Wha...? After, what, 5 years of it being 'in the works' it being announced is out of the blue? We've known for ages that they would make one. The only question was when.

That's the point. We heard about it 5years ago, with only a fake synopsis and a fake cast, and since then, nothing.

And now, all of a sudden, we have the official confirmation that this movie is going to be made only, well, two weeks before the beginning of the shooting.

And not even that, but we don't have any teaser, and not even the whole cast. If you ask me, it looks a lot like the first Fantastic Four movie, which has been made in a hurry and very discreetly only not to waste the fees paid by Roger Corman.

Just a random thought, but I'm surprised they didn't cast Jason Statham as Piccolo. He could really project the badass 'tude that Piccolo's so good at.

I once was foolish. I thought that the idea of a live action movie had potential. I was wrong.
I expected someone looking like Goku, and trust me, there are lots of actors that look more like him than Justin Chatwin, and to add, they can act also.

You know, something tells me that there's going to be a heck of a lot of CGI and Prostetics used in production for this film. I hope the music score will be composed by someone other then Bruce Falconer(sp?).

I highly doubt Faulconer will be involved, though I wouldn't be surprised if he at least tried to do some begging for it.

Seriously, how do you know Chatwin can't pull off Goku? Give me a wig (Goku ain't got brown-red hair), put me through training (Which Chatwin's getting), and I could probably act a good Goku, too. He's not that hard or complicated a character.

Agreed! I really don't believe it could be so horrible a choice if Chatwin actually found out about who he was portraying and took the role. Plus make up, costumes, and CGI have come A LOOONG way... Sure there will be things we won't be happy about, but I don't think it'll be so bad.

Oh God, what a horrible casting job. That moron from War of the Worlds who I wanted to punch in the balls with every passing moment until he "died" halfway through, and then it turned out he survived in the end is Goku? GOKU?!

I have to wonder if this will have a GINO effect? Embarass Toei & Toriyama enough that they'll bring back the real Dragon Ball, like GINO embarassed Toho into bringing the real Godzilla back.

Oh sweet baby Jesus, Just Chatwin was just PLAYING A CHARACTER! Granted, it's not the most dynamic/charismatic/lovable character, but a character none the less. The things some people type makes me really question their intelligence. Or at least their knowledge about what acting is.

You may not like how this movie turns out, but please hope for the best.

Perhaps a little, yes. But despite remaining 'cautiously optimistic' about it, I'm for the most part reserving my judgment until we have something a little more substantial than just two names and a tentative date.

What's wrong with being optimistic that a movie, based on something you like, will be entertaining? No one's saying "You guy are all dead wrong, the movie will be the greatest most awesomest thing ever!" We're just saying wait and see, it has potential. The difference is we're neutral while the others are negative.

Though, to be honest, I can't see this move not being awesome. It'll either be Mortal Kombat (the first one) awesome. Or it'll be The Magic Begins awesome. Either way, though, it'll be entertaining as hell and we still win.

And who knows, maybe this will give Toei a kick in the pants to do something for the 25th anniversary that's coming up in a few more years.

I want Toei to be kicked into gear for that 25th anniversary SO badly.

I mean, I love the Dragon Boxes, and the singles, and the videogames, BUT what would truly make my year would be if they were to release a new movie/tv special.

Even if its just a rehash with fancier animation like they did for the DB 10th Anniversary Movie.

The point is that Goku himself is a character from a Japanese franchise, and the character Goku is based on is a historic icon from Chinese mythology...

One might assume he'd be... at least, SOME kind of Asian... The damn NAME Son Goku doesn't even fit a white guy. They're going to have to change it to something like... 'Sunny Gordon'.
