Idea for a DBZ game.

Post by Tamagon » Sat Nov 17, 2007 4:49 am

Super Dragon Ball Z, great game. Budokai Tenkaichi 3, great idea, bad execution. So here's my idea for a DBZ.

Keep the style of SDBZ, but add in elements from the Sparking! Series.

Would this be a good idea?

Honestly it would be a cool Idea if game play is improved. (I hated Super DragonBall Z)

Honestly though I think we have had too many Dragonball Z fighting games in the last few years. Instead of another DBZ fighting game I would rather have one of the following :

a) Legacy of Goku type Rpg but 3d.

b) Star wars KOTOR type rpg but DBZ

c) Oblivion type Rpg but DBZ

d) A new version of Sagas that didn't suck. Maybe even do one for each saga BUT start with Dragon Ball and work up to GT. Throw in movie villains as bosses and enjoy.

e) If it has to be a fighting game the how about Smash brothers style

No, the Budokai series still let's you move the plane.

I'm talking Street Fighter, but with the B1/B2 customization style of Sparking.

We already have *three*. They're called Jump Super Stars, Jump Ultimate Stars, and Battle Stadium D.O.N.

Just DB/Z/GT people (Well Neko Majin people could be cool too), and realsed here in the UK.

I'm not sure if a DBZ Super Smash Bros. type game would work. It seems like they would turn it into a 2D Sparking! :?

See this is the type of thing I'm pushing for (more of the oblivion type rpg), Sorry for spelling mistakes and any errors but this was for fun and I used paint as I don't have photoshop.

Also thank you to this site for the pictures that I used to do this. And sorry for size but it's so you can read writing

Hot damn, create a character who's immediately strong enough to battle Majin Buu? Even better, a Human strong enough to fight Buu!

Also, LOL at "original story".

No not straight away , It's an rpg so you you would need to level up with training.

I put "original story by Arkia Toriyama" so you know they get him to write it so it's not another GT , Sure still not cannon as it has Brolly and other movie villains

Let's be honest we have played the actual story to death so something new like this I think would be cool. Sorry if you thought it was crap.

That looks pretty good. Props, man...props.

EDIT: I don't like that "Only for 360", though we're the love for Wii people? And PS3 people?

Meh. I think once I'm done with my project for this semester, I'll get off my ass and install j3d and make that DBZ RPG I've been working on for nearly two years now. ... Ok, by then DBO will be out, but still...!

Actually, I should make some content for GU and get it to work... um... and put in all the Z characters early to see if it's worth showing.

DBZ has kinda exhausted fighting games, unless something really creative shows up. And... somehow I think some of us could come up with such a thing, but it should just die for a while...
... Yeah, I think if Sagas hadn't been a rush piece of crap, it would have had more potential.

Actually... I think I recently typed into an I'm conversation a stage listing for a DBZ game that is sorta Streets of Rage style, but not completely (Without using Saibamen as the generic enemies for everything... -.-). Not very original, but I tried to resolve some things that need more challenges than are in the series (and failed miserably. ^^).

It came down to 360 because Wii I would need to post pictures of people using the Wii-mote and I hadn't thought what the Wii controls would be. PS3 I would use but not to offend anyone I hate ps3. So it left only 360

The 'original story' remark was that the "all the old villains escape from hell!" story has happened twice.

And training, yes. So, instead of Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta taking down all the old enemies, it's better to rely on a Saiyan-from-nowhere, a Namekian (lol), or a Human (oh come on now, a Human? that's just silly) to train from level 1 to level "I can beat Buu's ass!", doing in a few hours what took the Z Warriors thirty years.

That is true , as well as things like Buu been Uub now , I was just going for a new game completely no rehashes or remakes.

The training could be done with missions ect.... and before you face Buu or someone you could have what Gohan had done to him before Buu fight with the "unlock potential" thing.

Sure it's a cop-out but you have to admit it would be fun.

Ditto.

I doubt a DBZ game would be on 360 though due to less popularity in Japan.

Do you not know who I am? I'm the Rocketman, bitch! I hate Gohan's "unlock potential" shit and any game that requires it.

If you have to use the "everyone escapes from Hell" (despite that that just happened four years before the setting of your game), why not just use the post-GT characters? Vegeta, Gohan, Goten+Trunks and Uub are still around, and Vegeta (maybe) can't go SSJ4 at will, so you don't have one overpowered character. Plus, you have differentiated characters without the bullshit of the Earth's heroes defaulting to some low-level nobody.
