Not another Power Level Topic!

Not another Power Level Topic!

Post by Akira » Tue Oct 16, 2007 3:36 pm

Ah, well, it is what it is. Someone mentioned recently that some of the bios in the Daizenshuu guide books list other battle powers that were not in the main listing. Does anyone have scans of these pages that I could take a look at?

I am trying to create a proper list of Battle powers that are determinable from the manga, and I want to get it right. I omit any character whose power just doesn't have enough evidence between the Manga and the Daizenshuu to determine. I've worked on this some more lately, and was surprised to find that a few of them were determinable based on things said and other powers given that made it possible to get a solid number for characters that I didn't have numbers for previously.

Of course there will always be some that can never be known for sure, and therefore just cannot be added to the list. For what is available information wise, I'd like to have a single list that everyone can agree to and see the logic behind so when new people join the forums and start Power Level topics, we can just copy and paste the list, say that is all that is able to be determined, and be done with it.

The one I am having trouble figuring out is Freeza's Third Form. We know the battle powers of his First, Second, and the various percentages of his final form, so it is kinda driving me nuts thinking there HAS to be enough information there to get that last number accurately without having to make a guess.

First though, does anyone have that Bios information? If there is anything there I don't have I'd like to add it to the list.

I had some work on this that I did a long time ago. The primary thing was that I broke power level up into three stats:

strength
speed
endurance

I got these three stats from the diolog. Most of the time a fight was determined by one of these three stats. I later included energy manupulation as a fourth stat since kaio-ken and such can also increase your power level. for base power levels however the formula was

strength x speed x endurance x energy manipulation (if applicable)

I can try and track down some of my old work if your interested. I would be interested in seeing what you had come up with. e-mail me

Do you mean other abilities in the character's PROFILE?

No. He's talking about Battle Power, which is a more accurate translation of the Japanese term that the dub called "Power Level." This is a thread about power levels, after all, not abilities.

I have a suggestion for the characters you can't find any power level information on (particularly Dragon Ball characters). You can find the two characters that have the closest power level to that specific character (knowing either by battles or dialogue), meaning one a little stronger and one a little weaker, and say that character X is in that range, like:
1700>X<2000.

There can also be a situation where the closest characters' power levels haven't been pointed out, too, so you can just do the same thing for them, thus creating a chain of characters.

Hope I helped. :D

This old thread has links to scans of the battle power chart from the French translation of Daizenshuu 7.

You can see the numbers themselves pretty clearly, and if you know French you can read the information they give.
