 I think you should just go back and read the last few pages.

Edit: I also think it's interesting enough to note that G4's Attack of the Show's "The Only News You Need To Know" segment brought up the Roshi casting news. They've been reporting all the casting calls.
You just don't expect to hear about the Dragonball movie (Though, they're referring to it as 'Dragonball Z') on TV, and then it takes you by surprise.

About Roshi, I'll say - "FINALLY!!! not photomodel/pop/celebrity-diarrhea choice!!!"
But it is bad choice, because i said that million times - DBZ almost theoretically can't be put in live action...
But lets say choice is at least not disappointing.

BUT I still have something to explain:
DB LAM : Chow Yun-Fat = Shit : ice-cream
So I don't like the taste of shit, and I don't want to eat it! Will I change my mind if someone add an icecream to that shit and mix it up!? noooo...it will still be a damn shit to me, maybe even worst...

However I am sorry about swearing and about silly and impolite example, but I think it is always better to write in the way you feel, simply and purely just like Goku.
Justin Chatwin wont wear a wig because his hair is "already like Goku's".
Hmmmm, ok now I am reaaally pissed off!!!

A DAMN TOILET BRUSH LOOKS MORE LIKE GOKU!!!!

My thoughts exactly! I'm not so convinced anymore that the movie will be a complete bag now that there are some big (well, some of those other guys on board have done stuff, whatever, so "bigger") names involved.

Also, after reading the above post by VEGETA_DTX my excitement for this news was all but sucked out of me. The product you are putting on this board, sir, is really very poor. I feel the need to say this just like I would feel the need to give someone at my school a hard time about cheating -- they're lowering the value of my degree -- and reading what you wrote there makes this board less fun, so take it easy :)

Do I look like I want to make this forum funnier!? I don't really want it! I want to make this forum more serious, and I want them to wake up and think more about what this movie is going to look like.

And about pic, it is meant to be poor, to prove how chatwin and those producers are even more poor.

@Snail
IMO DBZ hair is probably most important of all :D

I think everyone can come to their own conclusions without the poorly worded ramblings you're subjecting everyone here to.

Ontopic: I actually like the casting choice for Roshi, he's always been one of my favourites, I'm not sure if Chow Yun-Fat can pull of his duality as a character (or if he will even be written that way) but along with James Marsters thats atleast two casting choices that make a little bit of sense :)

Don't worry, before long his posts will just be like background noise.
So I finally realized there was a blog out...

Why is Goku going to school?
Because Hollywood is scared of soccer moms complaining that their kids wont go to school now because Goku doesn't. Well, that and it's a quick way to set up stuff.
Where's his gi?
We've not seen him fighting so we can't say he doesn't have it. I mean, how man teens do you know of that wear a gi to school?
Where's nyoibo?
Considering the movie is his very first adventure he likely doesn't have it yet, if he'll have it at all. He might take it from Gohan before setting out on his quest, he might not. No information on that yet.
Where's kintoun?
You expect them to work in a flying cloud in a movie like this without making it ridiculous?
Where's the funky hair?
In the anime and manga where it belongs.
Why is he a teenager?
Because he's fighting Piccolo and, believe it or not, Goku was a teenager when he fought Piccolo.
Why is Bulma driving a sports car?
Because she's a rich kid.
Where are the asians?
In Asia.

What it really comes down to though is it really your place to make the forums here more anything? It's not your forums, it's VegettoEX. Apparantly he's not as displeased with this forum or its threads just yet, or he would've put a stop to it by now. Although, I think he is getting a little tired of statements made by many people here, myself included.

Please excuse me for saying, but, if you really want to make this a more serious forum--and to have people take you seriously as well--then you're really going to have to improve both the way you write and the manner in which you express yourself. Bitching and shouting with less-than-stellar grammar is not the way to getting other people here to respect your opinions (I can kind of understand if English isn't a native language to you and you're continuing to learn it, but still...). Hell, even a number of us here who DO write in proper English don't often word themselves in a way that convinces everyone else to take them seriously. I'm not pointing fingers or the like, but it is true.

Getting off that note... I don't recall if this has been stated before, but I really think it'd be cool if they got Jackie Chan to at least cameo in this movie. I've heard he's actually a big fan of the series... it would be interesting to see what would happen if he managed to get involved. :)
Art, etc. links taken down for now. Will be updated at some point. I dunno.

Really? I didn't know Jackie was a fan, do you have any links or anything to where this was said?

That would be another nod in the right direction in the acting department at least. They've already got my seal of approval for Roshi for what it's worth, so they may as well do something else to make me happy. :D

So let me get this straight: We don't want celebrities cast in roles ion this movies but we want celebrities in this movie. Is the Chow Yun Fat casting only approved because he's asian? Cuz there are other asains cast in this movie. Or is it because he has had a lengthy career in action and matial arts films? You know, I do understand the sentiment to want the entire cast asian and to have the complete production of the film done by asians, but that doesn't mean that it's not completely irrational and unreasonable. The only thing in casting that you have to make sure of is that if the character is traditional portrayed as male or female, old or young, and as fat as the day is long or thin as a toothpick's splinter that these are met. The Matrix showed me that anyone could be in a Kung-fu movie and not only sell it but amaze people as well.

I also thought about the synapsis we recieved some time ago and it struck me that we really go so little information regarding the the world that they live in. It really could go either way whether it will be more like our world or Dragonworld. We could get animal people walking around and flying cars and capsule homes and such. As for clothing, even though we never SAW anyone wearing geans (especially Goku) doesn't mean they don't exist. The only time we really see interaction with normal people in Z, would be the Great Saiyaman arc with Gohan wearing what looks like slacks and Yamcha wearing a suit or something.

Come on don't try to make this movie sound like it won't be a pile of shit. Its certainly going to need to be judged on the movies based on video games scale. Where not awful is considered a huge victory.

Nooo, that's Vince Noir from a britcom called The Mighty Boosh!

It used to be good, now it's popular and they're recycling jokes from the first 2 series. The only thing good about this series is that they call is Series 4 instead of 3.

You know, I have a really funky idea for nyoibo. I was a huge Babylon 5 fan, and they had a group of warriors called Rangers. They were all equipped with a pole that could expand to be used for combat. While not in use, it would be as small as a pop can in terms of height. While in use, it would be as long as nyoibo. When I first saw nyoibo (I was finished with the Babylon 5 series before I even saw an episode of DBZ), I was reminded of that weapon.

Here is an image. While not in use, it is only as long as the silver part.

Paint one of those red, and you have something resembling nyoibo. There is no reason why nyoibo cannot be in this movie, to some extent. Through Goku's 18 years of sometimes after school training, I'm sure he would be able to learn a weapon of choice.

Anyway, I'm carefully optimistic about the movie. I have just been waiting too long for it to not go. Chatwin looks a lot more like Gohan than Goku, but as long as it carries the spirit of the anime, I can live with it.

I think Chow Yun Fat will be a great Roshi. Personally, Gordon Liu, who was Pai Mei in "Kill Bill", would have been a better choice.

But now that I see who theyve chosen, I have a feeling they wont make Roshi a pervert.

Checking the dragon ball movie blog it looks like we've (finally) got some news concerning hair in the movie:

"The site (here) has a few interesting tidbits:
- Justin Chatwin wont wear a wig because his hair is "already like Goku's".
- Most of the female characters (both lead and extras) will have unique hairstyles. Most notibly Emmy Rossum, Bulma, will wear a blue wig."

Yay for blue wigs. As for Goku's hair, I'm not really surprised. I mean I know that the actual style can be pulled off by some cosplayers out there, but it's probably gonna be a different thing entirely if you were to consider stuff like fight scenes. It's just less cumbersome this way.

... and some scenes to be filmed:

"- There will be a lot of oriental influenced locations shown in the movie, including one where a "youth festival" takes place. According to the article, this is wear Goku and Chi Chi meet.

Also, after searching online I came to a new article from El Universal that says Emmy Rossum is now on set filming a scene were Piccolo attacks her father and takes off with his Dragonball.

The article also mentions the oriental inspired architecture, as well as Aztec Temples (perhaps for Piccolo?)."

I think the youth festival thing is a pretty interesting idea. I'm also assuming that even though that's where Goku and Chi Chi meet, that doesn't mean that they're not attending the same high school. Perhaps the two just didn't recognize each other until that point.

I personally think the slight focus on Goku and Chi Chi's building relationship is a good idea, since we really don't get much of that in the actual series (though I guess it's understandable, since Goku didn't even know what the hell "being married" meant :P).

The temples probably being for Piccolo-related stuff is alright, I guess. I'm just hoping they stuck to some of the more memorable designs from the series and keep in mind that you should be able to tell that some of Piccolo's stuff is influenced by his Namek background (ie: his throne design in the Piccolo Saga pretty much looks like the same throne that the Great Namek Elder (sorry, his real name escapes me right now) except with some skulls).

The site also brings up that the Super Bowl would be the perfect time to air the first trailer for the movie, though also mentions that it can't be a sure thing, especially since we know that the movie's being rushed (I'm guessing it's confirmed about the movie coming out in Summer 2008?).

Hey, if Paramount and Marvel can show a trailer for Iron Man during that time, I don't see why the same can't be said about DB. And the fact that the Super Bowl airs on Fox might play a role in all this as well.
