Has this conversation served its purpose, yet, or has it completely run its course? I'm fully willing to have an engaging back-and-forth analysis, but it doesn't seem like people actually want to do that. They claim they want it, but then don't follow up with it, instead having the "conversation" degenerate to insults and internet-speak.

Thoughts?

I'd say it just goes to further prove that the Introductions board should stay closed for the time being, and if/once opened again, should be better maintained and supervised.

I like fun and humor as much as the next guy. I mean, it's me we're talking about. But fun and humor is one thing; blatant random, 4chan-fueled stupidity is another.

Oh lord don't bring up 4chan, PLEASE!

Like I said guys, you wanna say hi so bad, just PM them. Most of the griping here is about the admin being too controlling - he's the admin, it's his business, nuff said. He has full control of his forums, just like I and every other forum admins have full control of theirs. Case closed.

I don't like it any more than you do, but it IS where a large percentage of the internet's stupidity spawns from.

If you want to do that, seriously, I´m up for it. I didn´t post there much, but I did enjoy watching - err, reading the comments there.
MY THOUGHTS
Pro's of closure: Some might not be "scared off", less craziness.
Con's of closure: People are more tempted to go off topic in real threads, I have yet to see a mod post in an introduction yet with a "welcome" message, which could make the person feel unwelcome.
Anyone else got some more?
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I haven't been around here much lately, just because I'm going through my cycle where I don't care about Dragonball much. The introductions forum is a place I rarely ever tread here, or anywhere else, just because I've never felt appealed to saying hi to newbies. It's just how I am.

Seeing this is so ridiculous to me. After my single run-in with Mike a year or two ago, I realized and stuck to the mindset of "he created, owns, and runs this place. If you have an idea, suggest it, then drop it.". The mere fact that it turned into a big thing with one person is pretty pointless. He somehow dragged a ton of members into it, as well.

I can't figure out why anyone gives a crap. "Oh no, we can't use saying Hi as an excuse to dick around anymore. Boohoo."

It's not like it'll stay this way forever, and it's not like introduction threads really matter.

Serious business.

Buh, I feel dirty for even taking the time to write on this matter.

---

Also, <3 u bkev and Prince Vegeta. Glad some humor could come out of this.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing. :D

I'm fine with that. But still, it's not as good via PMs...

And Duo... wow, you sound like a cold-hearted bastard!
