Dubbed and Subbed showings for the new film. Thank god, we won't have every line nitpicked now.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
I disagree. With both dubbed and subbed viewing, it will make it easier to dissect whether a line was in the original or not.

Well it looks like that was a mistake and there's only gonna be dubbed screenings now. Disappointing but it's not a deal-breaker for me.

"but there will be other formats for sub fans to see it in the future."
Like what? When it comes out dvd? Man seems like they are practically daring people to pirate it now. Get you shit together Funi.

Were subbed screenings not available for Resurrection F? I know they were in Australia, I distinctly remember having that option. I was wondering why so many people were being like "ooh, they better have subbed screenings as well", it seemed like a given to me.
Doesn't worry me since I'll be seeing it dubbed, but disappointing nonetheless. Movie's still a way out though, maybe things will change.

They only had one Subbed screening for Resurrection F, and that was for the World Premier in Los Angeles many months before the Dub was in Theaters. I hope FUNi changes their mind and does do a Subbed screening though.Kataphrut wrote:Were subbed screenings not available for Resurrection F? I live in Los Angeles, so if they have another world premiere here, I’ll definitely go this time. I regret not going to RF.

Why aren't subbed screenings a standard in America? Like I live in Poland and every movie that airs I can pick whether to watch it in Polish or English..
I thought things like this are common practice, especially in a year like 2019.

Yeah, it's weird. I don't know why FUNi are so adamant about not screening the film subbed. Here in Australia (and New Zealand) we got Resurrection 'F' in both dub and sub when it had its theatrical release. There were less subbed screenings and they didn't last as long in theatres as the dub, but they at least gave audiences the option. Hell, we even got the film in 3D.Xeogran wrote:Why aren't subbed screenings a standard in America? You'd think that they'd give this movie some subbed screenings because of Super's simulcast popularity, but it looks like they're keeping this dub only. Fans should be more vocal about this, otherwise this film will be released in only the dub once we're in January.

Funimation has done some nationwide theatrical subbed and dubbed releases in recent memory. The upcoming My Hero Academia: Two Heroes film, also distributed by them, is able to do that, along with their screenings of Your Name a few years back.Xeogran wrote:Why aren't subbed screenings a standard in America? It could strongly be a Toei-exclusive issue in this case, as I was told that limited One Piece films screenings in the US are also dubbed only.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
Except Mazinger Z Infinity had a short theater run and was sub only. FUNimation just sucks at negotiating.UltraPrimus22 wrote:It could strongly be a Toei-exclusive issue in this case, as I was told that limited One Piece films screenings in the US are also dubbed only.

There was no dub for that I think.

Which is irrelevant to my point. If not having a dub was such a deal breaker and Toei policy was they didn't do screenings without an English dub then they wouldn't have done a run for Infinity. It's clear that it's not.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:There was no dub for that I think.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
So is the movie going to be in every Theatre or is it going to be only the select few? I really hope it's the former than the latter.

It will most likely have somewhat of a limited theatrical release so fewer theatres than mainstream blockbusters and only lasting a few days, but there's a good chance it will have a wider release and run than Resurrection F.
Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

I sure do hope so. I missed the BOG and RoF theatre release. I don't want to miss this chance again.Dragon Ball Ireland wrote:It will most likely have somewhat of a limited theatrical release so fewer theatres than mainstream blockbusters and only lasting a few days, but there's a good chance it will have a wider release and run than Resurrection F.

Ideally they'd have Ayers do speaking lines while Mills steps in for the more intense screams, but idk how possible that'd be to work out on the schedule the series dub is onMonkeyKing16 wrote:I hope Ayres doesn't strain himself too muchLord Beerus wrote:Incredibly delighted to know that Ayres is returning as Freeza.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Geekdom confirmed it was Ayres!. No sub screenings? Come on FUNimation. You've done it for way less significant anime. Why not this one? Really killed my excitement.
