11 GT Singles Dates Released & other info...

Post by ect5150 » Sat Dec 15, 2007 2:43 pm

Scanning Amazon.jp as I probably do once a week, I noticed we can pre-order all 11 discs of the GT singles now. They are releasing 2 a month as originally thought with the exception of the last three.

Disc 1 & 2 : Feb 6, 2008
Disc 3 & 4 : Mar 5, 2008
Disc 5 & 6 : April 2, 2008
Disc 7 & 8 : May 9, 2008
Disc 9, 10 & 11 : Jun 4, 2008

Amazon JP has the following as box art, but it isn't correct:

I guess the movies may be released starting in July or August? Then I'm curious if they will release the 'specials' at all as that is the only real thing missing.

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Uh... that would really be the only thing even left to do (other than stop the releases all together).

There's only 11. Wow. I may not have been able to get the DBZ and DB ones but by the time these start coming out, I'll hopefully have a job and I'm gonna get them.

Yeah me too, the DB and DBZ covers where great and I think the Gt covers will be great too. The only bad thing is that japanese people hate americans so they don't put subs on their DVD.

Stupid Funi why can't they take the release from toei.

It's not because they hate Americans, it's just they cannot be bothered. Very few Americans buy these releases, so there is no point (and given the price points between the US and JP releases, even with subs, they wouldn't really garner enough sales)

Why did funi had spanish sub on some releases?

the answer: To enlarge the market => more buyers

If toei would sell with eng sub they would get buyers not only from jap but from aus sua and europe and so on, it's not like I said english dub it's just sub

Spanish subtitles on a region 1 release is not suprising considering the large hispanic population that resides in the US and surrounding territories.

Japanese releases are catered for a Japanese audience. Japan, last time I checked, is like, 99% Japanese, who speak Japanese as their first (and sometimes only) language. English subtitles wouldn't have a point. Subsequently people in the US, Mexico, and Australia and such have their own releases and for the most part, are happy with those.

Most of the people who want to import R2 DVDs already have. Those who would, but do not because of subtitles, are in very low numbers, and importation isnt really viable since these DVDs are still relativley expensive.

Effort in making/buying subtitles from FUNimation or anyone else, synching them up and putting them through QA wouldn't be worthwhile because the ammount of extra sales would not compensate for the cost of putting on like, 504 episode subtitles.

Subsequently they're often in the top 10 selling DVD ranks in Japan ever since the first Z singles came out. They're not doing poorly in sales at all.

Are you really happy with funi dvd releases? With them not realising a full, uncut good dvd collection, with realising the same season or movie on 3 separate dvds in the same year? They even messed the gt releases, they weren't even able to release in normal order.

I think there are a lot of people that look to buy a very good dvd collection. There would be from 100.000 to 500.000 people buying every individual disc.

I agreed with you on the rest of what you said.

No, I'm not happy, and to give you the benefit of not being here for very long I was one of the more vocal members when it came to the whole widescreen issue. What you have to understand though is that really, these releases are not aimed for you and I, the season sets anyway. THey're aimed for the nine year olds, the people who think they know stuff, the people who like cheap shit.

Sorry, no, you're pulling figures out of your ass.
