Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #1 Thread: "Broly"

You're comparing a low budget promotional anime to what might be one of the biggest anime movies ? with out even seeing a trailer ? it seems to me that you want to hate this no matter what it does.

For like the fourth time now, again: if this movie does have a substance, something to tell, character development and screentime for certain characters that I want to see in this movie, then I will bite my tongue so hard and will probably enjoy the past part of the movie. So far, all we know is that this movie is bringing back a crap old movie villain back, so it doesn't have anything interesting going on for it until this very moment.

In the meanwhile, the promotinal anime was competent enough to give me a whole new concept, with interesting plot and interesting characters in it. So yeah, so far, a simple promotional anime is better.

I'm no Nostradamus but I'm going to guess that the hour and a half movie will be more substantive than the 8 minute promotional anime for a card game.

Will we get confirmation of the run time then soon now that tickets are gonna start to go on sale? I remember that one of the Japanese theatre chains listed the ResF run time.

They could keep it a secret if Toei told them to but hopefully not. How long do you think it'll be, I'm betting on 90 minutes.

Does anybody know when the next trailer or teaser is supposed to come out? Also Broly, especially Base and standard SS is one of my favorite designs in all of Super, and his LSS is top tier too.

I think it'll be a normal 1-1:30 minute trailer as we've already gotten the short teaser a few months ago.

If what Geekdom said is anything to go by then we're in for an amazing ride with this movie. Do you think they'll keep the art style and new character designer when Super returns or go back to what they had before ?

For now, we can only wait and see if that hour and a half is indeed going to be substantive. I highly doubt though, as I'm pretty sure the movie will focus way more on the present part. If I turn out to be correct, it won't be one hour and a half with a legit substance in it.

No but everyone involved, including Toriyama have said things like "it's over for now" and "it's done for the time being" so clearly there are plans to bring it back and why wouldn't there be ? the franchise is at an all time high and Toriyama still wants to work on it.

Again, I'm going to be bold and say there's literally no way it could be less meaningful than Heroes unless they're actively trying to make it that way.

I disagree with you about the Broly design. Almost thre entire character design as been altered.

And as for the creativity thing, I somewhat agree with you, though the whole Gods, Angels, universes, and Zamasu himself were pretty creative to me. But yeah, lots of stories in Super have been updated rehashes with returning old characters and stuff. Fortunately, they have still been entertaining enough for me to enjoy. But an arc with a completely new villain, new enviornment, and a new motive would be nice to watch/read.

Wtf how is it the same? of course he won't completely change the design otherwise it would be Kale 0.2 and there would be no reason to call him Broly, also he has a new form, that's being creative.
