Those screens look really good...until you enlarge them.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Yet ironically, the FUNi DVD offers superior detail in the animation than the Blu-Ray, due to Vp&T's remastering process. Don't be too mesmerized by the uber brightness. Although, I suppose the Blu-Ray release does contain the equivalent amount of frames as the Dragonbox release, since some may nit-pick that FUNi's digi-beta masters for the original DVDs contain a minuscule slightly less amount. Then there's also if the Blu-Ray's is a closer color scheme to the Dragonbox, rather it is or not, not everything balances out. It's weird how many variables there are when it comes to releasing a DBZ movie.ViolentSaiyan wrote:The blue-ray screens looks decent but the US dvd broly and vegeta screenshots looks crappy.

If comparison shots aren't up by the time I get home, I'll post them. Although I am talking about at night-time.BrollysKin wrote:Can we get a comparison/side by side of the Dragon box screens as well? Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
DB DBox color corrections & DBox color corrections.

Yeah, I shot some but noticed they weren't the exact frames, so I can post them if people are interested. I was just going to go back when I had time to retake them.ect5150 wrote:If comparison shots aren't up by the time I get home, I'll post them. Wow, I actually thought that the FUNi-shots looked BETTER than the Dragonboxes. Though, I can only assume that there is at least one scene in there with disappearing lines, right?EricM wrote:Here are some taken by someone elseBrollysKin wrote:Did anyone get any Dragon box screens?

I didn't notice any disappearing lines. Also, keep in mind that the one advantage FUNimation has is that their footage is natively 1080p whereas the DragonBoxes are standard definition (480i/p). If you blow anything up by a factor of 2.25, no matter what the algorithm is, it's gonna look a little blurryVegard Aune wrote:Wow, I actually thought that the FUNi-shots looked BETTER than the Dragonboxes. Still, this does prove that FUNimation is still altering colors/contrast/etc, and that detail is being removed thanks to the DVNR performed on the footage.

Call me crazy, but in all of the screen shots posted, I have yet to see any evidence of loss of detail. Absolutely none. Maybe the claims "Mr. Bad Conversion Guy" made were true, the Season Sets lack of detail were the result of a bad down conversion.MajinVejitaXV wrote:Vegard Aune wrote:and that detail is being removed thanks to the DVNR performed on the footage.
Yeah, I'm beginning to suspect the same. Still doesn't excuse the cropping though.Mayuri Furiza Kurotsuchi wrote:Call me crazy, but in all of the screen shots posted, I have yet to see any evidence of loss of detail. Absolutely none. That doesn't make any sense, seeing as down-conversion usually results in sharper images. It'd be hard to screw that one up, even for FUNi.Mayuri Furiza Kurotsuchi wrote:Call me crazy, but in all of the screen shots posted, I have yet to see any evidence of loss of detail. I can see them clear as day on the Vegeta pic in the OP.MajinVejitaXV wrote:I didn't notice any disappearing lines.
I agree, though why is it then that these images look so clear and vibrant? Also, keep in mind that the one advantage FUNimation has is that their footage is natively 1080p whereas the DragonBoxes are standard definition (480i/p).
