Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #1 Thread: "Broly"
Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
Sir Not Appearing in this Movie doesn't mean they won't be seen when the series relaunches down the road. This movie isn't focused on all the extraneous characters. It's going to primarily focus on the Saiyans and Freeza's involvement. The cast got pimpslapped in BoG and were relegated to just dealing with fodder in RoF. Against Broly they might as well not even appear.
Plus there's any number of reasons why the rest of the team wouldn't show. Hell, they barely convinced #17 to leave his park for an hour for the ToP. And if this movie takes place shortly after the ToP, then it's likely Buu is still asleep since Hercule made mention that when Buu falls asleep like this, he's asleep for like 3 months. Gohan will look after his family and the kids, since he knows that, among all the heroes on Earth, the only ones strong enough who can decidedly deal with Freeza would be Goku and Vegeta. Tenshinhan, Roshi, Chouzu, Yamcha and Krillin just...are too far out of their league and they know it too. They'd just be stuck dealing with fodder again and we saw that in the last movie. There's no point repeating it.
Piccolo is probably there to do so something with the Dragon Balls. Since Kami was their Original creator for the Earth Dragon Balls, Piccolo may be there to help gather them or to power them up somehow in the event the shit really hits the fan. And Bulma is there to help find them.

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
Is Vic Mignogna really not scheduled to reprise his role as Broly for this movie? I know that the role has always been a pain on his throat, but it’s also arguably one of the most iconic dub performances in the series, so it would be weird to have someone else voice the character.
Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
He might've outright refused, or they might be wanting to take a different direction.
I love Vic as Edward Elric, but I honestly never felt him as Broly, so it's not a huge loss for me.

Yay, only dub screenings. Can't wait to hear people making out-of-character Yamcha references and making donuts.
Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
Well to be fair this isn't entirely the same character. This a "different" Broly that maybe a different voice will fit better for.(Probably not but who knows)WittyUsername wrote:Is Vic Mignogna really not scheduled to reprise his role as Broly for this movie? Well if Broly is keeping the same voice in Japanese, it’s logical that he should keep the same voice in englishPFM18 wrote:Well to be fair this isn't entirely the same character. Not how it works. Voice acting, especially for anime, isn't treated in English the same way it's treated in Japan. Actors don't stick with their roles for a long time/for life as often.AnimeNation101 wrote:Well if Broly is keeping the same voice in Japanese, it’s logical that he should keep the same voice in englishPFM18 wrote:Well to be fair this isn't entirely the same character. Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
The best thing to take away from all this, is that there are still warriors in Universe 7 that’d give Goku a run for his money that we don’t know about. Even though they may be dormant... or dead until brought back. There was 3 movie trademarks right? I hope Broly ties into Yamoshi for a second movie in that Saiyan civil war and hopefully some insight on the Tuffles. The Namekians and Saiyans were the only two races that were somewhat fleshed out. The humans were too I suppose. Freeza’s race and the Tuffles were a big miss, it’d be fun to explore other races after the Saiyan history is concluded.

It didn’t sound like him. Sabat mentioned on Twitter the dub cast list for the trailer and Vic wasn’t there. The yells from the trailer sounded more like Sabat.goku the krump dancer wrote:Did you guys not see the english trailer? Its Vic alright.

Ya know.. now that you mention it.. He DOES sound a little different, time will tell so we'll see. I mean for goodness sake he just voiced the guy for FighterZ lol so i really dont see why not unless he just really didn't want to.Super Saiyan Swagger wrote:It didn’t sound like him. Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
I can’t imagine that Chris Sabat would be voicing Broly in the movie proper. FUNimation has too large of a pool of actors to have to fall back on the guy who already voices a number of characters. Perhaps they just haven’t signed on Mignogna for the movie yet, for whatever reason? I guess it’s either that or he finally said no to voicing Broly in general.

There is no way Toriyama had all that information randomly in his head for a random interview in Saikyo Jump. It was obviously thought of prior.AnimeNation101 wrote:I don’t mean to milk my own theory but judging off of this, it really wouldn’t make sense if hey didn’t cover S-Cells in some way. It sounds like they really are going in deep with this. Also the destiny talk of Goku, Vegeta and Broly. Needless to say I'm really excited for this film. It sounds ambitious and if the final film can deliver. This could be the best DB material ever, animation and technical wise it already looks to be so hopefully the narrative can back it up!
Yamoshi & SSG is probably why Vegeta now has that form. I'm convinced now that's gonna be a plot point in the film.

-Broly's character-
I'm curious to see how Toriyama will handle Broly. Even in the first movie it was more logical for him to hate King Vegeta and by extension Vegeta like Paragus, because King Vegeta was the one that tried to get rid of them, instead of hating the baby that used to cry next to him.
I hope the scars he was it's because Toriyama will keep the part that King Vegeta ordered to kill him, since he was too dangerous and stronger than Vegeta. I really liked that part of his backstory.
In the trailer he attacks Vegeta first and doesn't scream "Kakarrot", so it's a good start.

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
I'm curious when people will actually stop spread this misinformations, to not say lie. Broly wanted to kill Goku because the latter's power had awakened Broly's instincts as a Saiyan. It was when they first met on New Planet Vegeta, not when they were kids. The scene where Goku is crying next to Broly as a baby is to tell us that they were born on the same day and to compare their power levels; also that they were destined to meet at some point in the future. It was his extraordinary battle power he was born with that increased and turned him savage, not Goku's cry.FortuneSSJ wrote:-Broly's character-

Expanding on that, think that Broly is pretty much confirmed to grow stronger, and out of the control of Paragus through fighting his fellow Saiyans. They may even use similar terminology.Mnich wrote:I'm curious when people will actually stop spread this misinformations, to not say lie. Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
First off, that’s still quite a flimsy story. If thats the case, it was never explained WHY Goku’s power awakened Broly’s instincts and made him go call coo-coo for Kakarot or even anyone that looked like him as shown in the second movie. And second off, clearly the motive of Broly trying to kill Goku because he awakened his instincts wasn’t explained well enough because of the fact that most people feel that the movie pushed the idea that Goku crying is the reason Broly hates him. So either way, its still a stupid reason to be crazy for KakarotMnich wrote:I'm curious when people will actually stop spread this misinformations, to not say lie. Besides, Goku's constant crying is a reminder of the day he was stabbed and left for dead in an exploding planet. That surely screws with someone's head.

It just seemed too much information for a random interview in one of the smaller magazines. There is no way all that was thought of on the spot clearly it was something he thought up before. And for this movie makes sense.majinwarman wrote:It could still just be stuff that Toriyama said just for the press and has no bearing on the movie.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:There is no way Toriyama had all that information randomly in his head for a random interview in Saikyo Jump. And now Vegeta gets access to SSG. With that Yamoshi and SSG talk I don't think that's a coincidence.
