I would argue that, while he was more confident than before after training with Piccolo, he didn't stop being paralyzed with fear until the Frieza arc at the earliest, & the Androids arc at the latest.
And I would say you seem to forget that Gohan went back to help Goku fight Vegeta. He also stood up to Nappa and Vegeta. He wasn't paralyzed by fear well before even the Freeza arc. Hell, he stood up to his mother so he could leave for Namek.
I'm not forgetting that at all. You seem to forget that he was frozen in fear at the sight of Nappa's attack, which is what caused Piccolo to take the hit for him. I'll give it to Gohan that he DEFINITELY steadily grew more confident after that, but I don't think it culminated then. That was a step towards that culmination. The Frieza arc is where he truly came into his own, which was furthered in the Cell saga.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

If DB had ended with Freeza's defeat, it would've been a satisfying conclusion. I don't think Gohan's hidden power was an incomplete arc by even then. The Grand Elder drew it out and Gohan was a full fledged member of the team (to the extent there is one).

I get your point about it being a different arc, but I don't agree. Plenty of people claim that his arc that started from the moment we first saw him doesn't feel complete until he turns SSJ2. Apparently everything is leading to him becoming the strongest and the main character. However, him tapping into his potential isn't really a character arc, it's just a power up.

I almost understand your point about the RRA arc, but what are you claiming is his character arc in the RRA arc?

You are still missing the point. It culminated with him going back to help his father against Vegeta. That's a satisfying climax as he's invaluable to the outcome of the story. Standing up to his mother and his adventures on Namek were the RESULTS of his newfound courage. The Cell arc is a huge step back, if anything.
The biggest truths aren't original. The truth is ketchup. It's Jim Belushi. Its job isn't to blow our minds. It's to be within reach.

I don't think him becoming a capable and willing fighter is the end of his character arc, because he still changes later: into a slacker when it comes to martial arts.

Okay, not COMPLETE trash, but a good chunk of it is.

The extremely repetitive fighting between Goku and Vegeta against Jiren really bothered me. Seriously, go watch the edited version of that part of the fight on youtube (which cuts out all of the pointless chit chat), it's beyond ridiculous.

Also, Jiren is pretty much playing defense against Goku, Vegeta, and 17, and for the life of me, I couldn't understand why he wasn't trying to knock them out of the arena. You know, which is the entire point of this tournament. I mean, after all, he was significantly more powerful than all 3 of them and he's just wasting precious time bullshitting. It was frustrating to watch.

Ultra Instinct Goku vs Jiren was cool though, I'll admit, but I didn't care all that much about it because everything up until that point felt like Jiren just stalling until Goku went Ultra Instinct. To sum up, it never felt like Jiren was trying to win the tournament so it was hard for me to be invested in the fight.

The whole "trust and friendship" thing is lame too. Get that mess out of here

Oh oh, see by final battle I thought you were singling out the Ultra Instinct fight in 130 being trash. But no I totally agree with you. After the first fight against Goku showing Jiren's immense strength, it's like they wrote themselves into a corner and were forced to make him look weaker so he didn't just one shot everyone.

Honestly, I don't know if she's worthy of a solo manga, though I do think she is good material for one. She got way to much hate, along with all of Universe 2.

Super 17 is one of my favorite villain designs in the franchise.

Large muscle mass in character designs are overrated and leaves me very baffled how obsessed the fandom are over them.
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

I disagree. She had screen time aplenty. What she could have used more of was GOOD screen time. Her first transformation alongside the other Maidens was great, her fight with 18 too. Everything else in-between? Could have probably benefited more from some actual character introspection to make her final stand against 18 hold more weight.

Using her only as the character who kept 17, Vegeta and Goku busy from actually doing the stuff people wanted to see from them was kind of a waste. Especially with 69 other characters who could fulfill that purpose.

She really is one of the better designed characters in the tournament, with a terrific, varied moveset and a great gag to go along with it, but when you draw the line she doesn't really amount to anything.

This may seem a bit odd, as its not my own personal opinion but I felt it was necessary to post here just to see if i'm the only person who knows a guy who feels this way... but apparently this one guy I know puts fricken "SUPER" over "Z". He kinda just told me this and I dont know what to say to him lol I really don't. Not bad mouthing the guy but thats just so weird to me. He likes the "original" Dragon Ball above the rest of the franchise and hates GT (which is neither here nor there) but puts Super Over Z.. I really dont know what to say lol.. Think I'm just gonna revoke his DB Fan Card

Unless we've both talked to the same person about this, I am now aware of two people with this opinion, but I've heard others make jokes about this that suggest they've heard this opinion expressed.

Honestly I think depending on who is writing it, their motivations in how they want to take her character and what that main topics of that story are, it would be a for an Interesting Manga to help fans get to know more about Brianne and the characters of U2 in good ways if done right.

I have always said it is fine if a character is not a fans favorite, everyone has the right to like and dislike whatever character they choose and go from their. But fans also have to remember while one character is not your favorite it likely is of another fan and they have the right to enjoy that as much as one enjoys their own favorites.

Sadly, To much of the internet I found did not let this happen for Ribrianne and some fans of her.

I have seen posts by fans of Ribrianne, Fan-Art and even just comments complementing her at times that have to have some kind of wording like "Don't Hate Me or Attack me for Liking Ribrianne" and I am like WTF, why does a fan have to apologize for liking nearly Any character?! :eh:

The Hate focused on Ribrianne by some groups of fans was so constant and so way over the top, mainly in YouTube area, that I Never Got what the Point of it all was or why it got so bad fans felt scared to even say they liked her?! Cause she is Heavy or has a different none-Over Muscled Look or defines her power by love instead of Pride or Anger, just what seem some of the major reasons where I am gussing?! I just never got why it got to the levels it did or even if many who spouted it even payed real attention to her character moments that gave some depth to her.

I just disappointing to me to many ends that parts of the fandom did this and still only point to personal preference differences for the most part as to why she go so much hate leveled on her, just was unnecessary is such a Mythos with so many different and unique characters.

I prefer it over Z. Everything after the Saiyan Arc drags on and on and on and on and on, forever, and it bores me. That is the cardinal sin of any piece of entertainment.

Basically, it comes down to how I watched subtitled entertainment. Normally, I prefer dubs, as I tend to multitask while watching. With Z, the dub is so God-awful, that it's a fucking chore. And while the sub, I understand, is much better, that doesn't fix the pacing. Super, regardless of it's relative quality, whatever THAT even means, is more enjoyable for me to sit down and watch than Z.

I mean, Super's definitely got something going for it, otherwise those people constantly screeching about how it is terrible and the worst thing ever and pointless and childhood-destroying wouldn't have tuned in every single week to gouge their eyes and ears out with such a terrible product.

I certainly don't agree with him, but it's also understandable. As Kamiccolo said, it's better paced than Z, making it a much easier watch. Not to mention it's much more comparable to a modern day anime than any previous Dragon Ball anime. The story may be technically worse and the animation and modeling may be painfully bad at times, but it's still en enjoyable watch and, of course, it has characters old and new designed by Toriyama which is always a joy.

If nothing else, Super's got the Dragon Ball name slapped onto it, so the novelty of "a new Dragon Ball series" can keep even the most serious detractors coming back.

It flows precisely and fluidly from where things left off in the aftermath of the 23rd Budokai and mostly hits the ground running from there without really stopping to look back. You're plopping someone into the middle of a book starting at chapter 195 out of 519 for absolutely no good goddamn reason, with very minimal opportunity to look back at much needed context and character/story growth.
