Finished Story Mode yesterday.
So, Android 21 was in my team before I started Story Mode. I like her gameplay. And her voice is lovely (I play with Japanese VO).
Now, after beating Story Mode, I want good version playable. Because of her personalty, another VO lines and moveset.
Each version of Android 21 is, actually, a separate character, that has differences in gameplay: different lvl3.
Good version has no Sweet Teeth super, instead she can perform Excellent Full Course from the ground too. For other version this move is air only. I found this move better, than Sweet Teeth, actually.
Evil version has all that has regular Android 21 plus a unique additional super - Angry Explosion. This super is, IMHO, interesting.

I still haven’t played this game but judging from the response, is it safe to assume that this game has officially eclipsed Budokai 3 and Tenkaichi 3 as the magnum opus of Dragon Ball video games?

If you are interested in becoming better at the game and fighting games in general I got a lot of stuff that can help you out. Came here because I remembered kazenshuu from back in the day (although I was a planet namek guy!).

If ya got any questions about mechanics or whatever else as well I can answer them to the best of my ability.

Are you going to have videos on more basic stuff?
Basic in what way? Like concept wise? I do have a video planned for tomorrow or the next day about just how to defend yourself against pressure since people seem to be really struggling with that.

Or more gameplay stuff? Like I just did a breakdown on how the Ginyu force mechanic works

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2s5rx7nPig
Yes exactly that. I see you have a few character specific videos which are nice, but I find the ones that explain concepts and strategies in general more helpful. Your video on how to counter the homing dash really helped improve my win/loss ratio online. I look forward to your new videos though whatever they may be, keep up the good work.

So couple of questions from a semi average player:

1) anyone else having issues with combo input on the PS4 version? I'm mainly having issues when trying to do anything involving half circles, and I've switched between d-pad and stick. It's rendered the combo challenges nigh impossible

2) any advice regarding blocks and defense? It seems like once you're in a combo you just have to take it, but would love any tips or tricks more advanced players have!

I finally got to the Villain story and I am so glad I don't have to have that tutorial gubbins in every other fight now. Seriously not only did I do the tutorial on its own, but they presented pretty much every lesson like 5 or more times. I'm just glad you don't have to do the tutorial every time.

I have to disagree. My ex, a scientist, is the only person I've met who buys organic things. I don't see why you think scientists want to harm the environment and its creatures.

Fighting game-wise, most definitely.
As for Dragon Ball game, that remains to be determined. We will see how long this game's life span is.
If it is as long as Xenoverse 2's, then I might be inclined to agree.

That's not what 'organic' means. 'Organic' means the food wasn't grown with pesticides. And that extends beyond just plants. For example, organic beef is meat from a cow that wasn't fed food grown with pesticides. It also has a secondary meaning of: "free from chemical injections or additives, such as antibiotics or hormones". So the cow would also not have been injected with growth hormones or given antibiotics. The growth hormones part is probably what concerns most people. The no antibiotics part is probably a bit more specific in who actually cares.

Organic food can be genetically modified. Non-GMO is a separate thing.

I'm pretty bored with this game. It was really fun in the beta since I was fighting people who were the same skill level as me, but I can now play for hours and maybe only find a handful of people on my skill level. For some reason the game thinks it's fair to pair me, with me 47% win rate, with someone who has an 88% win rate. Not even exaggerating, this happens with pretty much every match I get in. Every person's BP is usually over 100k higher than mine. When I do actually win a match, there's a 50% chance the other person will just rage quit, effectively giving me yet another loss. I can honestly say I have more fun in arcade mode than fighting other people. It's pretty sad that the matchmaking is so horrifically flawed that it makes me not want to play anymore. It's very obviously not a "newbie to fighter games" game like a lot of people claim for this reason.

That, and the fact that my skills still only work 60% of the time makes me want to play this game less and less whenever I start it up. Maybe if I had more than the PS4's shitty D-pad and could execute my skills flawlessly like I can with a Gamecube controller with Ryu in Smash I'd have a lot more fun with the game.

after seeing some of the mods it really should not be a problem for arcsystem to create different outfits and not just color swaps. Someone said that creating a different costume would be like creating another character, but it doesn't seem so.

Have you tried using the stick? Making the rolling motion you need for special moves is a lot easier in my opinion with the stick.

Also if you’re hitting a wall on beating people online try watching YouTube tutorials. Every time I come across a strategy I haven’t seen or I can’t get past I look it up and there’s usually some kind of help online on how to counter it. In the short week I’ve had this game my skills have improved exponentially just by watching tutorials made by people who are better than me.

My guess is you are not getting the full quarter circle, but try training mode with controls shown and check. If so just do them to the point that it feels like you're over doing it.
You could of course also try the analog stick, both will seem odd if you haven't been using them for fighting games but play enough and it won't.
Or the issue could be if you are trying to time things and are doing the moves to late. If that's the case just do the moves a bunch of times, the games not strict at all for timing on basic combos and supers so you don't need to try to time it perfectly. Actually you might be better off just mashing supers at the end of basic combos, If I want Kid Buu's candy beam to Super-1 I just do candy beam and during the animation just roll the quarter circle forward multiple times back and forth and then hit R1 a bunch near the end. That's the wrong way to do it (especially since forward to down isn't even the move) but it works almost every time. Downside of that though is that it can be a bad habit for more strict games or ones that have more moves, but it works in this game (at least in the basics).
The only other issue I can think of would be lag if playing online. Not much you can do there except set high connection preference and hope it works, maybe connect with Ethernet if currently on wifi. But I think this is part of the reason they made it so easy to mash out moves. I had a much much easier time getting my moves in this game online than I did in online Street Fighter 5 since the timing is more strict on basic SFV combos and rolling the dpad can get different moves.

Anybody been able to get some ring matches in? Tried playing with a friend but we just kept getting the "no rooms found" glitch which I thought was supposed to be a just sometimes thing...But we tried forever and couldn't get it to work. But I saw some other people with more than one person in the ring.

For 1) keep practising. I'm a newbie to 2d fighters have like a 42% win rate atm. I can hit most super moves 95% of the time but especially during moments of pressure I still fire a ki blast by accident. Go into training mode and just do one of the challenges that makes you use a special for like half an hour. Then it should go into muscle memory as well.

For 2) rememeber you have those air dashes in the air witj square forward and hit x when you hit the ground to get some invincibility. Other then that yeah you do. Have to cop most combos. Try and block best you can so these dont happen. I think down back block is the most used but you need to switch to stsnding blocks for. Overhead attacks. Hope that helps

What I don't like about most Z games is that the movies and TV Special characters added are always the same ones: Bardock, Cooler, Broly and Janemba

I would like to see more Garlic Jr., Dr. Wheelo, Android 13, Future Gohan and Hirudegarn

My friend and I got it to work the day it came out but haven’t been able to have a ring match since. It’s honestly mind boggling that a AAA game for a giant franchise that’s making money hand over fist hasn’t been able to fix their online issues with over a week to get it done. I’m sure the developers are working tirelessly to get it done, but it seems like it should be fixed by now.

I'm just waiting for this game to be on the Switch. The extra wait will kill me.

Played some at a friends though. I want to see more of Android 21 beyond this game.

There are 2D fighters that have characters without perfect symmetry. You would just end up with the wrong missing arm on one side. Like in Injustice 2 Hellboy's big arm changes.

I actually just went and did a couple. Worked fine except for a couple of messages. I heard it was due to the amount of people on, so maybe off hours is better.

Is there any benefit to doing all the fights on story mode maps? Theres no challenge so I was thinking of just rushing through and getting 21.

Thanks much! I've been practicing with half circle more and it really seems I need to set up and opening rather than chain it to a combo. But getting that opening has been tricky. As for guarding, I find the dashing has helped immensely

Won't anyone like to see DLC stages and story mode chapters? I know story mode chapters would take too much time, but I would up for new stages like the TOP stage.
