Dragon Ball Z Kai box sets

Hi everyone! I'm in the process of collecting Dragon Ball Z Kai on DVD and Blu ray and i was wondering if any of the DVD's were released in a box set. If they were, could someone please idenity them for me? Thanks!

No box sets, however there have been collected Seasons for the original Kai run. This doesn't apply to The Final Chapters, however.

The season sets are the closest thing we've gotten to a Funi Kai box set, but as said before these season sets only cover Kai 1.0. Whether or not you are interested in these season sets is entirely up to you.

The initial run of Kai has two different scores, Yamamoto and Kikuchi. If you like Kai with Yamamoto you may want to track down the original parts, although that could be a costly endeavour and unless you contact the sellers first you may not get this score with the parts if they were reprinted later, but, if your like me and enjoy the Kikuchi replacement track the season sets are the way to go, the season sets also have the advantage of being affordable and taking up less shelf space.

For The Final Chapters you only have the parts, these parts only have one musical track (Sumitomo) so less hassle there in terms of making a choice. There are no season sets for this portion of the series but there more than likely won't be since one part has nearly as many episodes as the previous season sets.

The final chapters have the exact same number of episodes the old season sets had.

seasons 1&2 had 26 episodes. seasons 3&4 had 25&21 episodes. the final chapters 3 parts each had 23 episodes.

There are no boxsets though the closest to that by FUNimation are the Season BDs/DVDs, there is a catch. The Season sets have the replacement music so you'll be missing out on the original broadcast music by Kenji Yamamoto which you can get via Parts 1-4 but even then, you need to be careful since there were reprints of the Parts with the replacement Z music.

The Manga UK Season Kai sets (BD/DVD) feature the Yamamoto score on Seasons 1 and 2 but it's not even in its entirety because halfway of Season 2 it switches to the replacement score.

Well, yeah. There is the issue of the region lock thing but if he's alright with the DVD version then there's probably no problem with that since there are quite a lot of region free DVD players in the world and some or a lot of Blu-ray Players have the possibility to make its DVD counterpart region free with a cheat code.

The French Kazé Kai sets are what I'd call the closest to being Kai boxsets and boy, do they look awesome! They also retained the original broadcast aspect ratio but unfortunately they only have the replacement score (I suppose if the viewer never saw the series with the Yamamoto score then that's irrelevant).

Outside of the French boxsets listed above (which do not have English dub audio tracks), the closest things Kai has to boxsets are the Season Sets for the original 2009/2010 run. The "Part" sets for The Final Chapters also count as this because they offer the same amount of discs as the Kai Season Sets and run for the same price. So going by that, your set will look like this:

The 2011 Edition Blu-ray of FUNimation's Dragon Ball Kai - Season 1. Unlike the 2012 Edition, this came with the original broadcast music by Kenji Yamamoto. It's kind of preposterous there were people complaining that it didn't include the "original soundtrack" and this helped pushing forward the 2012 re-release.

Original Soundtrack = Kenji Yamamoto
Replacement Soundtrack = Shunsuke Kikuchi

If only TOEI had put care into the Kikuchi placements in Kai I would've been more than happy with it but they only did a somewhat decent job for episodes 96-98.

It makes sense for the original broadcast considering the circumstances of it all, however their sloppy placements for the home video release is something that'll stand literally forever for anyone who buys them now. If they sacrificed just a little bit more money and actually tried to match what was in the original Z then maybe we wouldn't have to argue for Yamamoto's score outside of aesthetic reasons.

They had to rush out the replacement score so that foreign language versions could switch over to them asap. I recall the English dub airing on tv suddenly using the Kikuchi score only a couple weeks after the scandal happened.

There are English complete boxsets of Dragon Ball Kai, though exclusive to Australia (and possibly NZ).
