This shouldn't be rocket science, yet for some reason I am failing almost 10/10 times to execute special moves no matter what I do. I hit down, then quickly move my thumb over to the right in a circle motion and hit X, and instead of a Kamehameha Goku just keeps jumping back and firing a ki blast into the air. I tried hitting both directional buttons at the same time, spacing out when I hit them, playing around with the timing, and no matter what I do I have only been able to do it maybe once in like the 30+ tries I've done. I've no trouble doing it on analog except for the fact that analog is inaccurate and causes me to drop inputs sometimes.

What am I doing wrong?

EDIT: Figured it out, I think it's cause I must have still been holding Down on the D-Pad after I completed the half circle.

I’ve always had this problem also with fighting games that require you to roll a stick for combos and I miss button inputs pretty often. I tend to naturally start the quarter circle turn a little bit too short, however recently I’ve tried starting the turn back a little bit farther than it needs to be and it’s improved my consistency a lot.

On a side note, is there a thread here to discuss the competitive aspects of the game where people who are seeking help can get it from better players? I’m doing decently online, but there’s a few things that keep giving me trouble (Kid Buu is so annoying to play against) and I want to progress as a player.
I have switched to the directional pad because I couldn't fire special moves with the stick. Now I can use them everytime without failure, and I feel so good. I completed the Super Warriors arc without being able to fire off special moves at will and it was frustrating.
I'm still having issues constantly dropping inputs even with the d-pad. It’s mindblowing to me that every single “fighting pad” you can buy has a D-pad instead of a 4 or 8 way stick like an actual arcade stick has. I mean, who is the genius who thought the best way to do circular inputs was on a cross instead of an actual circle?

Between the constant dropped inputs and the fact that the game keeps pairing me up against people with absurd W/L ratios with skill much greater than mine, I’m getting ready to throw the disk out the window.

My copy finally came in earlier today, and man does it feel great to finally get to deep dive into this, as I had a ton of fun even just the few times I played around in the Beta.

I couldn't help but notice there's a PSN avatar pack (for $5 roughly I think?) on PSN for the game, coming with PSN avatars of SSB Goku, SSB Vegeta, Majin Buu, Piccolo, and SS Trunks. It's not marked as Avatar Pack 1 or anything, but do you think they might eventually put up other packs with different character options in it? Because I think you all know what character I'm wanting there. :P

Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

Coola roll call found in FighterZ. Guess that pretty much confirms him as a planned DLC character.

I see what someone was saying about the clone characters being boring, because...well...they are. They're just dark colored variants (with red eyes) that don't even have any voice audio (you can't just use the same character audio and put an echo filter on it or something)? They also really should have had a moment somewhere for each character to have a chance to face off against a 'better' clone version that just taunts them with stuff that would bother said character, ala the Shadow selves from the Persona games. Would've been a lot more engrossing that way.

If this is true, then oh well... One can only hope that at least he brings nice dialogues with Freeza.

So if crouch blocking blocks every single attack, why would you ever bother doing regular blocks?

Crouch blocking doesn't block overhead attacks.

Cooler..., can't say I'm excited. I really liked him when I was a kid currently I'm lukewarm. I'll wait and see if they make him interesting, there's definitely potential there.

You can get all the avatars in regular Zeni summons. Those packs just give you them quicker.

Fucking same. Canttell you how many times I try to do an ultimate and end up doing the wrong attack cause the input for the dpad is inconsistent af. And the tryhards online are infruiating to fight against. Once these lobbies get fixed, I'm gonna stick to just fighting my friends.

Which sucks cause Ill prolly never get the 530,000 BP trophy but oh well I can at least have fun with friends

Not the lobby avatars, I mean they've got a pack of avatars for your PSN profile.

Nah, no worries. It's pretty confusing when there's those avatars while also being lobby avatars for in-game stuff.

Isn't this game's storyline is the combination of the Buu and Cell sagas and "Attack of the Clones"? :D
