While it was a "general public" movie, at least the first two kept some comic book integrity.

Back to Dragonball, it seems that Emmy Rossum is doing martial arts and firearms training for her role as Bulma.

Huh. Firearms don't sound out of Bulmas character entirely, but I wonder about the martial arts training. While she was pretty wild, I don't remember her knowing the first thing about fighting.

WHOA, wait a minute, I can understand the firearms training but why would she need martial-arts training? Please tell me Bulma isn't fighting. I'm about at the ends of my hopes for more good news - I'm still gonna see it, but this is getting ridiculous.

And as for X-3, I enjoyed it but there was a bit too much going on - same in Spider-Man 3.

[sarcasm]

Oh no, first they're ruining the movie by making Goku an awkward nerd who hangs around school all day, but now Bulma's gonna be a martial artist and train under Roshi!

[/sarcasm]

A lot of actors do some amount of strength training for action movies, even if their character doesn't do much/any actual fighting.

Exactly. You should be happy these weaklings are getting in shape!

Well, I guess that's true. But the idea that they may have Bulma as a fighter terrifies me to no end.

If I get to see a decent final battle in this film then I'll be happy. It's got the choreographers or whatever from 300 doesn't it?

I can see an actress going on a diet, picking up an exercise routine, working in a gym... "strength training" as you put it... But...
Emmy Rossum wrote:In prep for the film I've been training very hard, learning how to fight, fire a gun, weapons training and even some martial arts. It's fun to play such a different character when I am such a pacifist in real life.
That sounds like just a little more than necessary for her preparations if she wasn't going to have some action scene of her own. And the mention of her playing a character that's against her general 'pacifist' personality...
I'm not saying you're not right, but if she's saying she's going through all that in preparation for the movie... It wouldn't be a great stretch to assume she's prepping for a few action scenes.

Not that Bulma defending herself rather than pissing her pants in the movie would be such a horrible thing.

Bulma always annoyed me, who knows they might make her cute / tough in this movie as opposed to just being annoying / whiny.

I'd be a lot happier if they'd kept that Latino for Bulma.

Haha, I'm jokingNot Really I really hope we see a trailer at the Super Bowl, but without them having to rush things.

Has any mention been made yet as to the movie's actual title? Like, is it still gonna be called 'Dragon Ball Z' even though it's 'Dragon Ball'?

Thanks JAPPO. :D

I gotta say, I didn't expect them to opt for DB though - I figured they'd go ahead and run with 'Dragon Ball Z' as title, since it's the most well known of the three. What about the special effects studio, has it been announced?

Sorry if these are redundant questions, but those arcticle links never load right for me. :?

Because, you know, they're at least capturing the spirit of Dragonball by making Goku a nerdy High School kid.

Dude, stop giving people shit for not liking the idea of Bulma being a fighter. It's not like people walked into this thread going "ZOMG you guys like this crap?!?! Stop liking it! You're not allowed to like it until something concrete comes out, like a trailer, before you can decide that you like this!" or something. So leave the people who don't like it to continue not liking it.

I'm sorry if that came off as having such an attitude, it wasn't my intent. I was just trying to prevent people from overreacting and reading too much into the bit of news.

Y'know this reminds me of the Budokai 3 interview when Bulma's VA said something along the lines of "I have 65 pages of screaming" but she never ended up a character in the game.
Aro started to laugh. “Ha, ha, ha,” he chuckled.- Actual quote from Twilight

Yeah that's the one I'm talking about.
Okay she said 5 pages at a time not 65 pages, I thought that was too much screaming for anyone,my mistake.

It's cool. Don't take any of it personally. I'm just responding to the words themselves, not the person saying them.

JAPPO, you are awesome. :D

I apologize if it seemed like I was being snide about the Bulma fighting thing, but I really don't wanna see that happen. I'll deal with it if it does, but I'd almost have Teto be a Krillin replacement.

Actually, no, on second thought, I'd rather have Bulma fight.

Some parts of martial arts training has to do with learning how to fall well, and avoid injury. I'd prefer it if the actresses would not get injured.
