Trunks was a crucial character in the manga. If you can't realize it, it's your issue. And at least he didn't have an asspul transformation which made him god tier.FortuneSSJ wrote:Since in Universe Survival arc we're having Goku/Vegeta vs Jiren, I'm glad the anime didn't went the manga route in FT Trunks arc where FT Trunks took a back seat on his own arc and it was mainly Goku/Vegeta vs Merged Zamasu, just like it was Goku/Vegeta vs Kid Buu in Buu arc. Change is welcome and Toyotaro doesn't give me that.

Re: Super's Anime vs Super's Manga
Apparently it's a Toyotaro's issue, since he glorifies the original manga so much that he doesn't try new things. I'm not interested in seeing the same formula over and over.Zamasu55 wrote:Trunks was a crucial character in the manga. FT Trunks is nothing more than a plot device and cheerleader in the manga. Anime > Manga
If you gonna come up with an asspull, at least make it interesting. Better have a new form to fight on the frontlines than become a healer on the sidelines, on his own arc!Zamasu55 wrote:And at least he didn't have an asspul transformation which made him god tier.

Ignored my warnings
.Agreed with Toyotaro not trying new things with the story of future trunks but now i can say he is trying new things, have we ever have a main rival that is pure of heart like Goku.

As in rivals, you know Tien,Vegeta & Hit,Jiren is not a villain like him,he is just the rival.Lord Frieza wrote: Buu, he's a total loon.

Re: Super's Anime vs Super's Manga
Well that is true but lets not forget that he was Goku's first real challenge and remained a secondary antagonist right up till near the end of the first arc, all be it a helpful one. Really he just suffers from the fact he was first and as such is at the very bottom of the pile of Goku's rivals. The gr wrote:Aw dang i forgot the desert bandit. He isn't as memorable as a rival more like the guy who is been used to hyped up the new threat.Lord Frieza wrote:

Edit: Also the fact that he's very, very tame compared to literarily all the compation.
I bet Yamcha misses the days when he was the teams Vegeta.

Is this a plothole in the manga?
In Chapter 15 (if I'm not mistaken) Trunks' SSJ2 is stronger than Goku's SSJ3 which means that
Base Goku Black > SSJ2 Trunks > SSJ3 Goku
But in Chapter 17 SSJ2 Vegeta can overpower SSJ2 Goku Black, does this mean Vegeta's SSJ2 is leauges above SSJ3 Goku?
No offense to Toyotaro, the anime has waaaaay more plotholes than the manga, I'm just pointing this out.

Yes,there is another power scaling inconsistency in arc.Ice85 wrote:Is this a plothole in the manga?

Re: Super's Anime vs Super's Manga
If you want to get into semantics... kind off... but not really. It's never really elaborated on in the story itself as to why Vegeta's SSJ2 form is that strong. It's commonly handwaved by fans that Vegeta kept his rage boost, but that's never really implied anywhere up until that point.Ice85 wrote:Is this a plothole in the manga?

You could say that Vegeta's SSJ2 is simply much more powerful than before, but than you'd be question why Vegeta is shocked and taken back by how SSJ2 Future Trunks could challenge SSJ3 Goku. I mean, if he knows that SSJ2's can get this power, it shouldn't really surprise him at all for Future Trunks to be as strong as he was when he sparred against Goku the way he did.
Think of that scenario as similar to when SSJ Future Trunks powered up in Episode 57 and suddenly was able to hold his own against SSJ Rose Goku Black and Zamasu. It's A sudden increase in strength that really isn't elaborated on in-universe and only serves the purpose of making sure a certain character can stay relevant in the plot at that specific time.

Re: Super's Anime vs Super's Manga
If Gohan will be Blue tier in the manga then there is no excuse for Toyo and Toriyama to make Trunks a weakling in the manga, you couldve been becoming strong due to being part of the ritual(like Gohan).
Re: Super's Anime vs Super's Manga
I get the feeling Gohan being blue level is just a Toei thing to please the fans. Similar to Trunks.perucho1990 wrote:If Gohan will be Blue tier in the manga then there is no excuse for Toyo and Toriyama to make Trunks a weakling in the manga, you couldve been becoming strong due to being part of the ritual(like Gohan).
i suspect the only fighters to be blue level in u7 will be the ones that always were, aka Goku, Vegeta n Freeza. 17 will be perhaps a bit above ssj3 maybe? or something like that. Rest their usual buu saga strength. Gohan will proly be Ultimate level, maybe a bit stronger, Piccolo ssj2 level and so forth.

Re: Super's Anime vs Super's Manga
So far Super to me is like the original series. The manga, the pacing is much better when it comes to the story arcs while the anime has a better character/slice of life episodes.
