Will you watch the next Dragonball series if the quality doesn't improve from Super?
Dragonball will likely come back in 2019 with a new series. Will you watch or be interested in it if the quality is no different than Super? Meaning same animation problems (which I imagine there still will be either way, this is Toei after all), writing inconsistencies, and poorly developed antagonists and characters being shafted/wasted?

If you're registered to Kanzenshuu and active here, chances are you are going to give any future Dragon Ball series a watch, regardless of what you say. =P
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. I could shift it to the status of all the other seasonal anime I watch where I just watch it on my own time instead of FujiTV's. The ToP's sheer length had been pushing me in that direction. But if I'm interested in the story I'll continue to watch it same day unless something in real life conflicts with it.
As long as it still stars the same cast of characters, even if there's voice replacements, I'd probably still watch it.

It's Dragon Ball, so I'll watch it.

That depends on when the Series is set. If it's post EoZ, then I'd have to think about it.
As long as the cast is the same, I'll watch it, if it's a new generation, then likely not.

I called it that Gogeta, Bardock, and something Broly related would be in the movie before it was even announced that it was a Broly movie.

Short answer: no
I can accept animation DBS had earlier (beside Golden Frieza saga) and SOME inconsistencies (not SSJ Blue trading blows with Gohan)
But i can't accept such big combo of garbage story, garbage villains, huge amount of ripoffs and fanservice and lazy designs of the most important characters in sagas (except Hit).
I would obviously have to give it a chance and watch few episodes, so i can tell if it's bad or not.

I'm not sure.
It'll largely depend on if I have the time to commit to a new one. But more than likely, I'll at least watch a little bit of it.

If your answer is 'no' then what are you even doing here?
Or is people's time so precious they can't sacrifice ~20min a week?
Lastly, Super's quality has been bearable at worst since Universe 6 tournament, though improvements in some areas are always welcome.

I think it's more that they might not want to watch 20 minutes a week of something that isn't what they want to see in DB.Greator wrote:If your answer is 'no' then what are you even doing here?

And I mean... people can be here for older DB things too. It's not like discussions about those will cease.

Re: Will you watch the next Dragonball series if the quality doesn't improve from Super?
Right now i've been accumulating episodes since 120, to watch later, because i think the ToP has had a rather anti-climatic atmosphere at this point in the anime, summarizing all the notions that make us call DBS the Goku and Vegeta's show, with some fanservice and forced favouritism (tom me and many). They should use all the anime tropes that made DBZ with it's movies, ovas, and even fillers so special, with Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo, Future Trunks, Freeza, Coola, Cell, Brolly, etc... well, all the infinity of characters we know. DBS has only Goku Black as a villain, but in the franchise as a whole, he still pales in comparison to other characters from DBZ. And please, if you, producers, want to make any future Dragon Ball series... then make something with a more serious tone, but still humorous and funny, like DBZ. If you keep the Goku Black arc separate from DBS, then DBS has no feeling of crisis, danger, or emotion. And this is, what, 7 episodes of "fighting for survival", out of 20 episodes of an arc, out of 131 episodes of Super.

Yes, but you can't really know whether you want those things or not.. unless you watch it.GamerSkull wrote:I think it's more that they might not want to watch 20 minutes a week of something that isn't what they want to see in DB.Greator wrote:If your answer is 'no' then what are you even doing here?

I knew beforehand GT was going to be bad series, but I still felt that I had to watch it. I didn't like it at all but I still didn't regret watching it either, since I could never have been sure unless I spend my time watching it.
I think that's rather simple.

I think most people here will give the first few episodes are and if it does not meet their expectations, they'll wait to see the reception of later arcs before deciding whether or not to return.Greator wrote:Yes, but you can't really know whether you want those thinga or not.. unless you watch it.GamerSkull wrote:I think it's more that they might not want to watch 20 minutes a week of something that isn't what they want to see in DB.Greator wrote:If your answer is 'no' then what are you even doing here?

Re: Will you watch the next Dragonball series if the quality doesn't improve from Super?
The 1st thing a New DB Series would have to do for me Personally to likely have me watch it is if Brianne & U2 will be involved, that is my 1st concern overall, otherwise my interest might not be their.
But if that is answered in a positive way, would I still watch the show if it's quality still has faults?!
Well Animation wise I really don't care, I never hook animation as make or break for me, if it is bad I really don't care much. So Animation wise it will not matter.
Story cohesiveness and character representation, that will be determined on WHAT they do right or wrong. It would take allot for me to drop it cause any story project has questionable quality all the time to them, so I give benifit of the doubt and try to hope the stories cohesiveness works out in the end. It would have to be bad and I mean bad for me to drop it.
So besides any really bad missteps in character or story, I would stick with the show so long as it has characters I care about and it telling their story respectfully IMO.

If it's as good as Super them it will be about as good as Z and better than both the original series and GT so of course I'd watch it.

You keep parroting this and unfortunately it's not true. Anyone who has taken an intro writing class can see just how bad the decline has been. How can you compare an obviously broken production that is plagued by a horrific schedule, inconsistent writing, and what looks like a lack of any coordination between the original author of the manga and Toei to a relatively much healthier production in Z? It's absurd and so is your comment.
Re: Will you watch the next Dragonball series if the quality doesn't improve from Super?
You do realize that Z is an anime critic favorite whipping boy right specifically the Buu and Cell sagas? Especially in the west, where z is shown as a kids anime.supersaiyanZero wrote:Bullza wrote:If it's as good as Super them it will be about as good as Z and better than both the original series and GT so of course I'd watch it.

Like most of super's problems are just z's problems magnified especially the anime oh hell the especially the anime or can you justify Yamcha beating Olibu who tied with pikkon who beat Cell and Freeza with ease.
Super is arguably dumber than z, but Z was still pretty dumb when you really think about it.
