t Toyo playing it safe. The problem was Toyo not being a very good storyteller and his inability to write good villains.pacz360 wrote:So did the black arc in beginning in the manga version yet went downhillprince212 wrote:The way manga is doing ....is already better ( for my taste ) , sadly is hard to keep the pace with the anime , and if anime is 10 months ahead or so ... it’s hard to tell that every manga charter is gonna have 6-7 eliminations per chapter , so Toyo better draw some crazy stuff , and I hope u11 to eliminate other universes in the manga , u7 responsible of all the eliminations having Jiren around doing joga exercises while being worry about his own universe waiting a phone call to return and forget about the tournament won’t have any sensepacz360 wrote:Toyo going to need to make the manga version of the TOP feel Much crazier if people expect it to be better than the anime

I expect this arc to be better since a battle royal is easier to show in a manga form, less story for Toyo to muck, and more action which Toyo is okay at when he isn’t copying panels. I would be shock if Toyo underperforms here.

Exactly this,it wasn't him playing it safe,it was him being a not very good storyteller from pacing issue, terrible villains and too many info dumps. He could underperform at the Top since is back to back battles with 65 unique designs,as long he don't increased the pages count and cut corners he could avoid a ugly mess like this.
HeroR wrote: The problem with the Future Trunks Saga wasn’t Toyo playing it safe.
There is a story in the Top,not big as the Ft trunks still there is a story in there,if he have Jiren to get defeated by a SSGSS Goku or Vegeta in the first match or cheapened Vegeta loss against Jiren that would ruined the story.Mostly active on discord.

People think Toyotaro's not a good storyteller? Aside from the fact that his arcs have all been much tighter, funnier, and more coherent than the anime counterparts, Chapter 19 really stood out in how amazingly well the events going on in the future and the present were woven together. I'm not saying he's a genius, but he's definitely capable of great work.

Is very ugly and off.The panel composition of that chapter was a mess.He got better with the art later on as he deliver one of the best battles in DBS,Goku vs Fused Zamasu.TheUltimateNinja wrote: What's so bad about that page?

People need to separate boring/uncharismatic from badly written, it irks me people constantly putting Black in the later category because they don't like him.
Ironically people's dislike for him proves Toyotarõ success. Of course most people won't like a childish God with both superiority and inferiority complexes, who can't handle a disadvantageous position or even being mocked by the likes of Goku. He was made for us to dislike him.
Although opinions are opinions, I see people repeating a lot of the same complaints. I hope this hasn't turned into an echo chamber, I say this because I saw a decent amount of praise for the last few chapters of the Zamasu Arc while they were coming out. Yet people have been repeating that only the start of the arc was good.
By the way I advice people to re-read the arc. It's much better without one month intervals and being processed fully, without receiving information in fragments and being exposed to people ripping and over-analysing everything about it.

The villains are fine in the manga, it's just that Goku and Vegeta are better than their anime counterparts.HeroR wrote:The problem with the Future Trunks Saga wasn’t Toyo playing it safe. The problem was Toyo not being a very good storyteller and his inability to write good villains.
The fact is Toyo did write the Black arc with more depth than the anime. He explained the timeline better and Showed Black actually getting Zenkai's.

Can't really agree. The villains was by the book Toriyama, but Toyo doesn't have the talent that Toriyama does. Toriyama's villains are for the most part shallow, but they have a style and charm that makes them likable to some extent. Zamasu and Black were meant to be more complex than Toriyama's normal style as he wrote in the interview. At their core, Zamasu is no different from Shin according to Toriyama. That didn't come across in the manga where Zamasu started twisted and by the end was going to wiped anyone but himself.Miracles wrote:The villains are fine in the manga, it's just that Goku and Vegeta are better than their anime counterparts.HeroR wrote:The problem with the Future Trunks Saga wasn’t Toyo playing it safe. That isn't writing more depth. That is called an info dump. Also, the anime spent most of 60 explaining how timelines work and Whis even talks about the butterfly effect in 59. Toyo just beat us over the head with it.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I've never really been interested in the manga but as the TOP in the anime is starting to wrap up I'm curious to see how the manga handles it. I like this arc but it does have some issues one being Goku's stamina and many of the TOP characters being weak outside of a select few. Also outside of power scaling what do people think the manga does better than the anime? Just a tad bit curious is all.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Personally,I think the real problem with toyotaro is that he tries to copy toriyama too much. But,that's impossible toyotaro can not become toriyama,he can take inspirations and ideas but that's it.He should go down his own path like he is doing in top.The info dumps are less,he is doing his own thing with god battle, the villains are better. He is using new angles.I just hope he keeps it up.
Why power levels are important?

I don't see any similarity in the first. There are 5 panels on the left and one at the bottom in Toyotaro's version. Even all of the characters are standing in different positionsTheUltimateNinja wrote:Has anyone pointed these out?
