A question on the potara fusion for Kaioshin and Kibito

I was playing some Budokai: 3 and noticed that during the fusion, they take off one earing and they fuse, I was wondering if this happens in the anime/manga? Thanks in advance.

Actually, I think they do that. I remember Kaioshin telling Kibito to take off his earing, and Kaioshin did the same.

Thanks! I think it might've been easier if they used a set of earing on from one person (like Kibito take off both of his earings and use Kaioshins) or swap the earings (and not just take them off) so then Kibitoshin has both earings...

By the way, do you know what dub group that was? I'm from the UK and I'm not too sure if that was the group I'm familiar with...

Sounds like the Funimation dub if I'm correct.

It was the Funimation dub. Been so long since I watched those eps, I forgot how much I liked Kaioshin and Old Kaioshin's voices.

I still think in that scene Goku should have fused with one of them first seeing how he only had one earring on himself. Completely off topic yes but in its own way related, sort of.

But why would Goku want to fuse with either one of them in that area? His intention was to fuse with Gohan if I'm not mistaken.

Its not that he would want to have fused with one of them, more that having one earring off would have triggered a fusion with one of them.

If that's so, then he would have still fused with one of them. He had the earing on his left ear, and so did Kibito. I think maybe Mr. Toriyama simply thought it too much of a hassle to come up with what would happen and just had everything happen normally.

The old Kai didn't want to fuse with the witch, but the Potara earings still worked the same.

Probably the earrings in question have to be from the same or corresponding sets.

The set Goku was given and ended up using with Vegeta were both from Old Kaio, whereas Kaioshin and Kibito exchanged earings between their own two sets. They're not "paired" or related in any way, so no fusion resulted.
