I know which is why I posted that so he'll hopefully stop.
Contrary to the popular opinion, I think Toppo did an amazing job so looking down on him now for going out early is a bit unfair as he single handedly destroyed Freeza which is no small achievement.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

I think it'll either be that or Vegetto. Regardless, super is going out on an extremely high note.
Animation wise most likely, but writing wise? Heck no.
Jiren getting all shocked over whatever asspull transformation Goku/Vegeta achieve to equal his strength is going to be his fault for letting them stay in, meditating in the middle of tournament and acting all mighty. There's no way the writers can find a good, logical solution out of his irrational decision.

I don't see why people are acting like this episode undercut Toppo. He was still stomping 17 and Frieza this episode until Vegeta cut in and was man-handling him pretty well until the Heroic Willpower kicked in.

Jiren undercut Toppo as well, so you know...it's not only what people think.

I kinda agree with Goku on this one, Jiren was being an ass.
Toppo, of the dozen fighters he clashed with, didn't eliminate a single one. Even after becoming a God of Destruction. That is the reason people are reacting the way they are. He is a loser.

The fanbase cares too much about numbers, Toppo didn't eliminate anyone so he "sucked".
What Toppo did was cool, who cares if he didn't get any elimations, his display of power was great and him absolutely wrecking Freeza was a highlight of the series.

Tbh, Jiren is an arrogant, cocky bastard. We've got many glimpses of this. And now him despising Toppo. I kinda feel bad for Toppo. All what he wanted was to protect his Universe at all costs.

And let's not forget that he and his final clash with Vegeta wrecked the arena beyond recognition. Half of it got blown off and a lot of the battle takes now place on disconnected platforms. Even though, the durability of the Kachi Katchin arena has not been very consistent throughout the ToP, this is still the most impressive feat so far and the last two episodes had some really great moments and awesome animation.

Jiren was being an ass but its not like Goku is one to talk about it,you know ignoring your son after making him leader.

I found it dissapointing that jiren was written as a generic villain in this episode,
How? Because he called Toppo pathetic for casting aside his beliefs to gain power? Because he congratulates Vegeta on beating Toppo without throwing that away?
When Super apparently shoves Goku down our throats:
Spoiler:
HeroR wrote:The characters in Super can work with Goku and they're treated like equals to him. Goku just being in the room doesn't take away from the character. In Z, the characters were so depended on Goku that they couldn't go an episode without mentioning him in some way even by hoping he will arrived, get better, training to get stronger, our last hope, being like him, ect. Goku was wanked to hell in Z, even when he wasn't in the room and everyone else was secondary to him. In fact, this was a major issue Goku had, which is why he didn't want to do anything in the Buu Saga.

And it's not like Jiren has said a kind word to Toppo at any point in this entire tournament. Most of their interaction was Jiren waving him off or telling him to move out of the way. The closest he came was saying Toppo and Dyspo could win the tournament without him and even that comes off as back-handed because he's saying it's not worth his time.
I somehow doubt it's accidental that they chose to juxtapose GoD Toppo against the moment where Vegeta threw everything away for the sake of power and accomplished nothing with it. It wasn't exactly subtle.
Jiren shows some kind of appreciation for pride and righteousness. He talked down to Vegeta in 122 for fighting arrogantly and selfishly but he's shown more respect since it's become clear that Vegeta isn't being driven by his ego.

This fanbase cares way too much about cool things.Afterall, broly is the most popular movie villain.
Why power levels are important?
Spoiler:
Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.

But, being a cocky arrogant bastard is the trade mark of every one in u11, so what's the problem with jiren copying the format he's been issued. Every universe in the anime's arc up until now has been smug and copied the exact same formula in character development( or regression depending on how you view it) until now that being, talk yourself up and get your ass beat.
Some of the complains in the episode thread was funny. I agree that the first half of the episode wasnt that special but the 2nd part was entertaining, the amount of people getting angry because Vegeta got a powerup yet they are fine with Goku getting asspulls....that makes no sense cue people wanting UI again to save the finale.
Tbh, The Internet Community will continue to get Ls because the casuals fans enjoyed the episode.

As long as the casuals enjoy the so called lazy writing then Toei wont bother giving "what the fans really want".
Someone else already pointed out in another thread, as long as the casuals(japanese fans) enjoy current DBS then everything will be fine. If you dont like current DB then go watch something else now that 2018 will have a lot of mainstream animes.

Might want to check govetasAV and ken xyros twitter to see how much Japanese fans “love” the dbs super episodes. Lets just say ratings have been pretty low in Japan.
Episode is extremely flawed, and there’s a reason a lot of fans don’t like it.
I know the episode wasnt perfect, 17 vs Toppo was boring, and for some reason they refuse to let 17 get any good punishment, when there was no issue with Trunks getting rekt by Black and Zamasu...
Most fans that got upset at Vegeta performance are Goku fans and the Anti Vegeta fans, the point of Vegeta asspulls was to show his determination in bringing back U6 no matter what, and helps that U6 are a likeable bunch, I dont mind Vegeta reaching Hakaishin level because I want U6 to get revived no matter what.
