He did fine, I just think it would have been better if they didn't try to hype him up as a god tier character right before the ToP. If they just had him fight against ssj2 Goku and lose to either ssj3 or get one shot by Blue Goku then that would have been better and wouldn't have given people such high expectations.

No one can really say he did better than OK, so a 5 or 6/10. Maybe if he eliminated people with a different attack as opposed to Kamehameha spam, the fights would be a little more entertaining eg Masenko/ finger beam used in the Tien and Goku spar and didn't struggle vs Jimeze, the robots, the Namekians and the sniper. Only elimination that was somewhat cool was vs Dyspo and even there, the plot shat on him with Frieza eventually taking him out, after 'losing' his grip. Asides from that, meh, couldn't even keep up against Toppo.
EDIT: what made things worse was that he never used SS1 or SS2, constantly being in the Ultimate state was kinda boring...unlike Goku and Vegeta transforming at free will, out their asses..

Gohan was fine, he achieved so much in such a short duration of time, wanting more may be tempting but was unnecessary for the story, there is no need to wank any one character to oblivion, Gohan went form barely SS to trading blows with SSB then goes on to fight good enough in the tournament, anything more in such a short amount of time would destroy his character, something I am glad didn't happen..

His Ultimate state negates the need for using SS/SS2.TheGreatSaiyaman wrote:No one can really say he did better than OK, so a 5 or 6/10. As for his performance, he had a great showing throughout the entire arc. They fixed flaws that crippled him in the original series while building a solid foundation that balanced his character. He doesn't need a flashy new form out of no where (looking at you, Sparkle Vegeta) to be cool. If he did, then there's a serious problem.

Toei said in an interview they want to do more with him but it's up to Toriyama who clearly doesn't so that scene may have been to set something up in the future for Toriyama to think about or even them to go back to once he's done.Lord Beerus wrote:I am a quite sad that this never really went anywhere.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

You make good points and I agree in part, but I'll just drop my thoughts.Kagari wrote:His Ultimate state negates the need for using SS/SS2.TheGreatSaiyaman wrote:No one can really say he did better than OK, so a 5 or 6/10. - Was it a great showing? Maybe vs Dyspo, Namekians(?), Lavender and Goku x2 pre-tournament. This is sort of a problem when his best fights imo happened before the main event/ portion of the arc.
- His flaws weren't completely fixed (ahem Jimeze - dude/dudette, it's stupid he couldn't deal w/ IT even though he trains w/ GOKU and he held back, noted by Frieza) but he did lose his arrogance I guess.
- I would've enjoyed some extra visual effects for Ultimate idk, maybe some lightning or fire in blue or white instead of the standard white aura, which I guess shows his calm nature
- honestly, I'm just salty he didn't fight an equal solo battle (no interruption or aid) vs either Dyspo or Toppo, overwhelming speed or power. and that we didn't get to see any new attacks as mentioned above...
