I think it’s somewhat ironic that the people who seem to be complaining the most and in the strongest terms are the people complaining about how everyone else is complaining so damn much. Meta-complaining, I guess.

I try to stick to my "not giving a crap" guns by just not posting in general.

But that wouldn't bring attention to me!

So maybe I should say something controversial?

Apathy is really nice sometimes. Interacting with people on the internets gets really tiresome when you try to be intelligent and consistent. I have no idea how so many people can manage to go on about the same things endlessly.

<3 FindKenshi's quote though. Sig'd for win.

I'd rather actually discuss it than just go through the motions or maybe just come popping into threads going "I don't care and you're an undersexed nerd for caring! Bleah!"

To be one of the popular kids, should I sit in the back corner with my hair feathered, my leather jacket on, a cigarette in my mouth, and a look on my face that gives off pure superiority? Because, everyone knows it's cool to go to something you don't care about and waste your evening showing off that you don't care. That's usually how the emo kids and the goths who think life is a fashion show do it.

I seriously hate the "you need to get laid" logic. I really don't see what that has to do with the topic. Why even come in this thread if you care so little? Did you not get to steal enough lunch money in high school or something and need to show your superiority to the "nerds" that don't get "laid"? Furthermore, the terms "emo" and "goth" are thrown around so much without anyone knowing what it actually means. They're stupid labels used by kids that don't know a damn thing. Kendamu summed it up nicely.

... Sex is for noobs. There, I said it. :P. And it's probably stupid, but when compared to some other stuff...

I can't help but parrot everyone else though that agrees with F. Kenshi's awesome wisdom. Most annoying thing about any fancommunity--especially dragonball--is when its fans lack imagination.
Seriously, am I the only person who took Barney the Dinosaur seriously until he stopped singing about things I didn't know? ... >.>. <.<. O...k... then. Well, here's hoping this thread doesn't get any more lock-worthy...

Actually, I think I've got a sudden insight into what's wrong with this specific community: we don't have an off-topic forum.

OK, so I'm not saying that we actually should have one, but the inherent flaw in a Dragon Ball forum is that you only see people talking about Dragon Ball. That is, you only see the Dragon Ball fan-portion of each member's life. I think that it's safe to assume that, despite how it might appear, every member of this forum has a life outside Dragon Ball. I mean, look at VegettoEX: he has the second highest post count here, he made this forum, he keeps the website (for 9 or so years no less), he does the podcast every week, and he's done Dragon Ball panels at anime conventions. He's probably more involved in the fandom than anyone else here, but he still has far, far more things going on in his life.

I think everyone else here likewise has a life outside of Dragon Ball, even if they have a high post count or write a lot of fan-fiction or whatever. And everyone knows this fact about themselves, since they live their lives and know what they do. But for other members you tend to forget this fact, since you only see them talking about Dragon Ball. You leave a post in an argument about the Season Sets or whatever, and then you go visit some other websites, and then you go to your job or classes, and then you hang out with friends, and then you go to a movie, and then at night you come back and those people are still arguing about the Season Sets. What is wrong with them? Are they crazy or something? Don't they have lives? But of course you don't see what any of those people are doing between posts, just as they can only see you posting about Dragon Ball and therefore think you must be some sort of fanatic.

That's why when you look through this thread and others like it, you see all these posts where people say how all these other people are just so crazy and obsessed with the series; how all these people are always complaining about the dub or the Season Sets or people who complain about the Season Sets or people who complain about all the people who complain about the Season Sets. In reality, I think most people here are much more sane than they may seem (except for me of course; I actually am that crazy).

I swear that anyone that actually uses it is a virgin.

Some people do need to take things here a little less seriously, but other people act like this isn't the place to discuss it, if anything, it's the only place, they tell others to stop complaining, and sadly enough that's the extent of their input over the whole forum.

Complaining about people complaining, thats somebody crying out for sex right there!

I thought we were talking about the community here and how it's affected by the controversy of the season sets release, not the hate of FUNimation itself. So I thought you were attacking the actual topic here as opposed to what it may have nearly degenerated to a few times.

Sure, I'm also a "Fuck FUNi's DB/Z stuff" kind of person, but I do agree that the constant need to bitch about FUNimation isn't bringing anything new to the table at the moment. However, once the Blu-Ray and DVD remasters of movies 1 & 2 come out, I'm sure someone out there will compare them side-by-side to see if anything Steve Franko said about bad downconverting is true.

I still don't think people should be discouraged from bitching about the DB movie, though, as long as new info is coming out.

This goes out to all the people who think that we are bitching too much. Is it so wrong that we want to have the series consistent and unbutchered? I'm not even talking about Dragon Boxes here, I just mean having all of the series in the correct aspect ratio and with all of the intended detail. Is that really too much to ask? I mean, many of us have been fans of the series for about a decade. Don't we have a right to get something as simple as a correct, consistent release?

And also, if you think we're bitching too much about a cartoon, then you really don't belong on a discussion forum for said cartoon. I think that many of us would appreciate having the ability to exercise our right to bitch as much as we want.

The Dragon Box is correct and consistent. The 4:3 releases of FUNimaton's are correct and consistent, except the Ultimate Uncut missing DVDs. The thing is though, who are you all "bitching" to? Why are you telling us? We can't go and change that. Complain to FUNimation if they give a damn.

All of this is a matter of OPINION. Some don't mind the cropped. Some don't mind the pink skin in the Dragon Boxes. Some think that the general picture and colors of the "Remastered" look great and they don't even notice the missing lines, yeah I know lots of people actually that think that. It's a matter of opinion. What happens in a Forum like this, is everyone has the same opinion basically. That the Japanese version is better and that the Dragon Boxes are better. Someone else comes on here with a different opinion and everyone jumps all over them. It's a cartoon, and this is just online. You should learn to respect others' opinions just as you would want someone to respect your own. Yeah, it's easy being the big tough guy when everyone agrees with you. Lets see you step into a Forum where everyone has an opposite opinion from you. Any loser with a keyboard can be slick and tough online. But is it worth it? Does it make you feel better to argue and spend your time pointlessly trying to change another person's opinion? I think everyone here can agree that they love DBZ. That's all I need. The rest is just a matter of opinion and should stay that way.

You want to "bitch" to someone? Bitch to FUNimation. Why do you come on here and type up the same crap over and over again? We get it, you don't like the "Remastered". But what's your problem with the Dragon Box? Someone who isn't a die hard fan and just wants to enjoy the show would get their feelings hurt if someone online bashes them for spending money on that "crap".

It's more than just opinion when a product is clearly flawed. It's fact that there is mising footage, it's fact that lines randomly disappear, it's fact that some of the Japanese BGM is missing. If anyone says they "don't notice" they're definitely ignoring it or really just don't pay attention. I noticed it without even going into it looking for flaws.

I really didn't notice missing lines in the first 2 sets until I read about it. And I compared the TV overscanned version to this and it's pretty much the same missing vertical image on my TV at least, as I've posted pictures up somewhere in the Forum on that. So fans who just want to own the series because they think it's cool wouldn't notice. I'm not saying that the actual release is opinion. I'm not saying that it's your opinion on the missing footage. I'm saying it's your opinion that it's total crap. That a lot of people who bought it just want to have DBZ because it's a cool show, and they don't come on here and rant about how the Japanese version is better and this and that. Whether people like the set or not is a matter of opinion is what I'm alluding to.

When I watch the cropped version and then the 4:3 version, I can tell where the footage is missing so I dunno.

I think the point he had was the people who buy the sets don't really give a flying Nimbus what footage is gone.
