I don't know how likely that's going to be, Kaboom. From what I understand, the dual-release of Broli movies 8 and 10 was also "remastered" but contained no option to listen to the dub with Japanese BGM the way the Season Sets do.

But hey, here's hoping.

Actually, I think it was the other way around. Jap music, but no dub. Howeve,r I could be wrong.
The Broly Blu-Ray release only had the original dub and the Japanese version, no option for the dub w/t Japanese BGM. Not sure which way this Trunks/Bardock release will go regarding that.

I hope this has the option for the Japanese music. I absolutely hate what they did to the music in these movies, although some of the Dream Theatre stuff was cool...still doesn't really work for Dragonball though. I'm not happy about the widescreen, but I'm not going to pay a ridiculous amount for the full screen release when if I want to watch the dub I'd have to listen to shitty rap and metal music.

Doesn't work for the Japanese DBZ, but it works fine in American culture. You see real music in US animated movies all the time. Can't really think off the top of my head, but I know there are. Oh, and you know Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie? The dub didn't have the original Japanese music, it used real artist music...and it was AMAZING. Much better than the original. Then again, it had a better dub team and they really worked hard on it.

But come on, you have to remember that when FUNimation was banging out these episodes and movies, they were still a company of nobodies. They finished all of DBZ in 2 years, 1999-2001 (I remember around 9/11/2001 they were showing the Great Saiyaman Saga, and they had the Majin Buu stuff done already obviously). So just remember that this was all made before FUNimation really mastered its craft.

You can say it "works for American culture", but I'm American and I thought it sucked ass. No one wants to hear Disturbed in DBZ...it just completely ruins the mood of the show. (the idiots who make crappy AMVs on youtube don't count) It's not American, so it should be left alone. And yes, I remember SFII and I didn't enjoy it for the soundtrack.

For what it's worth, I thought that both versions were good.

The only movie/specials dub music that really bothered me was in Movie 8. I know it was near the end of the final battle and this music came on that completely eclipsed even the volume on the dub VA's so that I couldn't hear what they were saying. That was irritating.

I haven't watched the Trunks and Bardock specials in a long while, so I don't remember what their dub music was like (be it good or bad, I have no idea.)
On hiatus.

I love that Cover Art, classic Trunks shot. Though Bardock did get screwed over.

That's a pretty cool cover. Definitely better than the season-sets or that Blu-ray Brolli-disc.

Wasn't the new Broly cover just both covers split in 2? :?

Personally, I never minded the Disturbed music. I know it's not the way it was meant to be heard, and when they re-release them with Japanese Music with Dub I'll watch it that way instead, but the music isn't that bad and fits with SOME of the scenes they played for. Like in Lord Slug, or more so in Cooler's Revenge.

I didn't really like the dub music in these two movies, but there is one song I did like. The song at the very end of the Trunks Special dub, it was something about "Churchyard gates...grass being overgrown" and stuff like that. I liked that song. :D

Then again, a typical fan would be wondering what the hell Bardock is doing on the cover with Trunks. And so it would begin, by the fans who know nothing, it's DBAF, it's this, it's that, it's the lost movie. Yadda yadda. I don't think you can put those two characters together. Maybe a split screen? Still, I don't mind the cover. Maybe Bardock is featured on the back.

I'd rather have Bardock on the cover any day, he's much cooler than Trunks.

Then again, Bardock showed up in one movie special and had a 5 second cameo in like 2 episodes most. While Trunks was in how many episodes? Yeah.

Anyway, that's beside the point. The movie specials should be great. Even if they are "Remastered". I mean I would get this even if I had the originals, but still. I'd like to have both, but I won't because they're really rare to come by...or expensive. Anyways, as I said, maybe Bardock is featured on the back. Like it might not be the cover, it could be the jacket to the cover, double sided so on the front it's a Trunks cover, on the back it's a Bardock?

That's a good idea, I hope they do it that way. I'll switch mine to Bardock. :D

And I never said he appeared more often, he's just way cooler.

And my question still worries me - is this HD/Blu-Ray like the Broly DVD, or is this a standard definition?

Seems like Standard Definition. Blu-Rays and HDDVDs don't look like that. They're smaller and the cover is more square (think PS3 games). Also it would say that somewhere. I guess whereas Broly was a movie, this is more part of the show, which they're releasing on regular DVD.

That's a reliefe - I don't have HD/Blu-ray capabilities yet, so I was hoping it was standard. ^_^; Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Maybe the cover is reversible, with Bardock other side and Trunks blackened out?
