Number of years between DBZ and GT?

Can't seem to find it.

I kinda remember it being 10 years?

The skip between Kid Buu's defeat and Z's "epilogue," when we met Pan and Uub, was 10 years.

Between that and GT was about 6 or 7 years, I believe.

The GT Perfect Files say there was about 5-6 years between the end of Z and the beginning of GT.

Supposedly, there's some dialogue in the Japanese anime that says it takes place ten years after Z, but no one seems to be able to point out exactly where this dialogue is. (I'm thinking it probably doesn't even exist, just like the rumors of "Nichiyoubi" supposedly being an insert song.)

It makes sense that GT is set 5-6 years after the events of Z, since if it was really 10 years, Goten would be at least 27-28, and well... he doesn't act like it at all.

How old is Pan anyway? And Videl?

I thought Pan was 12-14 because of her family "trait" - Goku and Chi-Chi were very small, than one year later, BOOM! - they grow a lot. That may have something to do with Toriyama's style of drawing, since in the beginning of DB, he drew "doll" type of characters, or "chibi", if you know the concept.

But if the timeskip is 5-6 years, then she's most likely 8-10. I don't remember if they said her age on the anime, I think it was 3 or 5 years old?

I just checked the manga and in the final chapter Mr. Tournament Announcer says that Pan is four years old.

Yeah, Pan would be 9 or 10 which her size perfectly matches with Toriyama's style. The only off character would be Bra. She's anywhere from 7 to 11 depending on source (Daizenshuu or Perfect Files). She's the only thing that helps support a 10 year time gap. I chalk her up to Toei just screwing up again, though.

Now not that the UK overrides Japan by any means but according to the promo advertising GT on Toonami UK, the announcer states, "10 years after Z, its time for the GT". Clearly their source indicated 10 years. If it states 5-6 years in the Perfect File book though I would say it’s pretty conclusive.

I've seen this debate going on for years, and most people say 10 because, I don't know, someone on the Internet made that number up a long time ago and everyone went with it? Despite rumors, there is no indication made anywhere in the anime itself of how much time has passed. But the Perfect Files DO give a clear answer, so 5 years is what I've always believed. Yes, Bra looks older than that....since Daizenshuu 7 gives her two different ages, I choose to go with the older one which makes her 10, and if her parents didn't let her dress like a whore I'd say she could pass for 10

Pan looks older then 10 in GT. Of course when Goku's 12 looks like a muscley five-year-old. I don't think that Toriyama really pays attention to proportions according to age, he just states the age and goes from there.

Bra and Pan look roughly to be about the same age in Z. Of course for some stupid reason, Bra gains a few years on Pan during GT.

... NO, that would be too much of a stretch. Just draw it to disproportions. I think the designer for Bra tried to make her look like a younger Bulma without the ponytail.

Ehh, neither Pan or Bra (whore outfit, schmore outfit) look older than 9 to me in GT. Guess I'm the only one.

Bra might dress like a skank, but she's still got nothing to show off.

For me, the only thing that shows that Bra is nine is her lack of boobs. Otherwise she looks a lot like Bulma in the beginning of Dragonball.

That's not the size of a nine year old!

I would say that actually she is 16 but flat-chested. Maybe?

I don't know but they messed her up in DBGT.

Maybe because she half saiyan and Saiyans age slower than human a female saiyan's breasts develop latter than human's.

I can't believe I just over thought the breasts on a under-age anime girl

Being a girl, I know from personal experience that your boobs do a major growth spurt from 16-18. But then of course I knew a girl that had a D cup at 14. Sorry, too much info...

If it's a the very beginning of Dragonball, she's 16 actually.

Anyway, without any reliable sources, it's hard to tell if it's 5 or 10 years ; Pan looks more like she is 14 : she's dating guys, and she's taller than Goku, who's 11. But Trunks doesn't look like he's 28, especially if we compare him to the Trunks who killed Cell, and who's 23 years old :

And, I don't know much about GT, but isn't Goten still at school ? It's funnyn but I never pictured him as a scholar like his brother...

We forget how short Vegita is. Bra could be tall for her age, be 9, and be that big next to Vegita. He's only like 5'2", isn't he.
