I just think that we as a Dragonball Fanbase, should all send our letters of concern/advice to FOX Studios California(?) about the film. Because The Four-pawed King is right, sitting here complaining about it won't get anything done. They need to hear feedback from actual fans(I don't know why they didn't bring something this important to the fans in the first place anyway
) Unfortunately, all I could find was a mailing adress to FOX Studios California, does anyone know of any email adresses?

Great idea. It couldn't possibly have any less impact than the dozens of letters sent to FUNimation about the Season Sets.
...Oh, wait. That's right.
Sarcasm aside, I don't see the point. Quite frankly, the studio doesn't care what a bunch of obsessed, picky fans, who are in the distinct minority of the series' fan base, are whining about in regards to their movie. Believe it or not, they're under no obligation to care, either. What they're giving us is FINE, doesn't change the original material in any way, and should be taken for what it is: something separate, and hopefully, enjoyable in it's own right.

I know that if I were a producer of this film I wouldn't listen to what most people on this thread were saying. If these people had their say the movie would end up looking like the re-inactment of the Cell games.
Sometimes it seems like people don't have any imagination at all, or in the very least don't watch any other television shows or movies cuz pretty much every aspect of the Dragonball franchise has been handled in television and motion picture form. And every character in the series has been done before, but according to you people if every aspect of their personality and life isn't reflected verbatim then it's not them.

I know I'm coming in a little bit late with this comment, but I think I have to let it out now. I don't get why the Mexican actor for Bulma is wearing a shirt that says "Like a Virgin" on it? Does this mean she does "it" like a virgin or is she "Like, a virgin". I don't get this and it makes no sense to me whatsoever sort of like the idea of Bulma being played by a Mexican actress. Bulma always struck me as the typical American girl (rich and spoiled with a big house and a billionare father who happens to be the owner of a big corporation...) sort of thing going on. Nothing against the chica though despite not being the demographic I would go for.

Well, it's starting to hit me that it's actually happening. Not a very hard hit since it's not off the ground, but I definatly believe that it's confirmed now.
I really like Marsters as Piccolo, I'm a fan of his from Smallville, but Chatwin makes me scared to death. I'm very scepticle, but exited nonetheless. Of course I'll be more exited (and sceptic) in due time.

I wince everytime I see this thread bumped because I'm afraid it'll be more horrible news. XD
Yet in every other aspect of life I'm generally an optimistic person.
I still don't like "Chatwin" for Goku, and while I could do something immature and start calling him "Chatlose", I'm instead going to hope that this somehow, someway, all turns out alright.
Because I'm going to have to deal with it's merchandising blitz at work for the first half of the summer leading up to its August release. >_>

"Like A Virgin" was a famous Madonna song. I assume that's what it is. Damn, I haven't heard that song for years and it's still stuck in my head...Bardock the Mexican wrote:I know I'm coming in a little bit late with this comment, but I think I have to let it out now. Anyway, I'm hoping this will all work out and be a good movie, but at the same time I'm kind of not. I mean, Spike from Buffy, little green ninjas, kung-fu grandpas, James Wong... every single thing I've seen about it, really, and throw in some inevitable bad action movie one one-liners... this has great cult movie potential. If it's terrible, then it might be great. This could be a Rocky Horror Picture Show for anime fans.

The more sinister-looking pictures I see of Marsters on the internet, the more I'm convinced he'll make a good Piccolo.
I've seen a few Goku-ish-looking pictures of Chatwin, too.

Yeah, WTF is up with that?! Given the popularity of DragonBall Z that's being exploited for the success of this film, dropping the Z is like cutting a dollar bill in half.Lavender Saiyan wrote:I love that image for the Open Casting Calls. They just take the DBZ Logo and chop off the Z. Hilarious.

That's typically what a casting call for extras is for, yes. Generally, they work for several hours during a shoot and reshoot to just "be there" for the scene in whatever background capacity is required and are usually given a set monetary compensation as opposed to a wage (as they wouldn't necessarily be part of the Screen Actors' Guild, and thus are usually ineligible for an actual wage or speaking roles) to fulfill these roles. Typically a meal, also.Gogeta1090 wrote:Hmm maybe they meant that people who want to be in the movie are going to be minor characters, people just walking around in the background or just minions for Piccolo or something. Thats my opinion anyway
In exchange, they commit to being unable to leave until the scene is finished, regardless of how many takes are shot. As they aren't typically given speaking roles, I'm not surprised that the positions are advertised as "no experience necessary"-- it doesn't take a whole lot of that to stand around filling space.
It's bullshit.Goteta1090 then wrote:And yeah, no idea why they cutted off the Z in DragonballZ Logo.

The chud.com character snyposis is far more likely to be authentic then it is to be fraud. That site has always been quite reliable, but more importantly: that bit of news was released quite some time ago, and no offical source has shot it down.
Furthermore, the article was used in reference to both an IGN article, and also a spot on the G4 TV network. I'd say "All signs point to yes." at that character synoposis actually being real. High school student Goku, here we come.
What I'm really looking forward to is the video game. You know they always make a video game based off of these action movies. Dragonball The Movie: The Game. You play as "Emo Goku" and have to run from bullies and build up self-confidence points with martial arts training, the high ninjas of Piccolo kill your grandfather, and you have to go on a car chase through the streets of New York.

I'm still hoping to see the high school thing shot down.
I can't stand high-school drama in fanfiction, I couldn't stand it back when I was in high school!
If they're going to stick them in school at least stick them in college where there's far less clique-y-ness.
High school was alright, but it doesn't hold a candle to college for me. (But that's just my experience).
If they're going to be a gung-ho about the high school thing, why not pick an anime that already takes place there!? Seriously?!
Bleach and YuYuHakusho BOTH take place in high school.
Death Note takes place in high school.
Dbz (aside from Gohan's exploits, and Gohan's not even IN this movie) does not take place in high school!
