Interview with Brian Drummond!

Post by Kirbopher » Wed Nov 28, 2007 5:37 pm

Fellow Ocean Group VA, Trevor Devall, has a podcast on his website: http://trevordevall.com/

The most recent episode is an interview with everyone's big fav, Brian Drummond! Any of you guys who were fans of the old dub, and his interpretation of Vegeta's voice, I'd definitely reccomend listening in. The interview is really cool, and Brian seems like a genuinly nice guy, with Vegeta being his #1 fav anime voice role, AND the first one he ever got!

He also talks about how he got the role of Ryuk on Death Note, how he was originally going to play Cyclops on X-Men Evolution before they recast Kirby Morrow, and I even wrote in with an explanation on the infamous "OVER 9000!" videos, which not surprisingly he knew about already. Be sure to check it out!

His voicework as Vegeta is the only reason why I own the first two Ocean dub season boxsets. Really outstanding interpretation, and one of the most memorable english voice overs of an anime character ever IMO.

Can't wait to listen to this later tonight after class.

Wonder what his Cyclops would've been like.

I couldn't picture him as Cyclops (but his Ryuk is spot-on).

Wow, I've never heard any interview with him before. Mr. Drummond sounds awesome.
On hiatus.

The RSS/iTunes link doesn't actually allow you to download any of the audio, and even when I tinkered around with a URL, all I could get was an RSS feed of the last four blog entries, sans-audio.

Guess I'll just have to directly download it.

Strangely enough, I tried directly downloading it, and it wouldn't play on ANYTHING whatsoever. Yet it played for me when I tried it from the site itself. Very peculiar O_o;

Quicktime plays it. I've gotten it to download and play off of my (rarely used) Quicktime Player.
On hiatus.

Yeah, the direct audio link is an *.M4A (I'm assuming it's just standard AAC; I don't remember if there were any iTunes enhancements in there, like chapter stops).

Regardless, QuickTime/iTunes will play it. Winamp will play it, too, with an appropriate AAC/M4A plugin.

Yeah, not even quicktime was working for me. It's gone fine in the previous episodes, but this and the Scott McNiel one wouldn't budge...

Ah well. Glad you guys seem to like this. I'd definitely suggest goin' back to listen to the other episodes, too. The Vancouver VAs are hilarious and fun XD;

VLC Media Player will play it just fine, it'll play almost anything actually. Except for Real Media files, but who the hell has those anyway? :P

That was nice to hear his story. He rocked as Tuvar and Stinkor on He-Man, and I was glad to hear him mention that.

Cyclops is the stereotypical male leader general type. Drummond's voice is too raspy for that
