@Shenron
I can't see I should be grateful to get a movie I never wished for in the first place.
Furthermore, upon all the action movie which are released these days, how many are really good ? Or only decent ? Not that much. And with Dragonball, we are talking about an action movie which :

1-Will be released in only 8 month, though the cast isn't fully established yet. We don't even have seen any trailer yet !

2-Is an adaptation of a manga, i.e. some kind of foreign comics. Just remember that even famous comics like Daredevil or Fantastic Four have been poorly adapted.

3-Has obviously fo only purpose to turn to profit one of the popular TV series of the moment, whatever it is. Dragonball is 20 years old. Why not making this movie 10 years ago ? Because 10 years ago, it wouldn't have been lucrative. I'm pretty sure the producers were thinking something like : "OK, Dragonball is very popular now in the US, let's hurry to make some live action movie to earn some money before its popularity fades for good".

We're not pessimistic, but we're not naive either. And even if I'm wrong, at least it will be a good surprise if this movie is good.
You simply said all that PERFECTLY! you have my deepest respect, thank you.

And I would add something more...

this picture that GANTZ posted is actually A SCENE you can read here -
http://www.dragonballmovieblog.com/ And GOKU will look like that in movie....

So SSj Kaboom!? what you say on this?
Look at that fancy T-shirt!?!! and he is even in Jeans!?!? He just miss a scooter, motorola mobile pohne, and necklace...

I understand that everyone made mistakes, and I don't say anything bad to you dude, you just need to be more careful...in other words - go back little bit and read your previous post...

Also when you said
WHY is everyone and their grandmothers automatically convinced this movie is going to be so terrible?
Because of this:
The whole idea of DBZ LAM is nightmare to me personally! even if Japanese would do it, and it will not be just for profit and commercial reason, it will ruin the feel and spirit of DBZ.

I say that always, for me the most important aspect of DBZ i s visual/scene style, so I would be terrified even if they made anime sequel with different style, I would be also very very mad(but at least I would not broke 3 keyboards per day...)

So that is the answer, the fact that is live action is alone enough to piss me off, everything else can just increase my(and I guess some others) objection, and this time 20th Fox Century did that just professionally, like they know exactly what I hate most....
I think they crossed the line for me just with Chatwin, not to talk about THAT MARIO POP SINGER, AND THOSE PHOTO MODELS AND THOSE!!....aahhh, god I must stop... i just don't want to broke this keyboard too....

P.S.
You just basicly described almost every movie ever made. Rolling Eyes
Well I would edit your sentence in:

(referring to that live action Goku shot on the last page)

... well at least he's wearing orange.

While it looks like the whole "DB at school" thing is a sure thing, I'm still hoping for the best (though I will admit that it's getting pretty hard to keep the faith).

And in case no one actually clicked on that link to dragonballmovieblog.com:
This particular set is for "Unitech High School" where Goku will take classes. According to the site, the license plates of all the cars say "City Of The Future", while the cars themselves run on "solar cells". In the scene being shot, Goku is ridding a bike when the yellow sports car hits him.

The site also mentions that filming in Durango will begin January 2nd instead of the previously reported January 7th.

I'm guessing the driver of that sports car will be that random school bully mentioned a couple pages back?

Ummm. No. It wouldn't. It wont. And if that's all it takes to 'ruin' DBZ for you then stop watching the series and go away, you never liked it in the first place. Also. There is no such thing as a movie that isn't made for profit or commercial reasons. Deal with it.
(but at least I would not broke 3 keyboards per day...)
Even as a sarcastic comment that's still just sad. Very very sad.
Well I would edit your sentence in:

Dude, seriously, get a fucking clue. EVERY move that's made, ANYWHERE by ANYONE exists for the sole reason of making the company that is making the movie money. That is it. That is the ONLY reason any movie company anywhere in any country on the planet ever makes a movie. It always has been and always will be about profit.

The people behind the movie, the actors and directors and producers and writers, they get on board because they like the movie or the source material for the movie or the cause the movie promotes. But that doesn't chance the fact that the movie exists to make a profit and nothing else. If the movie company didn't believe it'd turn a profit they wouldn't produce it.
I'm guessing the driver of that sports car will be that random school bully mentioned a couple pages back?
Or Bulma, since that's how they meet in the manga and anime.

Well, since you asked... I'll fix up your spelling and grammar for you too.

Well, he's probably not going to wear his training gi to school, so the fact that his fairly simple jeans and t-shirt still match normal colors is a good start, and shows that they're trying to keep and have nods to little details. Also, Goku probably has no need for a scooter (which would only be cool if he had a orange-yellow cloud painted on it, and named it "Nimbus"), would barely know how to work a cell phone, and probably wouldn't sport a necklace either,

I understands that everyone made mistakes, and I don't say anything bad to you dude, you just need to be more careful...in other words - go back little bit and read your previous post...

I read it plenty before I hit "submit." Nothing I can see that needs changing.
Also when you said

Because of this:

But you're saying that as if them making an original, independent movie version of it will affect the original material. It won't; we'll all still have the manga and the anime, the same way it's been finished and done for the last 10-ish years now. The movie is something completely separate, which is another reason why it's so silly to go freaking out about it and comparing it to the manga. As if anything could live up to Toriyama's masterpiece, anyway.
I say that always, for me the most important aspect of DBZ i s visual/scene style, so I would be terrified even if they made anime sequel with different style, I would be also very very mad(but at least I would not broke 3 keyboards per day...)
For visual style, we've seen so far:
  • ~Goku's hair and civilian outfit.
    ~ A futuristic-looking car
    ~ A half-finished, futuristic-looking building.
That doesn't seem to reveal that much in terms of overall style or plot to me.

So that is the answer, the fact that is live action is alone enough to piss me off, everything else can just increase my(and I guess some others) objection, and this time 20th Fox Century did that just professionally, like they know exactly what I hate most....
I think they crossed the line for me just with Chatwin, not to talk about THAT MARIO DUDE AND THOSE PHOTO MODELS AND THOSE!!....aahhh, god I must stop... i just don't want to broke this keyboard too....
I think you, and several others, should really just try to calm down, not take it so seriously, and try to enjoy the movie for what it is. I mean... really.
"You just basicly described almost every Hollywood movie ever made. Rolling Eyes"
Like it or not, the underlying purpose behind ANY movie is to make money.

EDIT:

OR, and this is hopeful speculation on my part...

It'll be Bulma.

Meeting Goku by hitting him with a car.

I hope it's a certain female that hits him, actually. I'm not exactly optimistic about the movie, but that would be an awesome nod to the anime and manga if they threw in a scene like that.

If this film turns out to be good; I'll be extremely happy. Thus far, it seems like we're gonna be watching The OC with superpowers or something.

Not to be conceited or anything, but I think that my Dragonball movie idea that I posted back on the forums (and never got around to finishing) a while back would've caused more of a stir with positive feedback. Hmm, I think I'll finally get around to reading Kaboom's and Daemon's ideas as well.

You just basicly described almost every movie ever made.
Maybe the movies made in the last ten years. And it's not even true.
Like it or not, the underlying purpose behind ANY movie is to make money.
Of course it is, a movie must be profitable for the sake of its producers. But sometimes, and, I like to think, quite often, the director, the actors, and even the technical staff, try to do something more. That's why cinema is called the 9th art.

And this pictures reminds me of Smallville, with Clark wearing mostly blue and red clothes.

Oh my god that screenshot is hilarious, mainly because I read the small blurb quickly and was under the impression that Goku was riding an invisible bike to school. In all honestly it looks fairly funky to me,Goku chilling in the city riding a futuristic bike to school. Now if it was Gohan doing all of this it would be a different story, in fact I think that actor would make a great teenage Gohan.
Aro started to laugh. “Ha, ha, ha,” he chuckled.- Actual quote from Twilight

Well said. I'll spend the ticket price and no doubt purchase the DVD. And you know what? They may just surprise us and produce at least a semi-decent film. If nothing else I hope it's so bad it's good. You know... like a train wreck. So horrible yet you cannot look away. Ah... well I am finally excited to see how this turns out.

No, try ever made, ever, period. Do you have any idea how many movies never see the light of day because the production companies say "This wont even cover costs of production" and toss it in the garbage? It doesn't matter what those involved in the creation of the movie do with it to make it great. At the end of the day the only reason any movie exists is profit.

Emmy Rossum is officially Bulma.

http://www.variety.com/article/VR111797 ... id=13&cs=1
Emmy Rossum has booked the female lead in 20th Century Fox's "Dragonball," based on the popular Japanese manga.

Justin Chatwin stars as Goku, a warrior who protects the Earth from a stream of rogues bent on dominating the universe. James Marsters plays the film's villain, Lord Piccolo.

Rossum takes on the role of Bulma, whose father's Dragon Ball is stolen by Piccolo.

Story is based on Akira Toriyama's manga that has spawned graphic novels, a long-running TV series and more than 25 videogames.

Pic is shooting in Mexico and L.A.

Actor-director-writer Stephen Chow is producing. "Final Destination" helmer James Wong is directing from a script he penned. Ben Ramsey wrote an earlier draft.

Rossum's film credits include "Poseidon" and "The Phantom of the Opera." She also recently released the album "Inside Out" (Geffen Records).
I've only seen her in Phantom of the Opera, and I like her quite a bit.
