Y’know what? If they can actually manage to reboot Broly and make him a genuinely interesting character? Then that’s awesome. I’m hyped. I’m hyped as fuck. This is going to be awesome.

My reaction exactly. We just HAD a canon Broly reboot in Super. Kale, Toriyama? Remember Kale? Now we're getting another Broly? Ugh. My hype for this movie has taking a nose dive after this bit of news. Will the Broly reboot be better than the original Broly? Probably. But it's still a recycled idea, and I don't find that exciting.

Broly does have a personality in the first movie, watch it again when he tranforms into the LSSJ.

I'm dealing with it just fine, thanks. It's easy for me when I don't gotta make up excuses. There's nothing wrong being a fan of power/design, but why bother pretending it was deeper than that these past years? Broly never had a character or personality and represented solely 'style over substance' side of the franchise. Hopefully Toriyama improves upon it considerably and everyone can enjoy him.

If Broly had no personality in movie 8 he would not have had the reactions he had in same movie.

I think the only thing that can top this is to have Jar Jar Binks have a huge role in Star Wars Episode 9. Then I might actually watch it after giving up after 8

I will keep my hopes up that the character will be written well for this film. I think my reaction at first matches a lot of others, but I've warmed up to the idea slowly. I would've rather a Broly-esque character, or someone entirely different but it is what it is. It won't stop me from supporting the series or anything, so I'm game. I'll be watching this film when it comes out stateside, or we get some kind of other release for it.

It's still just giving me an odd feeling. We've had THAT Broly since 1993. Three movies, countless video games and versions of THAT Broly. To get something different (from what is being said -- though also somewhat the same) after 25 years? Again, just an odd, weird feeling to see that.

But let's see what we get. Only a few more months, right?

Broly does have a personality and also has an interesting background. He is not only a brainless monster.

Broly's character always bothered me far more than his concept, but if Toriyama's new statement is of any indication, it looks like that part's going to be reworked. Could be good. I'll reserve judgment until I see the film.

I doubt there is any minions for others to fight now which is a bit crap.

I doubt Broly will be that different and finding out the history to him and how he ends up fighting with Goku and Vegeta doesn't really sound that interesting.

Did you watch the broly movies, he is not exactly a one on one type of villain, it took 5 super saiyan level fighters to beat him

Hmmm... he created the character so he knows exactly what he is talking about and what he wanted to do with the character. You are just hating for no reason.

When I saw this news on ANN I immediately jumped up and yelled, "YES!!!" then followed that up with a "Suck it motha ^#^#ers" cause I know how many people were going to cry about this

Anyway, now on to the reveal.

So do you think this movie is going to reveal that the battle between good saiyans and evil saiyans was fought between the original SSG and the LSS?? Then we learn that Broly is a descendant of the LSS. That would be cool IMO. Not only that but I will say that SSB is the coolest form in DB if this is true. Think about it, this would make SSB the combination of the two strongest forms that fought each other. The combination of good and evil united in Goku. I would prefer SSB over UI if this is true.

This movie's gonna make so much money oh my god. I feel like I should give my full thoughts after that knee jerk post before.

For the past 4ish months I was one of the heavy deniers of that Saiyan character in the teaser being Broly, but... holy shit. It's actually him. I've never disliked the character, there just wasn't much to him. So I actually really like this idea of trying again with the character, this time with more involvement from Toriyama. Is it an attempt by a studio trying to capitalise off of an extremely popular character? Fucking of course it is. But if they can do it right and actually make him an interesting character, then that is a win and I'll be very happy.

Bardock in some flashbacks? A reference to Gogeta with the other movie, so maybe Gogeta Blue?
