Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Well Kami strike me down, you look away from board for a day and look what happens.
Well I have to say its been a long time coming but after years of AF, Fan characters and just about every hair coloured working its way into the show, Goku's finally got a true white/silver haired transformation. Long road to that one, even longer then Blue.
In hind sight the colour should not be a shocker, all the god form's (bar Rose) hair and eye colour have been identical and while UI is not a Saiyan form per say it dose follow the trend. I do like the idea of Omen and Mastered versions because its a nice way to build up the form without giving everything away. That still begs the question as to why this is a transformation at all (much like Hakaishin Toppo) when its meant to be a martial art style not a transformation, at least based on all the build up before Goku started using it.
Theres no getting round the fact that this form is really a re coloured SSG with some slightly different hair buuuut God has been my faviort form since it showed up that's not going to cost it to many marks for me. Infact I like it a lot, just as much as I did Omen.
Best part about it? In theory this is something anyone can learn with the right training, teacher and time. Thus allowing fan character to have an in universe way to finally keep up with the saiyans. Enjoy.

Only Toriyama's sketch looks like a recolor of Super Saiyan God. In the anime, there is differences like Goku's hair being raised and Goku not getting skinny.Lord Frieza wrote:Well Kami strike me down, you look away from board for a day and look what happens.

And the same thing was said about god ki since not only could get it, yet only Saiyans got any god forms.

Not really something anyone can learn. Only angels can teach it, and no god of destruction is even close to perfecting it. Goku being the main character is an outlier, and can’t be used as proof anyone can do it.Lord Frieza wrote:Well Kami strike me down, you look away from board for a day and look what happens.

Kinda shocked by the overwhelming negativity here. I think this looks totally fine. Not the greatest ever, but fairly solid.
I also think SSJ4 and SSG are BUTT UGLY, so I guess I should be used to being in the vast minority when it comes to opinions on forms.

Actually thats not quite true, as its stand no other race can just get god ki. The only way ever shown to us was becoming a God of Destuction, being born a god or having a god switch mind/souls with them. Kami did not possess god ki (from what I recall) so as it stands Saiyan are the only known race who can obtain god ki without Godly intervention.HeroR wrote:

I did notice the hair but your right its not skinny.
.....this is true, shame. Maybe that also explains why King Kai never taught anyone else the ol KK.Kenneth La Torre wrote:

That’s what happens when you have cool concepts, and gets wasted on only one character. It is indeed a shameLord Frieza wrote:Actually thats not quite true, as its stand no other race can just get god ki. I remember reading an interesting theory on here how DBS might end with Goku wishing he never met Beerus or wishing Beerus never had a dream about the SSJ God. I was looking for the original post that went into more detail. Does anyone remember who came up with this theory?

Personally, I just really liked the idea of Goku's hair not changing any color and him not changing his appearance just like his strongest opponents (Beerus, Hit, Jiren, etc).Artorias wrote:Kinda shocked by the overwhelming negativity here. This is the same situation I was in with Goku Black. I liked his design in his normal state so much that I foolishly ruled out him transforming because I didn't want his design to change.
We'll bitch about it now, and then we'll all get over it. DB is truly a transformation-driven series.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Why are people just now realizing this? It's been extremely OBVIOUS from the very beginning that Toriyama doesn't give two shits about Dragon Ball anymore. He's clearly being dragged along for the sake of appealing to the masses, nothing more. The passion has been gone literally since a lot of people in this forum have been alive. I don't know why people are just now seeing this.MisteryOne wrote:Well, I understand why the anime version is so shitty now. Toriyama just doesn't really care about DB or what happens with it. He only really cared when writing BoG.

I think Yamamuro's version of UI looks fine, though I prefer Omen, but Toriyama's UI is hilarious.Artorias wrote:Kinda shocked by the overwhelming negativity here. I think this looks totally fine. Not the greatest ever, but fairly solid.

I genuinely believe that most people will get over it once they see it in action. Will it look as good as the original UI? Probably not, but I believe it'll still look good in the actual show.TheShadowEmperor8055 wrote:Personally, I just really liked the idea of Goku's hair not changing any color and him not changing his appearance just like his strongest opponents (Beerus, Hit, Jiren, etc).Artorias wrote:Kinda shocked by the overwhelming negativity here. Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Coming back to this
Like I said, Yamamuro's UI design was 100% him, not Toriyama. Hell, Toriyama barely even designed UI, Yamamuro is to thank for it actually having a unique hair style. With Toriyama's UI design being a slight edit of his existing God design There is no way you can say Omen was for sure his idea, and even if it was he probably just said "Base form but with silver eyes" or something like that and didn't draw anything.HeroR wrote:Yamamuro's sketch for UI Goku looks like what he did for Trunks, Black, and Zamasu for the Future Trunks Saga. Especially since we got a turn table, compared to Vegeta's new Super Saiyan form which we only got one picture for. The same with Jiren.ArchedThunder wrote:Where was it said that Omen was designed by Toriyama?HeroR wrote:
UI Omen isn't a Toei design. It was design by Toriyama. Vegeta new form was probably created by Toei since it came out of nowhere like Super Saiyan Rage. With UI Omen, we got promotions about it back in June.
That and Toei's exclusive stuff are not promoted months ahead of time: Blue Kaioken, Super Saiyan Rage, Vegeta's new form.

By this point, it's a staple of Super.sintzu wrote:This.Totamo wrote:and then we will bitch for a month and get over it.precita wrote:This is just so awful. When Dragonball comes back Goku will probably get a rainbow hair transformation in the next series.![]()
Remember how everyone (including myself) was crying about Black's pink hair only to love it once they saw it animated ? unless the episode this shows up in is ep5 quality, chances are it'll look great.
The Super Process:
Idea/design is spoiled through leaks and scans
Loud reception of how lame and fanficy said idea/design sounds
Episode releases
Said Idea/Design becomes an instant highlight of the show
The merchandising department once again makes the fandom it's bitch.
When Super apparently shoves Goku down our throats:

The only thing I don't like is the English name, Ultra Instinct sounds so tacky.
