VIZ GNs.

What volumes is VIZ up to in DB and DBZ? Their site has only DB and DBZ up to 14, yet 15 for both are available, if I'm not mistaken. Plus, their site lacks availability, let alone advertising, for Ultimate Muscle, Prince of Tennis, and Bleach. Are they just slow or is there a problem?

Is this Julian's area?

The graphic novel for for DB is at least 14, though I saw vol. 15 in a comic store. For DBZ it's up to 15 in graphic novel form, and farther if you count the pages of SJ.

That's something I've been meaning to ask you guys. Volume 17 of DB (the non-2 series bit) has a fair amount of the 23rd budoukai at the beginning. In English, is DB 16 going to be longer than normal and is DBZ 1 shorter than the other DBZs?

Yeah. In Japanese, DB volume 16 or 17 ended Dragon Ball and bled into DBZ.

A third of V17 was Dragonball, I think. Might have been 2 thirds.

The English vol 17 is short, but not that short, so it's probably just a third.

Well actually, DB took up just a sixth of Shueisha's 17. Two chapters out of twelve. So I imagine ten chapters in Viz's version wouldn't be that much shorter than the others. Did/will they just shove fourteen chapters into DB 16, then?

I'd image volume 16 will just be packed w/ 14 chapters, and so we'll have our "final volume" of DB

Besides, I saw a picture of the 8-16 manga boxset, and thats just what it contained ^^

Hmm. Planet Namek used to have each volume scanned in groups of 3 (parts a, b, c), and I thought "part a" ended it. Well, if you say so, it was probably half of "part a" and just my poor memory fucking me over. Again.

It's gona be a bit sad when I get the last DB book. I've been collecting them for ages, always looking forward to the new one. I know DBZ's story like the back of my hand and altough I know most of DB's, some stuff has still been new to me. It's going to be sad to see it end.

Yea...it will bring tears when the GN's stop coming out...but who knows what could come next? English Kanzenban(perfect manga)?? English Daizenshuu? Viz could surprise us.

English Daizenshuu.... Mmmmmm.....

I so want to get the GN's but I don't have the money... or a good idea as to where to buy them other than on-line.

The GN's are all $7.95. You can buy them at Borders, Barnes and Noble, Waldenbooks, or some comic shops,etc...but the best place to buy them is the Viz online store. They have the graphic novels first. All the other stores take about 1-2 months just to get the GN's in stock! I personally hate playing phone tag with stores, so your best bet is online.

Also, for those that were wondering how many chapters of DB were in the original DB #17, the Manga Reference Guide of this amazing site should clear your questions right up.

Any shop that sells comics would be a good bet. But if you can't afford to buy them online, then I doubt you can afford to buy them, er, offline, since they'd cost the same.

Where do you live, anyway?

Wow...thanks for replying to my question by repeating what I said over and over instead of answering it... :?

Er, we did. We pointed out that volume one of DBZ doesn't have the DB stuff in it, answering the second part of your question. We then theorised that this means that the missing couple of chapters would almost certainly be put in DB volume 16. We can't say for certain, not being God and all, but that's the most likely outcome.

16 I know, but volume 1 of DBZ is out already. Rather than repeat what I said, nobody answered if DBZ was shorter than Japanese DB 17.

Ok...time to set the record straight. Volume 16 and 17 are like this

Original Japanese Tankoubon
DB 16: 12 chapters long
DB 17: 12 chapters long

American Graphic Novels
DB 16: 14 chapters long
DBZ 1: 10 chapters long

for those who can't count, there was only 2 chapters moved.
