How tall was Freeza
I think a useful thing to work out would be how tall (approximately) Vegeta is, because using him to compare with at different times fighting against Freeza would help, I think. He's slightly taller than 1st form Freeza from what I recall, and about the same size as 4th form Freeza. The only thing I have trouble with is the idea that Vegeta is 5'6; I just can't see that he is only 2 inches shorter than Goku, even at his tallest (Buu saga) he is a fair amount shorter than him in every image I've seen, but I guess it just comes down to personal opinion

Good point. Especially as Toriyama's evolving art style changed some of them. For example, at the 28th Budokai-Raditz's arrival, Krillin is a head shorter than Goku. Around Frieza saga, Goku towers over him.

An random anime screen would no doubt be more inconsistent then a manga title pic; so through the magic of something called "scanning", I present to you a title pic from one of my privately owned volumes:

Considering Goku was 5'7" according to Toriyama, how tall would Freeza be?

That pic makes him look like he could be 5 feet AT MOST. It'd be easier to just say that Freeza's as tall as his tail is long.

He (Gohan) is weaker. He has the fighting spirit of a wet noodle soaked in water until it barely resembles a noodle. A pebble is tougher than Gohan, because you could conceivably trip on a rock and stub your toe, while Gohan would yield like so much melted pudding. Vanilla pudding. Because he's too pansy-ass to have a strong flavor if he was pudding. Pure water has more flavor than hypothetical Gohan-pudding.
.... I think I lost where I was going there.[/quote]

Ah, thanks a lot for posting that scan, DemonKingPiccolo, that was exactly the chapter page I meant earlier, but I don't have a scanner ^^; would anyone agree that Freeza, considering Goku's 'canon' height of 175 cm (5 ft 8 in) would be around 4 feet tall? Not that this is a big argument or anything, I'm just interested in others' thoughts.
Edit: hmm, that said it does make him look slightly smaller than perhaps he appears at other points in the fight....basically Mr. Hague is correct in that it's unlikely that Toriyama-sensei really kept it consistent, I think...

Heres afew screenshots from the Anime, Ill put them in order from Shortest to tallest

As you can see on the 1st image Freeza barley reaches Gokus chest
on the 2nd he just reches Gokus chest
on the 3rd it works out if Goku was standing Freeza would reach Gokus chest
and the 4th Freeza reaches Gokus Shoulder
So from these images we could Almost Very Accuratley Point out how tall Freeza Really is?

"A head taller" than someone is, on average, a foot difference. Goku's a little taller than "A head taller" than Freeza. So I'd say if Goku's 5 ft 7 that Freeza's about 4 ft 4 or 4ft 5.

Well, using that second image: separating Goku's body into 6 equal sections (to represent 1 foot each, approximately) and moving Freeza right next to it makes the latter around 4 to 4 feet and a couple inches.
I know this isn't the most scientific method, but since this matches my previous estimates pretty well, I can't say anything other than this.
That said, I would personally be more inclined to rely on the manga despite Olivier Hague's very valid point about Toriyama's changeability when it came to drawing things; I seem to recall some very shoddy sequences in the anime where they surely can't have been using the official height charts etc, just because it looked like it had been drawn by children...but I digress; I agree with Xyex- 4 feet to maybe 4 and a half.

That manga scan is from a chapter-cover which means it's mostly just caricature. I needn't remind you of a certain chapter-cover depicting "semi-perfect Cell" as having a gigantic head with a tiny body, do I? I wouldn't take that image to be a guide, personally, because within the chapters themselves, Freeza doesn't really seem to be that short. I mean, he is short, but he's actually taller than Vegeta, from what I can see.

I didnt use that manga scan as a referance, I used multiple shots from the AnimeFindKenshi wrote:That manga scan is from a chapter-cover which means it's mostly just caricature. I don't know whether I'd call the image "caricature" exactly, but it does to me feel somewhat rare that we see Freeza that small. But I wouldn't put him any higher than 4.5 feet, myself-- his size, remember, or sheer lack thereof, was part of what made his fourth form so strangely deceptive in appearance, and I don't imagine anything particularly spooky about someone who's 5'+.Randio wrote:Freeza's around 4 feet in that pic, I think. But it looks a bit weird, I dunno.
The anime, of course, distorts his frame in all sorts of ways depending on the animation team at work, so I don't trust it for a second.

Wait, you say it like the shots are inconsistent. He's hovering in the second pic and Gokou is on his knees in the second, so how is Freeza's size any different in any of them? I think it's a pretty good measure for how tall he was in comparison.SSj Gogito wrote:Heres afew screenshots from the Anime, Ill put them in order from Shortest to tallest

These shots do fine, yes. And the anime in general doesn't usually have a problem with height (aside from the one shot that I think we're all aware of, ngh). But with Freeza's body FRAME, it's a different story-- I can think of any number of shots where I noticed that Freeza either A) had elongated limbs or B) just looked too bulked up for something that was less than his 100%.

King Cold is that large in the manga, too.
