So what are the flashback Saiyans though. I think the main Saiyan villain appears to be annocened Saiyan or at least a descendant

I have been playing Legends recently and I must say ancient Saiyans are hella interesting, way more than the U6 Saiyans and probably even more than the Freeza-force slaved U7 Saiyans we got to see in the Saiyan arc and later in the Bardock TV Special and Dragon Ball Minus.
I wonder if the main villain will be a Saiyan from the past, and if so how they will explain him being in the present. My guess is that he will be from one of the universes previously erased by Zeno.

Raditz was a coward who used dirty tactics and was scared of death
Nappa had problems with vegeta killing his saibamen and valued his comrades
Gine and the son family speak for themselves
Shallot is a bonehead who thinks with his stomach but ultimately hates the idea of Raditz and the murderous imagery of the saiyans
Bardock's crew caring about each other
Paragus regretting what became of his son
hell, Broly seems to be the only one at this stage who properly matches up to the impression we were supposed to take of he other saiyans as cold, blood thirsty and brutish.
Re: Official "DB Super 2018 Movie" Discussion Thread
I mostly disagree with you. Raditz was no coward, he just underestimated his opponents but he showed no hesitation tricking his own brother for his own safety. I don't remember Raditz ever being this afraid of death. Of course we can assume he was, as everyone else is and Dragon Ball characters are no exception, but Raditz was still portrayed as a bloodthirsty and brutal warrior, he just had no problem at using scummy tactics to get out of disadvantageous positions. This doesn't mean he wasn't prideful when he tricked Goku into letting go of his tail, he just saw an opportunity to use Goku's naivety in his favor.mahakaishin1991 wrote:I find that every new saiyan seems to call into question the whole bloodthirsty image the saiyans are supposed to have.emperior wrote:I have been playing Legends recently and I must say ancient Saiyans are hella interesting, way more than the U6 Saiyans and probably even more than the Freeza-force slaved U7 Saiyans we got to see in the Saiyan arc and later in the Bardock TV Special and Dragon Ball Minus.

I always had the impression of Raditz being just a dumb monkey. He was probably more stupid than Goku considering how he even expected his comrades to get to Earth with the sole purpose of avenging his death and then wishing him back with the Dragon Balls.
As for Nappa, he surely got ordered around a lot by Vegeta and they had some disagreements, but this doesn't mean he wasn't a psycopathic murderer. He had no problem trying to stomp Gohan and looked quite happy and satisfied to see Yamcha, Chaotzu, Tenshinan and Piccolo die.
Bardock's crew bonded but this doesn't make them less Saiyan, and they still enjoyed massacring whole races. Actually it seems like most Saiyans have a sense of camaraderie, and Vegeta was actually an exception as he only cared about himself.
Paragus was a son of a bitch who had no problem killing his own son and everyone else to rule the galaxy without anyone getting in his way. He knew he was outclassed by the other Saiyans which is why he came up with a plan to get rid of them all.
About Shallot: he is hot headed and a little cocky but it is pointed out how he is "different" from the average U7 Saiyans, which is why Beerus considers him an exception and it's the reason why he finds Shallot an interesting fellow.

Vegeta's going on about saiyan pride etc and going out in a blaze of glory but Radit'z pussies out. He's clearly not like the others, who throw themselves into battle and revel int he glory of it. He came apart the second a powerlevel came close, even if it was below his own. Probably explains how hes so weak compared to the others because if hes about to get pressured his battle plan costs him the chance of a zenkai.
Wishful thinking is funny, but he has no reason to assume the other saiyans would cast him off like that when they are all pissed at how thin the herd is now.
I didnt contest that Nappa hasnt killed people, what seems out of the ordinary with him was being upset one of his saibamen was killed by vegeta, remember, he challenged vegeta for killing a sentient creature that didnt need to die. Thats also not like how the saiyans were made out to be.
Paragus wanted to get rid of vegeta and the others partly because of vegetas father. But look at the bit when hes leaving in the pod, he seems sad that Broly just can't be reasoned with and that he has to abandon him on a doomed planet.
As for bardock's crew, again, I'm not contesting that, but the saiyans are never made out to be typically like this, look at the jaco special, where saiyans often die of infighting, the fact they're all so buddy buddy seems to challenge the whole 'we just kill kill kill all day errday and dont care' impression we had.
All I saying, we were given the impression death and murder was ALL saiyans were about, according to Raditz's exposition and statements made throughout the series, but the saiyans dont seem to reflect that in truth, at least not fully.
If Toriyama wanted to give us the bloodthirsty brutish psycho killers they were made out to be, he didnt supply them for whatever reason, and gave us nothing but various exceptions to the rule. The only true cookie cutter match to this is Broly, and he's a freak by saiyan standards.
The saiyans as a whole seem to have suffered a form of stereotyping that they have either put out themselves as propoganda or have simply earned a reputation that has distracted from any other qualities that they may have. All I'm saying.

Thinking about it they could retcon a relationship between this Saiyan and Freeza, saying Freeza froze him in ice on some planet or something. This would go along with what Toriyama said about not properly depicting the past with Freeza and Saiyans.

I have an out there theory that this saiyan was too strong for freeza's liking, so he used his telekenisis to throw him out into space and he froze in the cold and was suspected of being dead.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Thinking about it they could retcon a relationship between this Saiyan and Freeza, saying Freeza froze him in ice on some planet or something. This coincides with Freeza knowing saiyans apparently cant survive in space, accounts for his abscence and would allow Freeza to have some relevance to the film
Re: Official "DB Super 2018 Movie" Discussion Thread
That could work but it would seem like a forced retcon. Freeza knew of the Super Saiyan legend has every Saiyan did, and later Minus showed he also knew of the Super Saiyan God, but on Namek he was very reluctant to accept Goku was the real deal and constantly underestimated him during their fight, so much that he held back his true power until Goku transformed.mahakaishin1991 wrote:I have an out there theory that this saiyan was too strong for freeza's liking, so he used his telekenisis to throw him out into space and he froze in the cold and was suspected of being dead.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Thinking about it they could retcon a relationship between this Saiyan and Freeza, saying Freeza froze him in ice on some planet or something. If this new enemy is from U7, I could see him being the one responsible for Sadala's destruction. He may have survived the explosion and somehow ended up being hibernated, either due to a technique of his, or for some technology or for just freezing in the vacuum of space (normal humans would die for various reasons in the vacuum, but it's a massively powerful Saiyan we are talking about so they can come up with some reason as of why his respiratory system didn't collapse).
Freeza will definitely play a role in the movie, but I really don't think Toriyama will directly connect the main villain to Freeza's past.

I'm working under the assumption this saiyan hadnt transformed and he gets it during his forced exile, but yeah. Something or someone must have destroyed Sadala. It must have been a mayor threat. Given the fact thtis movie will be a multi-layered story, referring to the past, it's very plausible this evil nemesis has done this harm.
I'd rather pose the question: who else if it's not him who has destroyed Sadala?

Didn’t they explain that during the SSJ’s rampage, he destroyed the planet? I’d assume that the real answer is that during the civil war between SSJ Yamoshi and the evil saiyans, the power of the fight heavily damaged the planet leading to a Namek situation where they had to get off the planet before it exploded.Mister_Popo wrote:Something or someone must have destroyed Sadala. I called it that Gogeta, Bardock, and something Broly related would be in the movie before it was even announced that it was a Broly movie.

No, they haven't. A couple mentions of an invitation isn't foreshadowing.AnimeNation101 wrote:r u serious? They’ve foreshadowed a U6 Sadala Arc more than any other arc in db history. They could easily just use the cube or Whis could bring them their because why would he say no? And for the movie, the U6 saiyans could happen to be visiting U7 via their cube or Vados bringing them.
You say that there won’t be a U6 Sadala Arc but where is your proof? Because the series has given flat out statements that atleast Vegeta will go to Sadala.
Why hasn't there been a Sadala arc yet? Why have a "future" Trunks arc, a Tournament of Power arc and this movie (which doesn't seem to be happening in Sadala) and no Sadala? We know Toriyama doesn't plan this far ahead and when he did it usually happened back to back (Piccolo Daimaou -> half of God -> alien -> trip to planet) and Sadala was mostly ignored by everyone after Champa's tournament.
The cube is for the Gods to use. Why would Whis say yes? He doesn't care and he goes nowhere without Beers, who wouldn't entertain a field trip for no reason. The same could be said for the Universe 6 bunch, adding to that the fact they aren't even close to their Gods.
I didn't say there won't be one, I said it hasn't been foreshadowed at all. Toriyama tends to leave loose ends in case he feels like using them in the future so it could be possible he uses this idea but it's pretty obvious it isn't his priority for now.
It doesn't have to be, it could a tactic for the opponents to think he's done for and lower their guards thinking he's no longer a threat.mahakaishin1991 wrote:So begging for his life isn't an indicator he feared death? Ok.

They might not have waved off his death hadn't they known about the wish-granting orbs. Even so, it doesn't mean they loved Radits. Vegeeta bosses them around since he's their Prince and each of them have Saiyajin pride so, obviously, acting as a group is to be expected.
That didn't happen in the manga.
