I know it's just a joke, but I was disappointed by 21's "Go organic" line.

A scientist would never advocate that.

I cleared the story mode. Here's my thoughts:

What I like

- It's a new story and not a rehash from the show again.
- Link System. This was a great idea, because everytime the characters talked to the player I truly felt involved in the story. A scene that stood out to me is when Freeza tries to kill Goku/Krillin, but he stops moving and then on his inner thoughts he complains to the player to let him finish the job. It gave a lot of depth to that scene.
- Character interactions. With the exception of the cutscene where Nappa/Freeza/Cell trash Yamcha (they really went overboard in that one), they are entertaining.
- Cast. It involves Heroes and Villains.
- There are different arcs and they chose the right main characters for each one.
- RPG elements.

What I didn't like

- Board games are boring. It was in Budokai 2 and it's here too.
- Lack of characters and stages. It came to the point where I was already bored, because I was fighting the sames clones on the same stages over and over.
- Too repetitive and too long. This connects to the previous point. The story mode is longer than it should be and I would take out 4 maps of each arc. It doesn't help that in Super Warrior and Enemy Warrior arcs we have a lot of cutscenes inside Bulma's Plane. So much for variety...

About the story arcs

Android 21 arc > Enemy Warrior arc > Super Warrior arc

Android 21 arc is surprisingly much better than the other two:
- The story flows out much better.
- The suspense around Android 21 urges in the beginning is really well done.
- It's less repetitive, because we aren't always going back to Bulma's Plane.
- Goku's interactions with Good Android 21 are so much fun.
- The final fight being Good Android 21 vs Evil Android 21 is fitting.
- Once again Goku talking to the player seals the deal. It's the perfect way to end.

Android 21

She's okay. I don't like how her real form looks like a female Majin, especially when she has such a unique design in her base form.
The thing I like the most is that the franchise is finally having female villains. First Towa and now Android 21.

I'm not interested in having Android 21 in the show (if we ever get a new one) though. She has nothing to offer. I rather to have Towa. She's much more unique and I'm still waiting for a new story about the Demon Realm, either an arc or a Movie.

Other complaints

- Why every time I want to save the game I'm forced to go back to the story mode title screen?! I'm just saving my progress, because I'm worried that something bad happens (the game crashes, the power goes off, etc...)

- I don't like how I've to press a button for the cutscenes keep going. I just want to sit back and see the cutscenes unfold. Waiting for the player input to keep going affects my enjoyment.

Localization

It does its job, but doesn't do it right. I don't need to be fluent in japanese to know that stuff like "Oh man", "Well, if it isn't Goku and his annoying, nose-less sidekick...", "Dearest heavenly Kami. Please don't let the enemy be too strong. Amen." etc...is a good translation of what the characters are saying. I wish they were more professional. It's already stupid when characters like Bulma/Piccolo call "Son-kun/Son" to Son Goku and they just put "Goku" in the subtitles, or when Goku calls "Old-timer" to Roshi in DBS and they translate to "Master Roshi" every single time. It's annoying and gets rid of the little details of how characters interact with each other. It would be like not using "Kakarrot" when Vegeta only addresses Goku this way...
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

FighterZ shipped 2 million copies in one week (digital downloads included) - it is considered the fastest-selling Dragon Ball video game ever. Takashi Mochizuki thanked the gamers and the fanbase for their support.

For comparison:

DBFZ outsold Marvel vs Capcom Infinite by double the amount.
DBFZ has sold as much as Street Fighter V latest LTD figure.
DBFZ has done as much in a week that Tekken 7 did in 5 months, and as much as Injustice 2 did in more than 3 months.

At this point a second DLC season pass is all but confirmed. 40 character roster. It's happening.

As happy as I am to see this game do so amazingly well, I kinda hope it doesn't hamper the Xenoverse series going forward. Xenoverse 2 seems to have done more than well enough for Xenoverse 3 to happen at some point, but if X3 gets diminishing returns due to more people switching over to FighterZ and not going back...

I also don't get why we couldn't get any animated cut-scene or intro, like we did with Xenoverse games. Pre-rendered cutscenes would have also looked awesome with this game's graphics, but we got none unfortunately. The smoke always looks awesome by the way.
The character interactions were good but mostly fan-servicey and there are some bad mistranslations, such as Piccolo telling Yamcha "I get why Bulma chose Vegeta".
With this game selling so well, I hope we will see a FighterZ 2 in the future and that Bandai Namco will give ArcSys more budget for the sequel.

Also, am I the only one who hates how buff characters look in the story mode? During gameplay the models are absolutely fine, but in the story the characters look too big. This is especially true for Saiyans and Earthlings, as Cell and Freeza for example look good.
I had the same problem with Xenoverse's models, so I wonder what's up with DB games depicting the characters so big.
And hands... man the hands are way too big in this game.
About backgrounds, they look very cool but it would be even better if they looked more like in the anime, if that is something they can do.
I thought the character models were well proportioned. Remmeber it wasnt until super where characters started looking really thin.

However some characters hands in some scenes look like they suffer from gigantism or something. Definitely agree with you there.

I don't mind the translations but I'm not picky on those. More faithful ones would be nice though.

I know with Super the characters have gotten slimmer due to Yamamuro adapting Toriyama's modern designs, although in FighterZ some of the characters look a lot bigger than they ever looked in the anime. Take Goku and Vegeta for example, their forearms and wrists are huge in the cutscenes, they look way too large and are way too big compared to Cell and Freeza in terms of muscle size. Look at this and tell me there's not a big difference in terms of muscle size: http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/ori ... 95/9f2.gif
Left one looks much better due to realistic muscles, in my opinion.

DBZ had so many different character designs and various proportions, so I don't mind at all if they are somewhat different here.
Some people complained that the SSBs are supposed to be much thinner and not buff like SSJs, but if you look at the SSJ transformations in Super, they are also really thin, so I guess if they use buff SSJs, it makes sense to use buff SSBs too.
The weirdest to me is seeing the Saiyan Saga Vegeta model with the late taller and more muscular design.

For those who played both Xenoverse and FighterZ, which one is better?

Depends on what you are looking for. I'd say FighterZ is the better game overall though. But if fighting games aren't your fortay then Xenoverse's simpler and more RPG like focus may work more for some.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

I think it could have a good influence. It might force the Xenoverse series to up their game more than they would have, and even give them ideas of what fans seem to appreciate (extreme fidelity in the way characters move, possibly more anime-like impressive graphics with reduced FPS during cutscenes, unique intros/win poses, lots of alternative colors, etc...).

I think it would be too much to ask that they get inspired by it when it comes to gameplay, since the two games rely on completely different styles, and Xenoverse has to deal with more open and wide environments due to its arena gameplay and a more numerous cast, which implies limitations as to what they can do.
But when it comes to the overall presentation (graphics, animations and carefully designed intros/outros), it's possible that Xenoverse 3 might actually come out better than it would have been without Fighterz. Fighterz could be a wake-up call for some elements of the Xenoverse series.

I haven't played the full game yet, but I played a lot of matches on the beta and researched what the game has, and I say that FighterZ is better in the gameplay department, while Xenoverse 2 is better as a package.
Cold Skin wrote: possibly more anime-like impressive graphics .
That's one thing I disagree on. Having graphics similar to this game and/or Guilty Gear Xrd will cost a lot of money and time. I rather for Dimps to stick to 3-D models (improve them though) and spend more time on everything else (mostly the gameplay and mission design).

Anyone have any goals for BP rank?

The #1 guy on the leaderboard has already reached 1 million Bp, which is titled "Living Legend". That's ridiculously high.

My original goal was to get to 530k BP. Mainly because of the trophy, but also because getting to Freeza's BP seemed too cool to ignore. Finally reached it the other day and it was awesome. Now I'm considering going for the Super Saiyan God rank. Not sure.

Is it me or sometimes the subtitle aren't exactly what they are saying in japanese?

I feel they add jokes or nicknames in place where they weren't.

If you have a higher BP what does that mean?

Btw if both players have 7 bar energy and they use the vanish button one after the other (immediately), wil that work?

For example: goku vs vegeta > vegeta vanish behind goku (1bar) before Vegeta hits Goku from behind, Goku uses vanish and before he hits Vegeta from behind Vegeta again uses vasnish etc etc till there is no bar more left.
