Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Btw, I LOVE the fact that episode 131 isn't ending with a time skip to the end of Z.
1. The ending of the tournament of power is still a few years away until the end of Z. I always thought it was dumb to do a time skip to a time skip. Much more story to fit in there
2. I never liked the idea of things having to end with the end of Z. That just felt like an artificial stranglehold on creativity
I love and adore that the movie is going to be about the events after the tournament of power and is going to deal with all the aftermath of the tournament in a fleshed out way. So many possibilities now
Thank you Toriyama/Toei
Hmmm. I'm going to go out on left field, and say that the opponent of the movie is the evil doer of universe 11
It continues right after the events of TOP
It's someone who they tease that we know about but wouldn't expect
With episode 131 being titled "Until the day we meet again Goku" It could be Jiren saying that to Goku
The movie continues right after that, and we get our big Goku and Jiren team up against the evil doer. Mayve the evil doer comes to earth or planet sadala and that ties into the origin story of the sayians
When Super returns the next 2 major arcs could be based off the movie. The movie could be seating up the 2 next arcs of Super's return....Evil doer who killed Jiren family/planet sadala arc
OR maybe it's what others have said
The movie finally goes into the Goku vs Beerus REmatch and that ties into everything else
Very awesome news today. I can't wait. So happy about Super continuing and really excited for the future of Dragon Ball and our hero Son Goku !
The movie better have MUI Goku !

^remember that response?ZenkaiBoosts wrote:First off, when you say generic villians. I agree that Black/Zamusa was a generic villian. If you watch other media, the bad guy who hates humans/mortals has been done millions of other times before. And that's not Inherently a bad thing, but the future trunks arc didn't do it better then others. In fact the future trunks arc was basically a rehash of another Dragon Ball arc. I.e future trunks time travel/villian from Trunks future timeline etc.perucho1990 wrote:Toriyama should just character to character designs like in GT, let someone else do the outlines.
Come on, imagine how great this arc couldve been if someone like Kubo or Kishimoto were doing it instead, better character development, better antagonists that arent copy and pasty generic villain number 34023423432.
The ToP has exposed how mediocre DBS has been, now it will be forgotten with the returns of Hero Academia, Tokyo Ghoul, Captain Tsubasa, etc.
But look at the tournament of power arc - where the major antagonist to Goku is a good guy. Thats a whole new twist on the concept of "generic villian"
You've never seen Dragon Ball do a major antagonist who was a good guy from the start, like the tournament of power arc
Honestly, are you a fan of Dragon Ball? You talk like if you are happy to see it fail. Like you can't wait for it to end and be forgotten. Why?
I will never understand this "attitude" from so called fans. Watching it weekly, and posting on forums just to thrash it? Why watch something you hate? No one is forcing you to watch.
And I completely understandnd being critical, but at this point, there is cynicism. Being critical means being able to note both weaknesses AND strengths. There's a huge difference
You are sorely mistaken if you think Super is going to be forgotten.
The tournament of power arc has had more people talking about Dragon Ball then ever. Super is absolutely a juggernaut right now, and only continues to grow more and more
Look at ratings. revenue. all the hype videos. all the talk etc.
Look at how many people were sad when it was announced that Super was "ending." You think they will just forget Super?
Mastered UI Goku has people feeling like the people who watched Goku go SS for the first time
All the popular videos of Mastered UI Goku on youtube have literally over a combined 20 million views. That's pop culture status. Mastered UI Goku (appearing from the tournament of power arc) is now pop culture.
Mastered UI Goku has more people going crazy over Dragon Ball then ever
It was the Ressurection F and Future Trunks arc that were mediocre (both had their good, but over all didn't hit those high notes like the TOP arc)
The tournament of power arc is THE definining and most significant arc of Super.
Mastered UI Goku
Jiren
Kefla
The GP and zenos
All the great music
Etc
Goku vs Jiren has been like our modern day classic version of Goku vs Frieza on Namek
The tournament of power arc feels like I'm watching classic DBZ all over again for the first time.
Especially if they end it right (Goku winning etc) than they will be "ending" Super on the highest note possible...And all that hype and anticipation is only going to continue to grow until the movie comes out
With the tournament of power arc being the best arc in Super by country miles - when it's ends, they will be able to carry all that momentum into its return, build off everything and make the return of Super even better (will be able to have better pre-production and better scheduling this time)
If it were announced that Super were coming back early next year, how big do you think that news would be? You dont think people would lose their minds over that announcement?
Dragon Ball isn't going any where. The hype and love for Super is currently the greatest it's ever been due to Mastered UI Goku and the tournament of power arc etc
People are hyped as hell to see the finale of MUI Goku vs Jiren right now
With the awesome news today that Super is coming back. It's funny to see how convinced some were that not only would Super be ending, but that it would be forgotten
So much for being forgotten about: )
Just reminded me of that response.
It was easy to see that Super would be coming back.
Super has been one of the highest grossing animes in history.
Super generated godly amounts of revenue that blew away expectations/forecasts.
Super was always coming back: )
And Toriyama himself said that he wasn't even close to creatively being done, that he still had way more stories to tell
MUI Goku was only the beginning: )

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Because anything that Super does polarizes people to no end, simple as that. Since this show was often infested with poor writing, even in these past recent episodes, I haven't cared about good writing for a while, and I just shut down my brain and enjoy the ride, despite its bumps and turbulence.ZenkaiBoosts wrote:So, people now more care about "hahaha, triggered, hilarious" than actual good satisfying endings/good writing? That makes me sad. First of all, if that ending happened, how do you even know it would trigger people? Why do you think they would be triggered over that ending? Personally, I think it would be just as hilarious if this didn't happen, and that in turn "triggered" those people, lol. How about that?Dbzfan94 wrote:I wouldn’t like seeing Goten being erased but otherwise I totally agree. It would be absolutely hilarious.Torturephile wrote: Call me evil, but I think that would be hilarious. Just watching the astronomical levels of rage from fans that would surface as a result of U7 losing, Goten evaporating, Beerus crying while Whis flips him off, GT theme song playing as it all happens, etc. That would make my year.Let's just enjoy Super
!
Just two more episodes left, boys. I really hope the ending spoilers were just red herrings to mislead. Imagine if they were - and Goku does defeat Jiren? That would be the greatest happiest surprise ever! I wouldn't put it past Toriyama/Toei to troll in reverse like this, lol. Toriyama/Toei are always a step ahead of everyone else. It was all planned. They reveal misleading spoilers. Every one is up in arms and complaining... while Toriyama/Toei are just sitting there, "Oh, you think Goku is going to lose now. How cute. Just sit back and wait for what we have in store for you... Goku's victory will now come as even more as a surprise!" That because of the disappointment of the ending spoilers, everyone bursts into joy when Goku actually wins. Well played, Toriyama/ToeiWell played, indeed you glorious trolls.
Also, try formatting your posts like how I just did to yours. It looks and reads far better.

We kind of know the answer thanks to promos. Beerus is either as strong, or weaker.Yedis wrote:If the opponent is Beerus than we will know that he is as strong as or stronger than UI Goku and SSE Vegeta, Antagonists don't go down easy no how much power the main cast gets
Anyway, a more apropiate thread is te “strength discussion”. That where we debate power scaling

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I really dont see Beerus being the main antagonist of the movie.
The tournament of power has shown how U7 humanized Beerus.
Beerus got a lot of character development too. Beerus seems to care about U7 and Goku now
I don't see how they could shoehorn Beerus into being the main antagonist now.
I think that at some point we will get our Goku vs Beerus Rematch. How glorious would it be to see MUI Goku vs Beerus?
BUT I think the MAIN antagonist will be an enemy we don't know about - who's related to an enemy we do know about, or someone who has been teased (like the evil doer of U11)
I think the theory of it being someone in Frieza's family actually makes sense and would be kind of cool. Would serve as a great way to give us more backstory on Frieza without Frieza being the main vllian AGAIN
Part of what I love about Dragon Ball is how "mysterious" the show seems to be, and all the fun speculations that comes with that

Here's one, do you think we will see MUI Goku again in the movie? I think that has to be a sure bet. Will be awesome. Thoughts?

I don't see all the universes being wished back, but I do see Goku and Vegeta coming to a deal and deciding to wish back both U6 and U11. U6 for Vegeta and U11 for Goku

I think that this time the movie will set up the new arc or arcs, and that when Super returns, it wont be a retelling, but Super will be a natural continuation of it. Like building off it and running with it. Fleshing it out etc
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I think a pretty high chance, actually. I don't know the politics of why they retold the previous 2 movies in the first place but one of the more more likely reasons is because not every fan is able to watch said movies so Toei doesn't wanna leave everyone behind and clueless.TheShadowEmperor8055 wrote:If Super came back (won't reveal if I believe it will or not), what are the chances it just retells this upcoming movie in an arc of episodes?

Oh,wow.A movie revolving around the underrated saiyans.Glad, they got some much needed focus.
I actually watched retellings before the movies and I think it has been pointed multiple times that retellings fit super’s narrative much better than the movies.
