I believe this new foe may not be as strong as people are suggesting, if goku can’t beat jiren, why would people suggest it to be someone Infinitely above jirens level, like zarama?

Who else is a “long awaited opponent for Goku to fight against again” Goku has just mastered UI, and is FINALLY strong enough to take on Beerus now. Beerus will FINALLY have his “arch rival” that he dreamed off. In fact, that’s the whole reason why the story of Super started in the first place! Beerus searching for a worthy opponent. A mighty “arch rival” and i feel like all the events of Super have been leading up to this moment. Their Rematch!

Furthermore, the Manga hinted at it too! Quite recently. With the Oracle Fish bringing it up again.

Furthermore, the Spoilers for this movie mentioned that it would expand on the relationship between Freeza and the Saiyans. And who ordered Freeza to destroy Planet Vegeta!??? Jep, that’s right. You’ve guessed it. Beerus!

It could be. But why would goku want to fight beerus? Goku doesn’t care if he ordered freeza to destroy namek or not, only vegeta would, so the focus would be on vegeta and not goku.

All the constant "time travelling is prohibited" characters kept saying in Future Trunks saga came from video game and Bardock's personality in Dragon Ball Minus also came from game (although both these concepts may have come from Toriyama).

It's likely Beerus but seeing Hit get a good fight in a movie would be a dream come true! That's partially why I didn't mind a movie retelling of the Champa Arc.

1) Vegeta finds out Beerus ordered to destroy P.Vegeta
2) Vegeta irrationally attacks Beerus or they get into an argument
3) Beerus gets mad and says he's gonna Destroy the Earth
4) Goku fights him to save the planet
And there you have it

Beerus fits the foe description, as an opponent.

Honestly I wouldn't like it as well, it would be incredibly repetitive, that's why I don't think Beerus will be the final antagonist of the movie.

If the old cast is going to be in the movie, which is honestly pretty likely given what's been released, than it's best that Goku is in the spotlight.

Now I'll admit that I'm a little biased because I don't care for Vegeta but he's honestly been boring to me since he died and was brought back to life on Namek. That being said, I wouldn't mind him in a secondary role since this movie will have to do with Saiyans. I also honestly hope they use the design for Goku in the recently released image.

Oh, and I'm guessing Beerus would be the foe like a lot of others... but I'm hoping that he's just an ACT II fight or something that takes place in the middle while the real villain is fought at the end.

Overall, looking forward to the movie... but I'm not sure about future tv series.

From that description, it looks somewhat like it's either Beerus or Bardock. (The latter one is really unlikely though)
But I hope it's actually someone new from the saiyan/freeza race's past.
